there have been 774664 studies on basic income and the results of every single one have been “wow! we gave people money and literally everything improved! crime rates are down! the actual sky is bluer! my (the researcher’s) wife decided not to leave me after all!” but these have all been short studies, just a couple years. i think what’s really missing from the field is a proper long form study, with a broader, bolder demographic, to really get us those numbers we need. a truly diverse study pool like, say, everyone. forever

My grandfather is dying

Hiya! I'm Nova, and for the past year my grandfather's health has been in a bit of a downward spiral. I spent a lot of time last year with him in the ICU, and I worry he is getting worse since being discharged. I consider this man more of a father than my actual dad, and it pains me to see him deteriorate like this.

What pains me even worse, however, is that I am currently halfway across the country as new symptoms are developing and his condition is worsening. I had to move last year to flee domestic violence, and it hurts to be this far away as he gets sicker and sicker.

I want to get as much time with him as I can, both to help him heal and to know I spent my time with him well. I am asking for help in funding the moving costs, as I will be moving halfway across the country and will need to hire cross-country movers, put a deposit down on an apartment, and buy a plane ticket for me and my cat.

they’re calling it block party 2024. just blocking and ignoring countless celebrities who havent said shit about palestine. influencers, actors, anyone who went to the met gala, whatever, they’re getting blocked. and people keep talking about how cathartic it is, how good it feels, how they never realized they could DO that. there was some kind of subconscious law against blocking famous people, but it’s broken, and people are LOVING it. and it’s WORKING. a social media/digital advertising coordinator was talking about how ad companies are PANICKING, because they can’t accurately target anymore. so many big influencers, including fucking LIZZO started talking about palestine the MOMENT their follower counts started going down. and the best part? no one is forgiving them. lizzo posted a tiktok asking people to donate to palestinian families, and all the comments just said you’re a multimillionaire. put your money where your mouth is. blocked.

i feel like i’m witnessing the downfall of celebrity culture, right here right now. people are waking up.
