i can’t believe we all used to complain about aly’s artistry on floor lmao. like no brestyan’s was never going to produce watchable choreography and no aly was not a natural dancer/musically inclined/etc. but you could at least actually tell she was trying, and i think it also helped a lot she was performing to songs that meant a lot to her. i’m sure jade is actually trying also and i don’t actually know anything but holy shit how did she not get better…at all…after a nearly complete ncaa career????

admittedly part of this is me being the type of childfree person that everyone else thinks they should legally be permitted to hunt for sport but we all as a fanbase need to re-evaluate why it’s acceptable for parents to blast their very young child gymnasts all over social media for clout. i get that, like, it fucking sucks that this is the level of safety issue that it is and i’m a huge buzzkill etc etc but you as a parent should never fucking EVER for any reason have public social media accounts for your children who are VASTLY too young to consent to or understand potentially being seen by millions of people. i also don’t think elite and or college gymnasts should be promoting this behavior from parents!!! i don’t think someone with even like a 10k following should be exposing YOUNG child fans to such a massive audience!

again PART OF THIS IS VERY MUCH that i am deeply uninterested in content with children in it and do not want to be subjected to any of that while i’m scrolling but the bigger part of it is: putting your child on social media with a bunch of gymnastics hashtags added to the photos/videos IS SO FUCKING DANGEROUS. it’s been proven/demonstrated time and time again that predators are extremely active in those hashtags and in the online gymnastics/dance/cheerleading communities!!!!! it’s been proven/documented that these types of accounts are constantly being referred back to in predator char spaces!!!!!!!

these parents really do not give a single shit about the safety of their children and/or are not internet literate at all. why are they tagging their child’s exact gym with captions about when their classes are??? why are they posting from hotels and detailing the child’s EXACT SCHEDULE THE NEXT DAY for competition??????why are they having their FIVE YEAR OLD doing brand deal posts????? why are they SPAMMING big names for shoutouts and mentions in the hopes their child will get exposed to potentially millions of strangers???????? I DO NOT GET THIS BEHAVIOR IT IS TRULY SO HARROWING WITH SUCH AN EXTREME POTENTIAL RISK IF YOU LOOK INTO THIS TOPIC FOR LONGER THAN ABOUT TEN SECONDS????????????

QQY is obviously incredibly talented and I wish her all the success in the world especially in the all around, but her bars routine is a fucking high bar routine that remembered it had to be a WAG UB set at the end.

There’s been Discourse for well over a decade about how the mustafina blueprint Maloney Pak VL format ignores the low bar entirely and yknow in some ways that’s a fair critique. But this routine construction is fucking ridiculous I don’t care that she does hard skills when they’re literally ALL on the high bar and are not transition elements.

I’ve made it clear that I adore Nemour for many reasons but she is like. Objectively a superior bars worker. I don’t care if you can do eleven shoulder-shredding pirouette skills in a row, bars as an event is (imho) about flight between the two. It’s bars, PLURAL.

Her release moves are all kinda dumpy she has the potential for much much better but she is gaming the CoP and for that yes I do applaud her. But if both she and Nemour hit as well as they can and QQY wins I won’t be happy.
