What distinguishes visual art from craft?

I do not think there is a difference. Your craft, especially when you are an artist, no matter the medium, is visual. These two are the same.

Has there been a person or experience that has steered your work in new or significant directions?

The people who effect my art is the people who helped inspire it. Directors like Wes Anderson, Spielberg, Lucas, Cameron and others helped shape my outlook on film and how to make it. Artists inspire other artists.
