“You realize school starts in like a week, right Simon?” Abby asked. Simon replied with another noise into Bram’s neck, but Bram looked down to the water with a frown. If school started in a week, that meant that he and Simon started talking over email exactly a year ago. Their friends went on with their conversation, dissecting Fahrenheit 451 in true lit nerd fashion, but Bram stayed quiet. It didn’t take long for Simon to realize he wasn’t contributing to the discussion. He placed a soft kiss behind Bram’s ear before whispering, “Is everything okay?” Bram chuckled softly, and turned to kiss Simon’s cheek. “It’s been a year since we started emailing.”
