Do you think its our place to get involved in this whole yogsdrama going on at the moment? My opinion is that they are adults and they will sort it out themselves.

Okay, so: prefacing this with the fact that some people need to disengage for their mental health, and that’s perfectly fine and understandable. That being said…

tl;dr: this has gone beyond drama, the Yogs as a company have proven that they’re definitely not adults and don’t have a history of sorting anything out until forced (see: Ridgedog), and not only do I think it’s our place to get involved, I think it’s our moral responsibility as conscientious consumers and decent human beings to make sure the Yogs address this properly and the whole situation sees some kind of resolution, whatever that resolution may be and regardless of whether the allegations are true. Large bodies of evidence from multiple sources, including the Yogs themselves, seem to indicate that a lot of the allegations are true.

I’ve also provided handy-dandy links for everything major in-text, because fuck yeah sources and citations. This is as comprehensive and fact-based as I can make it, guys, using basically nothing from any of the chatlogs provided by the victims and everything from credible sources, and it’s… still pretty damning, if I’m honest.)

As the facts stand, these accusations were first raised with the Yogs in 2012. This is not up for negotiation, this is a fact - Hannah confirmed in a tumblr post that the screenshots provided by whitecatgeek regarding contacting the Yogs about this were in fact true, and that she passed everything onto higher-ups. She was told not to get involved, to stay quiet, and to tell the victims to go to the police. She had “concerns about staying silent”. Minty, his girlfriend at the time and an ex-Yogs employee, has also confirmed that both she and the Yogs knew this was happening.

So the Yogs have known about this since 2012, whatever you choose to believe “this” is. Regardless of whether you believe some or any of the victims were underage at the time, regardless of whether you believe Sjin acted in a manipulative manner, the facts are these: Sjin has, since at least 2012, contacted multiple fans (not necessarily women, reminder that whitecatgeek is a trans man since everyone seems to forget that) with flirtatious messages. He was in a relationship whilst he did this. These fans were, at the absolute oldest, eighteen or nineteen, whilst he was late twenties / early thirties. Many of the fans felt uncomfortable or manipulated either during their time talking to him or afterwards when they looked back on the conversations. He was, according to Smerry, definitely doing this up until a year ago, when he contacted them with similar messages.

(All this ignores the… I think at this point, five or more? At least five separate individuals, including whitecatgeek, smerry, faeriekitty, moustache-rainbow (there are actually multiple from them on whysjinwhy), and a handful of anonymous sources who have submitted personal accounts, screenshots of messages, and in some cases videos of messages onscreen to yogpetshame / whysjinwhy / problematic yogscast. This is literally just a list of things that have been confirmed beyond doubt by either Yogs of people close enough to the Yogs to be in the know and to have things to lose / libel lawsuits to risk for lying if they spoke up. The chatlogs show a consistent typing style, a consistent style of speech, and a consistent method of manipulation. If we believe all the chatlogs are real - which I personally do, but I’m aware some people have reservations about them being doctored - the evidence becomes beyond damning.)

You mentioned in a tag of yours that 6 yogs related people have taken a stand against (to whatever degree) Lewis and Sjin. Who are they?

Okay, so. Receipts for all of this can be found in my #yogdrama tag, which is only like two pages long and I think covers most of this fairly succinctly. yogpetshame also probably has a tag with screenshots, though a lot of my stuff is from them so there’ll be overlap.

Yog employees: Hannah said in a reply to YPS that she received information about Sjin flirting with fans / underage fans, and passed it all onto Lewis, and that nothing was done. Although she doesn’t outright say she believes the victims, she says “I expressed concerns over staying silent” and “it’s not within my power to take any form of disciplinary action on him”, which… speaks for itself, really. She also made some tweets that were less than complimentary about Lewis and Turps’ behaviour on-stream. 

Also, Lewis and Turps, inadvertently, in trying to dismiss the whole thing, actually acknowledged on the stream that Sjin has flirted with fans - for all they deny there was anything manipulative about it, and that the fans were underage, Lewis mentioned on-stream not long ago that they had a rule about getting flirty with fans, so Sjin is at least in violation of that.

