Moving Soon To Beijing, Want Some Tips
I'm moving to Beijing later this year and I wanted to ask some Chinese nationals or expats about a few things as a way of preparing myself to going there. I'd appreciate your help with answering these questions.
I’ve been studying mandarin for a few months now and I’m already reaching a pretty good level. However what I know very little about there is the culture and traditions.
Are there things which I might find regular/usual that actually might be taboo/inappropriate to Chinese people?
Are Chinese people friendly in general and open to conversation like Egyptian/Brazilian people or not like German people for example.
How concerned should I be of getting hustled for example as a foreigner as this is something I read about quite often.
Is using a VPN there common/allowed as the transition from what one commonly uses to an all Chinese system of applications seem a bit too ubrupt at least for the start.
And finally do you have any tips in general for life in China or with dealing with the new culture and society that might help a fish out of water like me.
