Tentacles
Tumblr media
This has now been updated I was going for some tentacles coming out of a pentagram vibe. Something spooky and maybe... a little more? Horrifying and exciting, just as tentacles should be. Print it with supports or they'll break off. I printed scaled up to about 200mm tall for a decent sized sculpture. amovitz

Solid box with origami folding lids. (easy print)
Tumblr media
Please welcome the newest member of the family: a heart-shaped box with the same kind of lids. (It's almost Valentine's Day) About this model: The sequel to my earlier Luxurious Storage Box with Origami Folding Lid(s) I have completely gone back to basics with the aim of creating the same effect but now with fully mechanical working parts. So without bending single-layer flexible hinges, without spring constructions to secure the axles and without magnets to clamp. Everything is 100% printable and much more robust. The design is also more forgiving for less well-tuned printers and there is no need for a prescribed orientation for the print paths. The hinges are integrated within the thickness of the lids and the box even contains a mechanical locking of the lids without spring parts. startknop

I added a bit of supports to help the bridge on the hinge, but probably you can get around without any supports at all. fotoianmontes

Strong Sword (No glue, assembles smooth! Also a story about banana bread)
Tumblr media
Are you a sword enthusiast who knows a thing or two? Well, I'm not, and this was never about swords for me. It's always been about banana bread. This all started two months ago when my friend, an actual clown, asked if I could print them a specific sword from Naruto. I haven't seen Naruto, and—as I said—I know nothing about swords, but I'm not one to shy away from a challenge, so I said "sure!" Come to find out, Zabuza's sword is eight feet long. EIGHT FEET. It took me an entire month, two rolls of PLA, and thirty-five interlocking components to finish the project after a bunch of failures and mistakes on my part. It was a mess. I got literally sick from PLA fumes. Whatever, I'm not here to talk about THAT sword. I got it done, the clown bought it, and it's out of my hands now. See, the problem is that I got confident afterwards. I'd printed an eight foot sword. It rocked. What else could I do? I did what every confident man does, and I wrote about it in my Tinder bio. That's right. I said something corny like "anyone can buy you flowers, but I can make you a sword." I thought it was funny, and what was the worst thing that could happen? I'd have to print another (smaller) sword and meet someone new because of it? Sure enough, someone matched with me soon after. Their bio said they were perfecting a recipe for banana bread, which is a huge part of why I swiped right. I like me some banana bread. Naturally, I proposed a trade: A sword for a loaf, a loaf for a sword. And to my delight, this deal was struck between us. I sprang into action, opened up my license-expired Fusion 360 window (fun fact: they can't kick you out of the program if you keep the window open when your license expires), and began a new custom sword design. There's something to be said about starting from scratch, and I really let my creativity loose on this thing: Spiral extrusions, wide revolves, and chamfers galore. Best of all, the Zabuza sword taught me how to make it all fit rigidly together without glue. Small pins join sections of the blade, and its two halves meet in a narrow dovetail. The hilt slides down over the blade, locking in place with the threaded handle. Not to toot my own horn, but this thing came out real elegant. Eager for that sweet, sweet banana bread, I got back on Tinder to arrange a time and place for our trade, but alas! My match vanished. Unmatched me. No clear reason, just gone. So here I am, loafless, with a sword I never wanted but can't bear to waste. May you enjoy it more than I have. If you do, I would greatly appreciate any tips sent to my Paypal link via the blue 'Tip Designer' button. All tips will go directly to banana bread. giedzinski

Honeycomb Nintendo Switch Grip
Tumblr media
I wanted to print myself a grip for my Nintendo Switch, but did not like the available options, since they were all a bit bulky & did not look very nice. So I did one myself. Furthermore I wanted to see how far I can push my 3D Printer. Simply slide in your Switch from the top, as long as you dont plan to play upside down, gravity will keep it in place. You can't generate automatic supports, since they will most likely mess everything up. The mid piece has the supports already in the .stl file & for the grip you need to place a small cube inside your slicer. I attached a screenshot, where you need to place it. Here a small tutorial for CURA custom supports by CHEP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=owgUmQao2ME I printed all the parts with a raft, without it the print would get knocked over at some point. But you know your printer best, so it's up to you to use them. To get the left side grip, simply mirror it in the slicer. At the end I glued the grips to the mid piece, but it also works well if you simply stick them in, maybe you need to to some sanding for the clearence. Update 20230123: Uploaded a whole version for people who want to print it at once, instead of gluing the pieces. Uploaded the Switch reference mesh, this is not an exact replica of the model, just a rough measure STRGnine

