Hello everyone
This is a very concerning and worrying times as of late. To escape all the madness for a bit and to keep boredom away, I've been reading a lot more again. I'm still rereading the Harry Potter series which I adore and never will get tired of. Now I have a new series to add to my to read list. The first part of 'the seven sisters' series has arrived today and I couldn't be happier. If anyone is reading this post and has read this book, what did you think of it? I can't wait to find out if it's a series i'll really enjoy reading or if it's simply not my cup of tea. I'll probably write my thoughts down about this book as soon as I've finished it.
Love, live, create (and read),
Naomi

Recipe for baked apples or ‘apple dumplings’
There’s this yearly January tradition in Antwerp (Belgium). All the bakeries in the neighborhood would bake sausage rolls and apple dumplings. I had a serious craving for apple dumplings but there was one problem: the bakers always add cinnamon, which I’m allergic to. My craving was huge so I’ve made some myself without the cinnamon.
I am by no means a great cook and this is a fairly simple recipe. But it’s still something I’ve come to enjoy and like to share with you. Hopefully you’ll try it out and enjoy it too!
This is the recipe I’ve followed:
Ingredients (for 4 people):
- 4 apples
- 2 round puff or french pastries (I’ve bought them but you can make your own as well).
- brown sugar
If you like to experiment with the flavors:
- honey
- cold coffee
Recipe:
Pre-heat the oven on 200° or 210° Celsius. (That’s around 392 degrees Fahrenheit if I’m not mistaken.)
Peel the apples and remove the apple core.
Use an apple core remover or cut around the core
Cut the puff pastry in half and put each half around an apple. Mind you, don’t close the pastry on the top side. Leave the opening for what it is for now.
Put brown sugar in the opening where the apple core used to be.
Experiment with the flavor: You can also dip the apple in cold coffee before you put the apple in the pastry. You can also add honey with your sugar mix.
Close the puff pastry on top of the apple.
Smear some egg around it so it gets a nice golden brown color after you’ve baked it.
Put the apple dumplings in the oven and let it bake for about 20 to 25 minutes.
Now enjoy!
