Issues
Did not know how to make website mockup
did not know how to screenshot whole website
Solution:
Screenshot issue answer: https://jimmyrose.me/full-webpage-screenshots/
Website mockup - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ijoJY40kP8&t=556s
Reflect: This was the first time I had made a website. I did not know how to export the video or make a video mockup however I looked into it and it wasn't too hard at all.

Home page for the website.
Feedback: illustrations are consistent.
Like the play on word "For Paws".
It's more friendly and approachable than SPCA.
Strong branding
Seems like it is targeting towards young families.
Originally thought we had the animals <- work on that.
Good for information.
Add more:
More information into animals around small kids. Certain breeds are more active. Box with simple solution. No one will really read paragraphs so small bullet points. For map filter pet stores and only show shelters.

Class survey
From Kyani (20), Jenna (21), Owen(20), and Emma (20)
Written by David Kim
Do you own a pet?
¾ have pets (cats, rabbit) ¼ used to have cats.
Have you ever considered adopting/getting a pet? And where from ?
100% Yes
SPCA or other rescued animal.
Got (adopted) from someone who was giving cats away.
From Friend who moved.
Pet shop (Before it was made illegal to buy them there).
Would you consider adopting from a shelter? Why ?
100% Yes
Always want to help the animals that are often overlooked.
Adopting from an animal shelter to save them from being put down.
To give the pet a home.
How old do you think someone needs to be in order to adopt responsibly?
(If by yourself) ¼ 16-18,  ¾ 20+
Need to have a stable living situation and income or to live with parents.
Life changes way too much to invest in one before your secure advice i have had is wait till you buy a house.
.
Why would you adopt from a pet store (or anywhere else except from shelter).
If there was a specific breed of pet I wanted.
It depends on the reasoning of letting the pet go.
It was really easy to browse the puppies back in the day, it didn't take too much effort. Pet shops were entertainment for small kids.
What can a campaign do to encourage you to adopt responsibility/ from shelters? (They said they liked this question!)
Awareness on the issue of people not getting pets for the right reasons (novelty).
Make people aware what will happen to the animals if they don’t adopt.
Provide critical information on adoption, pets and things to know before you adopt a pet.
Share a pet's journey from shop, shelter, re-homed, shelter ect. Create empathy for the individual animal?
Why do you think people abandon pets?
They don’t realise the amount of work, money, and time that gets put into adopting a pet.
They don’t want to be responsible for it or have had a decrease in income and can’t afford to keep it.
Busy, Moving, Money
It is very unpredictable and people would pick giving up an animal rather than be homeless. People crave security.
Do you think animal age is important during adoption?
100% No
Depends on the situation. (New = Family or partner (like a child), Adult = Rescue pet)
No, but people prefer to have it from a young age to train it.
It depends on the circumstances ( Friendly cats suits the old people better than a kitten)
Do you think you are currently in a position to adopt?
100% No
Don’t have a steady income that can go towards a pet.
Not planning to stay in NZ
No times for a pet (Studying, Working)
Money (Too much)
Do you think animal cruelty is abandoning pets on the streets?
50% Yes, 50% Don’t know
Do you own a pet?
50% No 50% Yes
Have you ever considered adopting/getting a pet? And where from ?
100% Yes
Would you consider adopting from a shelter? Why ?
100% Yes. Because these animals need a home and most people go to pet stores.
How old do you think someone needs to be in order to adopt responsibly?
75% said 18 years old, 25% said 20 years old.
Why would you adopt from a pet store (or anywhere else except from shelter).
Because I can’t find shelter
It is a lot easier to look for pet store
More choices at pet store
Pets at pet store are already well taken care of
What can a campaign do to encourage you to adopt responsibility/ from shelters?
Emotional impact - Showing situations
Maybe a checklist for what you need to know before you adopt
Why do you think people abandon pets?
Travelling
Moving
Financial reasons
Behaviour issues
Do you think animal age is important during adoption?
Depends on what your motives were. For me I would rather go for a puppy than a senior dog. I wouldn’t want to worry about health issues right off the bat.
100% Yes
Do you think you are currently in a position to adopt?
100% No
Too many life commitments + money is an issue
Do you think animal cruelty is abandoning pets on the streets?
100% yes. Why adopt an animal if you are going to abandon it? Give it to someone who knows the dog. That way it’s in a familiar place.

Website development based off of feedback from group + friends.  I will be making 3 designs in total. “Animals available”, “Shelters near you”, and “About us”. These will be the 3 tabs that will be designed. The tabs are inspired by feedback from survey done in class + Tati feedback. The campaign wants to make sure it is informative, easy to navigate.

Hello
We are 3rd year AUT communication design students (David, Naina, Rachel, and Tan) who are doing a campaign about encouraging the public to adopt from animal shelters. To make this project effective we have decided to look into doing an interview with a staff member to understand the issue first hand and also do a photoshoot at the shelters to show the public how cute, friendly and well-behaved these animals are. We were wondering if it would be alright to do this shoot at your shelter + interview.
The interview should only take around 20 mins and the photoshoot only takes an hour and a half max.
We are available between the 18th to the 22nd from 12pm to 5pm. If these dates and times work for you please let us know!
Thank you
