Thinking about how badly Andrew must’ve wanted to be known. For someone to actually notice things about him and be curious and piece all these observations together. Like. The truth game was just as much about wanting to know things about Neil as him wanting Neil to know him. And even without the truth game being evoked, when he knows what answers Neil must be digging for, he gives in more often than not. I think about how when Neil started noticing Andrew’s odd memory, especially when Neil believed him not to be paying attention and when Neil started finally asking questions, and how quickly Andrew answered them, how he must’ve been thinking, finally.
How much he wanted to be known and by someone he knew by now he could trust. Someone he knew could understand him and the implications of things he’s told. Someone he could tell his own secrets and things he’s been keeping to himself. Everything he let other people assume or misunderstand about him. This little nobody runaway is paying attention, piecing it together, understanding in a way that no one has ever been willing to do, not even his own twin. And when Aaron and Nicky asks him when this happened or other variations of the questions Neil’s already solved himself, and Andrew tells them they should’ve figured them out himself.
The way Neil was the first person to take him at his word, especially about something that wasn’t violence. To look further into him and the things he says and does and actually try to understand him. Not just write him off as a violent psychopath who does things for his own pleasure. The way Andrew wanted him to see more of him and understand him. And I just. My mind is tangles. But I want to go on about this forever.

I can’t remember if Andrew ever canonically pulls Neil in by the grating on his helmet but

When the misunderstanding is mutual but they’re both so sweet about it (coffee shop au edition)
Inspired by the tags below (originally on this post) from @blahblaheverythingisgay and @lovelyprincejehan accompanied by some thoughts:

thank you for bringing this GALAXY brain take to my attention 😂 this guy comes in, all cagey about his past and his scars, always wearing baggy clothes but complaining about compression clothes (being on the run does a number on your joints and muscles), picking out a name for himself??? OBVIOUSLY he’s trans right
They somehow manage to have like three separate conversations about it without realizing they’re talking about two very different scenarios. Andrew only was so wrong for so long because scars on their own (and even being a criminal lbr) are such non-issues that it didn’t even occur to him that Neil could be talking about anything less important than being trans lol
Andrew had his little crisis about it and landed pretty solid on yeah he’s still into Neil regardless, and yeah he’s still super gay. He’ll figure out the rest from there. The only thing he didn't prepare for was Neil being uh. Cis

cannot stop thinking about how, from jean’s pov, neil is a Creature. an insane little man. jean expresses physical attraction or at least physical appreciation towards many of the characters in this book, and despite the foxes’ insistence that neil is good looking, to jean neil is always just… a weird and slightly unsettling presence. a strange and arrogant creature with no leash on him. an uncanny force of nature.

i have the follow through of a toddler when it comes to non-Andreil writing projects, so don’t hold your breath, but id love to write a fic that explores Thea’s relationship with Kevin the same way people have done with other minor characters, like Jeremy or Jean. Thea’s one scene is very emotional and you can choose to vilify her for it. Or you can choose to pick apart what would push her, a presumably decent person who cares about Kevin, to that anger. And from there, you can probably make up some really interesting things about her character & their relationship, and tell a hell of a story.
I see a lot of people default to “it’s not good for Kevin to be endgame with someone who is so loyal to the Ravens,” but people write hopeful stories about KevJean healing together from their Raven trauma all the time. If Thea was written as a dynamic character, her history and flaws and behavior would be positives, not negatives. They’d be something for Kevin’s own flaws and hopes to bounce off of. That’s what makes a good character.
And you know what doesn’t sound particularly interesting to me? Kevin ending up with a character who loves him without challenge and magically fixes all his problems with an unrealistic capacity for kindness and mental stability. That just isn’t how it goes. Y’all know that — you ship Andreil!
If there are fics like this already, I’d love if people would drop them in the reblogs/replies 👀

will never stop thinking about Andrew rambling about random shit, maybe a book he's reading, and he's comfortable, he's with Neil, and he doesn't realize.
until he does, and he gets flustered because god why does he talk so much? but Neil is just laying there, looking at him with those eyes, and he doesn't look annoyed, or zoned out, or anything, he's just listening
Andrew hates him.

okay, all excitement over the actual plot of tsc aside, is anyone else seriously excited just to see how Nora has developed as a writer?
There's something extremely special about getting writing for the same universe a decade after the original series. We get a little window into how she's grown in her craft, and I'm really excited for it. Getting to see how she interacts as an author with a brainchild that was originally developed so long ago is lowkey highkey amazing.
Tbh we should all give her a nice big "thank you, Nora" because not a lot of fandoms get this, and especially after some of the crap that the fandom has put her and her characters through.

there's no greater betrayal than finally starting to read a book you've had sitting for months on your shelf or your desk or your nightstand and then finding out it's bad. like. i gave you a fucking home.

The best piece of advice I ever got was not meant as advice, but as an edict. If I was going to threaten people as a joke, it had to be so far out of proportion with what happened that it would be obvious I was joking. This changed how I expressed frustration with others. It then changed how I expressed frustration with myself.
Not “I’m going to hit you” but “I am going to buy a tuna sub from the gas station and hide it under the seat of your car”
Not “I’m going to kill myself” but “I am going to walk into the desert and let the scarabs take me”
The other side then happened. When I mess something up, instead of saying it’s bad and perpetuating negative thoughts, swing hard the other way.
Not “this art is terrible” but “this shall be framed and mounted on the wall in my museum exhibition as testament to the suffering I had to overcome”
Have been doing this since high school. It was my drama teacher who asked me to please stop scaring the actors. The other half of the edict was that I had to say it in a polite tone, and end it with either please or thank you.
Life changing. 10/10 Mr Muëller. Highly reccomend.