Ex-yog employees: Minty and Teutron, obviously. They’ve said a lot, so I’m not going to go over all of it, but basically - Minty said she was aware of all this going on at the time she was dating Sjin, and that she absolutely believes the victims. Teutron has also stood up for the victims, and said that way back in 2012 when he was brought down prior to even being an employee, there was “damage control” in place, because Sjin had “received nudes from a 16 year old”. So much for no underage, huh.

(Baron-norris, who idk if they’re a current or ex employee, though I suspect ex, hasn’t said anything against Sjin specifically, but has spoken up about how Lewis and Turps handled the situation, and also about how the Yogs in general treat artists. I’ve talked to a lot of other artists who have been in contact with the Yogs who’ve backed up the fact that working for the Yogs as an artist is a really, really bad idea. The Yogs also have a long history of art theft and plagiarism, which I don’t have sources for rn but is basically common knowledge. Youtubeknits, who’s also worked closely with the Yogs I believe, has spoken up against Lewis and Turps’ handling of the situation too.)

Yog mods: both Smerrytumbles and Sadpearonmars have resigned as mods over this. . Smerry said Sjin approached them personally with flirtatious advances a year ago, which directly contradicts Lewis’ “oh it was three years ago” bullshit. (Also, this isn’t in my tag, but Sejii who apparently modded for the Yogs has… not exactly come out against Sjin, but made several posts to the tune of “fuck you, Yogs” and “everyone get off of this sinking ship whilst you can”, which isn’t a particularly great endorsement of the Yogs.)

Yog associates: Beckii Cruel (bcky on tumblr) who is admittedly not a Yog but is a close friend of Sparkles*, an ex-Yog, made a post saying she has it on “good authority” that, when the initial accusations came out a few years ago, Lewis had words with Sjin about it - again contradicting the whole “oh nothing ever happened really” bullshit Lewis is trying to sell. She also criticised Lewis and Turps’ handling of it. Sjin’s girlfriend, Nijuukoo on twitter, also tweeted “fuck you Lewis”, so take that as you will.

Even excluding Sejii, Baron-norris, Youtubeknits, Nijuukoo, Lewis, and Turps as sources, since the first four didn’t specifically talk about Sjin and the second two did what amounted to a poor, ranting attempt at a cover-up, we’re up at six - Hannah, Minty, Teutron, Smerry, Sadpear, and Beckii. Including those other ones, we’re at twelve. Including the now… oh, I think there’s at least five people talking about Sjin contacting them, we’re well on our way to nearly twenty freaking people of various degrees of Yog-association talking about how something happened between Sjin and a number of fans.

At this point, trying to deny that anything happened is completely ridiculous and untenable - and the Yogs really need to work out an official statement to make (other than a drunken livestream rant), because the longer they try to pretend nothing happened the more suspicious it looks. Even if their official line is “none of the people were underage, and we have no company policy against an employee flirting with fans ten years younger than him, whilst he’s in a relationship, despite the obvious power imbalance this inherently has and the moral skeeviness of it all”, they need to say something.

In relation to older stuff we brought up, there’s this post with video to prove no photo manipulation is going on. This was merely to establish he is contacting fans.

Sjin’s messages in 2013 between him and another person regarding if he shares her nudes as he did so with other fans.

And as added extra, the demand for an apology which Lewis skimmed over.

lol I’m not surprised. The reason its bought back up time and time again, is because its still ongoing! Yet apparently, that’s ok! oh, and also I was told it was mentioned I didn’t come into the office after being told? Turps actually said, it wasn’t necessary to come in during that period so long as emails were still done and emails/passwords etc was passed over to someone else which I emailed him, and to use that time to find another job :) I even sent them a reminder email after christmas, reminding content creators to remove me as an admin because many people forgot. Very curtious of me considering I’m an ‘evil employee’ don’t ya think?

I see a few people responding to the resurgence of the Sjin case by saying “I’m withholding judgement until the Yogscast respond to this.”

I would love for them to respond. I would have loved for them to respond years ago. Any kind of resolution would be great.

But if prior history holds, unless something ridiculous happens like Hannah realizes she doesn’t have to protect Sjin anymore because she’s completely self employed and no longer working in the office, there will be no tidy resolution. And surely Kim might realize that her struggles with bullying are refracted in the struggles Sjins’ victims have faced, but like as not it won’t happen.

I’m sorry, I’m being passive aggressive.

Go tell Kim and Hannah to give the argument an end.

Anonymous Submission Regarding Sjin

It grates on me so much that people are defending Sjin’s actions because they are technically not illegal.

