My biggest WoF confession is that the only reason I got into this series at all was cause I got dragged down into an rp by my old friend group. Told them I didn't know shit about WoF, they did not care.

This I how I ended up with my first two WoF OCs being named Zora and Zackery, because they chose not to tell me that there's a naming system

sorry for having an opinion but people combining hazbin hotel and/or helluva boss with wings of fire makes me extremely uncomfortable. hh and hb are extremely adult and people are combining it with a kids series that is full of DRAGONS???

i don't mind people combining wings of fire with media that has 18+ things in it (as long as you make it sfw), hell, i even do it myself, but only if it's not a massive part of it. with hazbin hotel and helluva boss there may as well be sex in every damn episode (as in scenes, undertones, jokes, etc), so why are we combining it with a series that is 1. meant for kids and 2. the main protagonists are almost always dragons and/or children. of course, because of the targeted demographic of the books being around 9 - 12 (ish), there are many children (as in under 18) in the fandom, and they really should not be exposed to this sort of thing this early, even if it's completely sfw when people combine it with wof.

I see where you are coming from for sure, and I am over 18 years of age.

The songs that I have the greatest issue being used are the ones about serious topics, such as SA. Poison is literally about someone in a relationship which has a lot of SA, and people instead use it to depict an abuser. An example of that is in the Warrior Cats fandom, I have seen people use Poison for Ashfur.

At this point, I don't think we can stop kids from making MAPs with the songs. I've seen people harass these kids. There is a clear line between trying to educate them and harass them, and some people have gone over.

Honestly, the best thing that can be done is to leave them alone, and watch out for any toxic and predatory adults trying to join their MAPs and get them kicked.

odd confession but with like as a developing artist, I tend to look at bases for ideas and proportions for hybrids, but why are all of them SandWing, RainWing, or NightWing? (Maybe the occasional IceWing and SkyWing). It’s so hard to find something to attempt to make a reference with for my Ice/Mud hybrids or get an idea on how they could look because no one (that I’ve seen so far) has made a base or reference for that combo. And whenever someone is doing one of these challenges, it’s kinda disheartening that MudWings have had the least attempts even though they’d be the most likely to hybridise due to… part of canon. Sorry if this turned into a rant but I must confess this somewhere.

I started reading wof when I was 10 and I thought Webs was pronounce “Weebs” because I thought that Webs was a weird name for a SeaWing until I remembered, when one of my friends pointed out his name was infected pronounced Webs, that aquatic animals have webs.

y'know sometimes I see an ask here that's like "I HATE this character because they are bigoted and terrible!!" and it's one throw-away line about them vaguely implying that all dragons want love (enforcing amatonormativity and being aphobic). like I understand that microaggressions (whether it be homophobia, racism, and ableism) are still bad and something to criticize, but I think you guys get carried away. I think you guys are looking for things to nitpick and hate and that's kind of annoying ngl. like if we were to analyze every single character ever for problematic elements, we'd be here all day. each passing day I become increasingly convinced none of you can understand nuance

I find it really weird when people draw the dragons kissing like humans do lol. I don't think every person who's drawn that is a weirdo just to clarify it's just that it looks off considering their anatomy isn't made for that. It would be cool to see some other interpretations of how dragons would show affection to their loved ones that makes sense for their species and stuff idk ! I love seeing everyone's dragon behavior/biology headcanons they're always fun even though I don't know much about those things myself

My only rp experience was me arguing with someone over my ocs name "not being a valid silkwing name" and then they realized after like two mins that it was a valid name and had an "oh shit oh fuck, I'm gonna be buried alive" moment

Sometimes i wonder if they ever remember that moment and cringe

Alexandra is a valid silkwing name, if you see a character with a human name look it up first before you start an argument because i will materialize into your house and steal your bedsheets

idk, i don't really think smolder x thorn is problematic. i can see how some people might be uncomfortable with it, but they're two consenting adults 🤷 and despite thorn being the queen and smolder being older, they seem to see each other as equals? and they respect each other (unless i'm not remembering things right).

also, i get that aging in wof is confusing, but i think a lot of people forget that a 20-year-old dragon isn't the same thing as a 20-year-old human. dragons mature around the age of seven; thorn is older than that and is probably way more mature than a 20-year-old-human. i think.

uhhh so yeah. i don't really have any strong opinions on this ship, but i think it's fine in this regard.

I've seen some people say how they don't like the way MudWing parents meet and raise (well, not raise) their dragonets. But I think it's fine...? It's just the way they do things. And I think it makes their tribe's culture a little more unique.

Also, these ARE animals. Advanced and intelligent animals, sure, but animals nonetheless. It makes sense that some tribes would still do things this way.

I don't like how some people paint this as a bad thing :/ Because all of the MudWings we've met have seemed pretty content with this system? (I guess Clay was a little upset at first, but he was familiar with active parental figures up until then and he became more understanding once he met his siblings.)
