some people on here need a gentle reminder that arospecs ARE aromantic. thats the point of the aromantic spectrum. that being aromantic.. is a spectrum. ive had demiromantic people ask me if they can call themselves aromantic. YES OF COURSE YOU CAN YOU ARE AROMANTIC. im sure some people choose to identify more as arospec than aromantic and thats fine, but in general, arospecs ARE aromantic, by virtue of being on the aromantic spectrum. like aromanticism is defined as little to none romantic attraction. the ‘little’ part of that is there for a reason.

i think the worst thing about the whole “anti-woke” culture is how it’s not only dumbing down people (folks are literally forgetting pronouns are an actual word class, an inseperable part of grammar and everyday speech) but also praising meanness and insensibility above all. it has managed to make malice and unkindness synonymous with factfulness and reason as if intelligence didn’t stem from emotions. as if feelings weren’t the very core of human beings. as if knowledge wasn’t achieved through passion, sympathy, and open-mindedness. as if the whole crux of this entire anti-wokeness movement wasn’t rooted in pure unadulterated emotion of hatred and hostility.

how is "women+" any different from "women*" or "womxn" or the many other variations of this? why come up with yet another term to forcibly include us in IWD and womanhood as a whole? if it's truly inclusive of nonbinary people, why still only call women by name? if it's about "anyone who doesn't identify as a man", why not just say that instead of centring women? and if it's supposed to include nonbinary people but not people who identify as men, what about nonbinary men?

also, if i see "women+" in the wild, how am i supposed to know who it's meant to include? like women* or womxn, it's very vague and unclear whether it's meant to include women and nonbinary people, women and all trans people, anyone oppressed by the patriarchy, or, like i've seen womxn or women* used before, anyone with a uterus. whichever option it is, it's forcing a lot of trans people back into womanhood and misgendering us.

"women+" doesn't make sense the way LGBTQ+ does. "women" is a single group of people, and it doesn't follow a pattern so we can determine who is included in the +. LGBTQ+ follows a pattern of listing genders and orientations that are rejected by cisheteronormativity, it's obvious to most people who is included in the +. then there's also terms like bi+, which includes bi people and people with similar orientations, i.e. anyone else attracted to multiple genders. if we applied that logic to women+, it would include anyone else with similar genders, basically still calling all nonbinary people women-lite.

apparently saying "nonbinary people aren't women lite" is no longer enough, we also need to start saying "we're not women plus" too.

#in my experience anyone who creates weird words like this is usually a terf #so like idk why anyone would genuinely wanna use these pointless words #it does way more harm than good to nonbinary people #basically just terf rhetoric in disguise

Really don't enjoy how a lot of people's responses to social or political issues is "love is the answer!!!" Even setting aside how this sentiment implies all loveless folks are incapable of doing good or being kind, it's also just. Not helpful? No, your personal emotions are not gonna save the day. Being kind on purpose, however, will cause positive change, if only to one person. If, to you, being kind is how you show love, that's great, but please recognize those emotions alone are not how you actually help people. Everyone in the world could love each other and we'd still have issues, because love does not prevent cruelty or hurt. In fact, a lot of issues in the world are due to people being cruel in the name of or out of love, care, or concern. You can't just love and be done with it, you need to do some work to make sure that your love isn't being weaponized or used as a reason to hurt others. You need to analyze your actions to make sure you're not falling into cruel mindsets. You need to recognize that you could have the best of intentions and still unintentionally cause pain. Love is not the answer when the request is to be kind. Emotions are not the answer when the question is of action.

I was just scrolling the Nex Benedict tag when I stumbled upon a porn bot. In a tag that really means a lot to a very vulnerable community. Shamelessly. Tagged with not just their name, but a variety of LGBTQ+ tags as well.

Tumblr, we don't want you to remove trans folks for showing the progress of thier bodies.

Tumblr, we don't want you to ban accounts for speaking up about fair treatment.

Tumblr, we don't want you to flag posts on topics that are important to us.

What we want, Tumblr, nay, what we need is for you to stop this from happening. This right here triggers a lot of people and seems very disrespectful to the situation at hand. We need you to start looking into the accounts that unhealthily fetishize our sexualities. We need you to ban the blogs that target trans people just to body shame them. We need you to remove the (bot) posts that invade LGBTQ safe spaces because those tags are trending. We need you to stop destroying the community, and start protecting it.

i have some unpopular opinions about the use of the term neurodivergent but if we’re gonna use it can we talk about how neurodivergent includes people with eating disorders. people with personality disorders. people with neurodegenerative disorders like dementia. people with neurological disorders like epilepsy. people with substance use disorders. neurodivergent isn’t just autism and adhd. “neurodivergent traits” isn’t a synonym for “autism/adhd traits.”
