"Jamie, come on it's starting." Lily called, sat on the couch with a bouncing baby Harry on her lap. From her seat, she could see her husband stood at the window, watching, as he had for many months now. Most nights Lily found herself waking to the spot beside her in bed vacant and searching the home for only a short amount of time before finding him at the window, scanning the empty streets as if Voldemort himself was going to appear at any moment. She knew why, as the rumors of an attack on the family grew every day, but she refused to allow them to shut off entirely, especially not when today was Hallowe’en. With Harry in her arms, the redhead made her way towards the sitting room with the idea of stealing James away to watch the Charlie Brown special airing, a tradition of theirs since their first holiday as a married couple, a Muggle tradition she insisted upon. Instead, Lily stopped at the sight of James. This war, this fear had changed the man. Not so much physically, but the internal changes had taken a toll on the both of them undoubtedly. The Mudblood carving in her arm has faded into a small scar, the many bruises and cuts James had been left with all healed, but they carried certain unseen scars that would never fade. It saddened her to see him so focused on such a horrible task. Protecting them from a fate they both knew the outcome of. Lily wouldn't allow them to worry tonight. They were here, with their son who was more light than they had ever known. "Come on you." Lily repeated, standing beside James with Harry on her hip, the little boy reaching for his father. Leaning into James, Lily pressed the softest of kisses to his neck, as if to break him from this trance he had found himself in, and before she knew it, her husband's arm had snaked around her waist before reaching for Harry in the other. "There's one thing we must do before the film, Lils. You haven't forgotten have you?" James asked with that devastating smirk Lily found herself weak over, the smirk she saw less and less of as the days went on. "I just wasn't sure you'd be up for it." She smiled, a soft shrug as she wrapped her arms around him and Harry alike. Guiding their family back towards the tv, James reached for the camera, pressing his lips against Lily's and snapping the camera. Moments later the enchanted camera produced an animated Polaroids that brought tears to Lily's eyes. Harry with his brightest smile and his parents, as in love as they were the day they became an us. While James attended to their wild child son, Lily flipped the photograph over and jotted the date on the back, and for the first time in so very long, she felt hope...'Our happiest Hallowe’en, 1981.'