It’s technically not illegal for somebody to say to their partner ‘if you loved me, you’d do this’ - but it’s still a dick move and emotional manipulation.

When Sjin first messaged me I was overwhelmed, I was like ‘can this be real?’ of course I doubted it was him. He voice called me to assure me it was.

Our chats started innocent enough - I still thought it was SO COOL that he was talking to me. (I was 18 at the time, which means legal, but also just out of a heavy breakup which I had told him about, and not in the best place self esteem wise)

I asked him how he came up with his username, he replied with a few messages before saying “Have you gone to bed? And I was so looking forward to you too :P”

This is August of 2013, BTW

I became suspicious, and asked “Not sure if really Sjin now” And he assured me it was. I asked if he talked to many of his fans, he told me that no, I was special.

He stopped replying for a bit, and I was disappointed because OMG SJIN, so I sent “And I was so looking forward to flirting with you ;)” - when he suddenly started replying a lot more

He then started to back off, saying he had a girlfriend (This was Minty), which I wasn’t sure about at the time since it was slightly all more private than it is now. My response was;

“Aww, broken heart, sir,”

Sjin: Aww :( You are welcome to send me naked pictures still <3"

I changed the subject and asked why he started chatting to me, he said “Because you looked cute!”

I wished him luck with his girlfriend, and he said to me “I’ve actually been thinking of breaking up with her”

I was like Wow, he must trust me to tell me this, so tried to offer a friendly shoulder to lean on and maybe some advice

He told me that she ‘Makes awful assumptions and sticks by them a lot’ - and essentially told me that he won’t talk to any females now because she’s crazy jealous (I’m sorry Minty)

Things got lighter again until

ME: I never got to hear the story of your name!

Sjin: I never got to see you naked

I sent him a somewhat revealing (Not nude) cosplay of me in an Elfen Leid costume

Sjin: damn that’s hot :3 you’re not supposed to show me things that make me want to have sex with you :<

The story finally did get told -

when I was like 16 and playing dungeons and dragons I had a crush on a girl online :P, and she said errr, it was a drow word for poison and I thought it was a cool word, so I used it for my wizard character dude, back then it was “S'jin”, and then I played WoW, made a night elf called Sjin. and it stuck

Then he surprised me by saying “I have a problem” - “I dont know if I can resist the urge to flirt with fans :<”

He did insist I was special, by saying I’m one of the only people he felt he could really talk to (Maybe 3 weeks to a month have passed at this point)

He asked again about flirting with fans

Sjin: What if I do it really badly?

Me: How do you mean?

Sjin: To the point where they send nudes :s

Me: uhhh yeah don’t do that, especially considering…how old are they?

Sjin: Well one was 13

(NOTE I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING IF HE SAID THE TRUTH HERE, IT’S JUST WHAT WAS SAID TO ME BY HIM)

Sjin: Idk I find myself looking for something, like I want the attention. Early life was exceptionally lonely, I was pretty much a hermit who spoke to nobody IRL

I told him it’s wrong to take advantage of how many girls admire him/other yogs members, ’especially if they are underage, since they aren’t really mentally developed enough to decide whether sending pictures is something they want to do, they can’t see any future consequences’

On the 24th of the 8th he said “I think from this day on I’m just going to stop talking to people, except you, you are immune to my charms anyway”

PLEASE NOTE: I genuinely thought he saw me as a friend, that he cared about me

He told me at this point a LOT of inappropriate things (I don’t know how true) about his and his girlfriends sex life, that I had forgotten until this point, that I won’t repeat for respect to Minty

He told me about how he was somewhat jealous of Duncan, and didn’t think it was fair that he got more views than him, since he considered Duncan’s stuff kind of boring

He said some mean things about almost everyone else -

’rythian got pretty depressed for a while because me sips and duncan kinda climbed pretty fast and people ignored him which is his own fault really rythian only did lets plays, he was stubborn about 'selling out’ to minecraft and he’s super boring to watch on his own’

27/8 6:11PM: He said: Ok sorry I made a tumblr

6:38: Should I post a cat picture, I’ll post a cat picture

On the 29th we had another long conversation about how 'controlling’ his girlfriend was, which is a little awkward to read back now knowing what Minty would have had to go through, seeing her 28 year old boyfriend flirting with 17-20 year olds (As she said in her post)

on the 29/8 he told me “I don’t love her anymore"

