IT’S HARD FOR HIM to contain his excitement , practically barreling down the stairs so early in the morning in order to beat her to the kitchen . no , it wasn’t a race , in fact aqua probably wasn’t even awake yet – but he had to be sure he was the first person there in order to carry out his plan . sure enough , lights are off when he eventually reaches the room . he waits patiently , turning on the light &. making himself a small breakfast to pass the time until aqua would eventually make her arrival .

SHE ENTERS THE ROOM , pauses for a brief moment , most likely surprised to see him . good . everything was going according to plan , then . ❝ good morning , aqua .❞&. in a second he’s on his tip toes , planting a quick kiss to the top of her head as she would sometimes do for him . now with feet firmly on the ground , his smile grows even larger . it wasn’t really classified as a prank , in fact it probably wasn’t even that funny , but the role reversal was a fun idea in his head . ❝it’s about time you woke up , sleepyhead .❞

"aqua!!" and just like that, the young blond is already barreling towards her. "catch me!" (from ven obvi)

ven’s voice rings out through the courtyard , reaching her ears even through the crackle of magic , the hiss of master’s defender cutting through the air . head turns , && alarm sets quickly into her expression , seeing the excited youth far too brazen , eyes closed && head bowed as he charges toward her . skin once brimming with magic swiftly calms , keyblade dismissed in a flash of petals — she turns barely in time to catch him , strong arms curling around his back , settled just beneath his own .

laughter fills the air , draws a smile to her expression , as she moves fluid as the tides , twirling him around once , twice , three times before his feet meet the ground once more . despite the smile that still rests across her features , her tone is something more chiding — for as much energy && excitement he brings , she isn’t willing to see him hurt again . ❛ next time , wait until i’m not training , ok ? ❜ brows draw together , concern seeping into her expression . ❛ if i hadn’t heard you , you could’ve been hurt … ❜

she feels the weakness spread throughout her body, paving the way for numbness, a sense of nothing. she chokes out shuddering breaths, spluttering coughs as she fights for air. master's defender lies too far out of reach ( though with her injuries, she won't have need for it for much longer. ) voice hoarse, mind swimming- at this point she can barely see straight, but she won't allow herself to fall quietly. her hand lightly squeezes his arm ( it's about all she can muster ) as [ 1 / 2 ]

her gaze shifts to him. ❛ ven, i— i’m sorry. ❜ mournful is her expression, a perfect match to her tone. ❛ i didn’t want to— to leave you this way. i didn’t want to leave you at all. ❜ ah, but there’s nothing she can do, is there ? she so desperately wishes to stay ( after all, who wants to die? ) she can feel herself slipping away, even as she murmurs ❛ t— tell terra i’m sorry, too. i love you, both of you. ❜ a slight, soft smile. ❛ g— goodnight, ven … ❜ [ 2 / 2 :3 ] / @wayweaver

THEIR BATTLE CAUSES the dust &. dirt from the graveyard to shift – dark clouds hinder his vision &. dirty particles seep into his lungs making it hard to breathe . keep going – the voice inside him screams – because if you fall you won’t get back up . he glares at the boy in the helmet in front of him , his ‘other half’ , like those evil twins you hear about in fairy tales .

IT REMINDS HIM OF BACK THEN . the first time they had come to his grim place &. fought against the darkness . when he gave everything he had to try to protect aqua &. terra at any costs . but the darkness won . &. the three of them paid the price . it had taken over a decade for the three of them to reunite – if you could even call it that . terra still wasn’t back yet . that man with the silver hair wasn’t terra &. it wouldn’t be terra no matter how much he begged for him to stop – to come back – to stop hurting aqua .

eyes stare blankly ahead , with a hazy expression &. lips gently parted , the blond is broken once again . “a… qua ?” the name almost feels foreign on his lips – comes out as a question , testing if he could truly speak , asking if it was really her or if it was all a lie . “the chi blade…" his eyebrows narrow , giving the impression that he’s trying to concentrate on something . (1/2)

several seconds pass before his mouth opens again , only to have two words spoken before the boy collapses for good , eyes never to open &. lips never to smile again . “i’m… sorry.” (2/2)

an eternity ago , it was easier .

she takes a seat to his right , blanket shifted in a motion all too fluid , resting around both their shoulders - gentle smile settles across her features as her arm curls around him , drawing him into a hug , though she remains silent ( after all , she's content just to be close. )

go wanted something soft after all that and i’m here to oblige / @wayweaver

HE OFTEN SPENDS his morning surrounded by others – aqua especially – giving greetings , asking if people slept well , &. so on . this morning , unusually cold for an enchanted tower , ventus could be seen sitting under a blanket blue in color . ( yes , they had fireplaces , but no , ven didn’t want to hog them . )

HE SEES HER out of the corner of his eye &. smiles . with her side turned , all he could see was half of what was surely a fuller smile &. hair blocking the other half of her profile , the shade of which noticeably similar to that of his source of warmth . he’s amused at the connection – but then again , everything blue reminded him of her , just a bit .

IT’S ONLY A MOMENT before she sees him , too , &. the two of them lock eyes . aqua , although she didn’t say it , surely had an opinion about the way the blanket was draped not only over his shoulders but also his head . he was so childish sometimes , &. sure there were times that he wished people treated him more like a grown-up , but he’d be lying if he said he didn’t enjoy aqua’s big-sister tendencies just a bit too much .

HIS SMILE CAN ONLY GROW when she sits next to him . he fakes a pout when the blanket is lifted off of his head in favor of the increased reach to cover the both of them , but he wasn’t really upset about it at all . how could he be when aqua was around ? her presence had always been calming to him &. the two of them had a unique bond that no one else had .

HER HUG IS WARM &. he can’t help but lean in just a bit further . with his smile now returned , he looks up to make sure she would notice before settling back down . he knows that he doesn’t need to say anything in the same way that she does . just being here with her was enough .
