BABE, WAKE UP. new u.ntil d.awn lore just dropped !
this post is brought to you by nausicaä, omen ( @w4shingtons ) and amata ( @nof1ngers ). a special mention to grayson ( @jes5ica ) for having such a big brain moment and adding onto the lore.
you do not have to follow our canon, but this information is important to our portrayals. we will be following this opposed to the canon. if you would would like to use this canon, feel free to reblog this post.
blackwood mountain was purchased by the washington family long, long ago. it has been passed through the family generation after generation. the current generation of washington's decided to make this mountain their vacation spot ; a place in which they and their friends come to visit every year.
at the bottom of the mountain lies the town of blackwood. at a point, it was filled with people. now their numbers have dwindled, and seem to get smaller and smaller by the day. there are rumors of creatures stealing their people in the dark of night.
the creatures have been here longer than people. this was their home, and it was their hunting grounds.
as mentioned in my initial post, this new lore is heavily inspired by m.idnight m.ass. you do not have to know anything about it ... don't worry ! it is merely where our main idea had stemmed from.
within the mines and the sanatorium lurk more beastlike creatures. taller than any human, skin almost the color of ash, eyes as black as night, talons so long and sharp they'd rip through flesh, and wings so wide you'd think their flap would create winds ; visual reference. it is said that most have long forgotten their humanity. they have no memory of who they once were, or those who were in their lives. however, there are few - and these are the most dangerous, in truth - who do remember. they hold onto their prior lives with an iron grip. while they may not remember every detail, i can assure you that they remember those who have wronged them and how they were wronged.
years ago, villagers were in an uproar about their people being taken. searches took place during the day, but when night fell ... no one dared to continue the search, fearful that they would be next. vampires, they cried. there are vampires in blackwood. they were called crazy, told that they should be locked away for their beliefs in campfire stories. and so they were.
not only did the sanatorium play its part an an actual medical facility, but it started to harbor those that the townspeople labeled insane and dangers to society.
holding the highest positions in blackwood ( mayor, court officials, doctors, etc ) happen to be held by those who were lucky enough to be blessed by the ... angels, or so they would call them. while they do not have the appearance of their creators, they are like their creators all the same. weaker, but they are still, well - monsters. like the beasts to dwell ... they need blood to survive. brief halfling ( what we've been calling them ) info.
let it be noted ; someone can be bitten by one of the more beastlike vampires and not turn. they will only become a halfling after drinking vampire blood. that being said, the more vampire blood one consumes the more beastlike they become.
here is a quick rundown on hannah + beth. our idea is that beth let go of hannah when you are given the option. she lets go because she doesn't want to die. hannah falls and is presumed dead, but instead is kept alive by the beasts who feed from her as they give her their blood in turn. a mess, really. beth is rescued by jack fiddler - who turned out to be a vampire hunter. he has been on this mountain for years trying to keep their people safe. beth ends up becoming an apprentice.
remember what i said about how some are unable to forget their past lives and remember other's wrongdoings ? yeah. yeah ! hannah is one of those.
in the sanatorium, the patients who knew too much were fed upon, and often were turned. some became halflings and others became more beastlike.
those that dwell within the mines were, you guessed it, the twelve remaining miners from the cave in.
the beastlike vampires have become quite good at mimicking screams / cries for help. it has become a tactic into luring their prey in. humans ... always so gullible and usually willing to help those in need.
a couple years back, there was a rise in hunters on the mountain. they were steadily killing off the vampires. however, more people started to get taken on the daily due to their dwindling numbers. they needed to rebuild. as a flock, they hunted down most of the hunters and killed them. only one who evaded them had been jack.
the town, despite being infested with halflings, is the safest area on the entire mountain.
as of right now, this is all i can think of and it started to get shorter and shorter, i know. i have been at this for hours and just wanted to post it. if you have any questions ? please, please, please ... ask. i'll likely add onto this with more lore updates eventually.