(At this point, he hadn’t told me who his girlfriend was, just that she existed. This was when he told me it was awkward because he worked with her)

He told me “Honestly I feel more affection for you than her :P”

I said that I hope he managed to work things out, cause breakups are hard

5/9, 12:28 am: I think I just broke up with my girlfriend

He told me it was over an argument about bananas

An hour later he messaged me saying that he looked through my tumblr to find any slightly sexy photos I had posted, and told me “Seriously now I have a hardon at the office”

'I wish I could hear you moan while you fuck yourself with a dildo yes :< and I wish I could lick it clean :<’

AND SERIOUSLY, even reading back some of the messages now, I GENUINELY THOUGHT HE HAD FEELINGS FOR ME. I really did think he was being truthful.

9/7: I took your advice remember, no more flirting with fans

(There are probably other fans who spoke to him who can attest to how much of a LIE this was)

OH here is something good, he told me one of the people he was working with was a male model, and sent me a picture of Strippin from Strippin’s private facebook page

I don’t think Strippin had released this - so how would somebody impersonating Sjin get it, Or me for that matter?

Around the 9/9 some stuff happened with a blog called yogfessions, a fan messaged saying about how Sjin had spoken to her. I asked him about it, and he stopped replying to me for a bit, so to get his attention again I jokingly mentioned something about knickers - and it worked, he was suddenly interested in talking again!

3/10 I noted 'You don’t talk to me much anymore :<

4/10 He told me it’s because he and Minty got back together, and she would be jealous

Still 4/10 He asked if I would ever come to Bristol, if he bought me the ticket

5/10 we talked on skype for a few hours, then he stopped replying on facebook again

25/10 Several messages have gone by with him avoiding the conversation/me in general

4/11 I realised why he’s not been talking to me, which is about when the WhySjinWhy blog came up, or something similar. I told him I felt betrayed and hurt, that I thought he actually enjoyed chatting with me, but that he was bored now and moved onto another girl. I spoke to another girl who he used the same lines on - 'I’m starting to fall for you’ being one of them.

So the problems lie not with the legality, the problems lie with 1. Using your influence as a person thats admired to make a person feel grateful to be talking to you

2. Emotionally manipulating them, saying you care about them. Then slowly letting that care drop until they show you nude pictures or tempt you with sexual innuendo.

I’m sorry there aren’t screenshots, the account on Facebook has been deleted. It just says 'Facebook user’ now. And for those who question 'why does the icon look different’ in other screencaps, I found the reason for that too. Sjin told me that everyone had upgraded to the new icons that 'a guy called Teutron’ had designed. So there you go.

The typing style you reference matches up exactly to the one he uses in the screenshots I’ll be posting later today and I’m sure when it comes to dates that other people can back up these claims. - Mod A

Yogscast Sjin - A threat?

[Content Warning: Child sexual abuse, underage sexual relationships, manipulation]  Most of this post will be under a cut so that you don’t have to be involuntarily subjected to this.

Also known as - the longest God damn Tumblr post ever. Serious commendation if you somehow read this long, confusing mess.

Okay so I have been holding off of doing this for two years, but having seen some similar issues popping up around Tumblr recently I decided to do this and get it out of my system.

Basically, this is for me, and I am aware that it means that I am probably going to get an extremely negative amount of attention directed at me, but it is like water off of a duck’s back. Ultimately I guess that this post exists because I do not know if Sjin is behaving like I want to believe that he is, and I am so worried about the possibility of him making people (fans, vulnerable) feel bad.

I would also like to make it clear that I have never and will never have any ill feelings towards Kim or Hannah, they are two of the nicest people that I have ever spoken to and I wish them nothing but the best. Please do not, under any circumstances, hassle them about this.

The same goes for Erin, Sjin’s girlfriend, who is an absolute delight, and Sjin’s ex, Minty, who again joins the tally of people who are just shockingly lovely.

Want to direct your anger somewhere? As much as I look up to him, direct it at Lewis.

Also, a disclaimer: No, I’m not going to produce any screenshots here. Do I have them? Yes. So why am I not posting them? Because I don’t need to. I do not fancy blurring out details like usernames and locations, and I really do not care even in the slightest that you do not believe me. It is irrelevant.