Headset Hanger V1.5
Tumblr media
This Headset Hanger fits desks from a height of 5mm to 40mm. Use the Long screw for desks thinner than 18mm. I printed it with a 4mm nozzle and a layer height of 0.2mm with PLA on My Ender 3 which worked well for me. Some people may need to do some trimming or sanding to fit the thread into the hanger as it is a tight fit but it is designed like that so it is secure. The maximum headset width is 4cm which is enough to fit most headsets like my Steelseries Artis 1. Also, be careful when screwing the screw in for the first time as you can damage the threads because it screws in quite tightly but it loosens up as you screw it in further. I have also shared this design on Printables.com for convenience https://www.printables.com/model/361953-headset-hanger-v1 . By the way if you can see any issues with this design or anything that can be improved then please tell me your ideas in the comments section as I read all of the comments on my designs. Thank You. UPDATE (V1.5) I have kept the thread the same so that if you were struggling with the screw before, you can keep the thread and print a new screw. I have adjusted the tolerance on the screw and have moved it by 0.1mm which will make a huge difference while still keeping snug. I have shown some images of the changes I made to the screw which may be helpful to some people. I have also added the CAD fusion files to this design with both new screws so people can make remakes of this design. Thank you for the support and feedback. Jakooby

Cord keeper
Tumblr media
Have you ever zip-tied a cable into a looped bundle, but then later realized you wanted to undo a few loops because you didn't tie it to the right length? This part allows you to do that. This one fits a Cat5 UTP cable snugly. The default cord thickness is 5.62mm 20mm prongs: taper at 2.50 deg. 30mm prongs: taper at 2.00 deg. 40mm prongs: taper at 1.75 deg. If you need to wrap a different cord, open the link to the Onshape document: there are parameters for cord thickness, prong length, depth, prong_taper_angle, etc. TimboInSpace

Geometric cat wall art
Tumblr media
Geometric cat wall art: Default size is around 150cmx70cm 106 pcs All parts are numbered on the back and here you can find the numbers assignment : geometric-cat-wallart.pdf If you want print a realsize "map" on A4 pages, you can use this pdf (print without margin and reseazing) : geometric-cat-wallart-fullsize.pdf (sorry numbers are reversed it's from my 3D sketch to embed numbers on the back of each pieces ) Design inspiration : threeleaves About the eye, there are 2 versions: one full (number 6) and another in 2 pieces (eye-ext and eye-int). from my side I only used the eye-ext and put and half ball (10mm) inside. To fix all parts on the wall, I used velcro tape, in this way I can replace de piece or change pieces for another color and the main point is: it will be easier to remove the velcro tape from the wall if needed. other stuff on pictures: Birds (hummingbird/colibri) eye : faceted ball (rezize to 10~11mm and printed half z = -0.5) or you can use this customizable hemisphere (openSACD) DIY wifi rgb lamp (in french...) Battery Dispenser- AAA - AA - 9V
Tumblr media
All credits to Bradk3 for the idea. Battery Dispenser for AAA, AA and 9V batteries, 152,5x127x58mm I did not like the screw-holes on the side of the original Battery holder, so I decided to redesign the battery holder. The screw-holes are now hidden on the inside. I had to print the dispencer twice: In the first design, my finger could not grip the battery to shove it out. I have enlarged the space in the bottom and in the front. The opening is now 1/2 of the length of the battery -4mm for stability. Now it works just fine. I have added radii to improve stiffness, strength and printability. It can be printed without support except for the Skadis design. Print it straight up, the bottom touching the printbed. Update 6-01-2023 Upon request: Added a design for the Ikea Skadis board. John, thanks for testing! Update 13-01-2023 Upon request: Added a design with AA an AAA alone. (9V removed) TaLun, thanks for testing and the nice pictures! Update 20-01-2023 Upon request: Added a small design. 1xAAA, 2xAAA and 1x9V. Heigth reduced to 123mm. Giesgast
