CAEL2041_experimental instrument_520160141
I tried to use a big Coke bottle but that didn't work so I switched to a smaller bottle for the instrument. I originally intended to use frequency to make the bottle vibrate and spin, but when I put the device on the chopsticks, because the bottle was too light and there happened to be wind in the air, the bottle spun without frequency. The next step is to make the instrument: first get the device to balance the chopsticks on, then get four rubber bands, a pair of chopsticks, two small plastic bottles (about 450ml), a small fan (you can use it), and two metal objects to fix to the plastic bottle. Below is a video of the assembly.
Once it's assembled, it's ready to play. The reason why I chose chopsticks is that they can't stay calm all the time, so it makes the instrument full of uncertainty, you don't know when it's going to fall off. The falling sound is very loud, which is inspired by the timpani Concerto. This piece of music requires the drummer to bang his head into the drum at the end, which I think is very interesting, so I borrowed this way -- under unknown circumstances, at the end of the performance, fall down and make a loud noise, which represents the end of the performance.

Inspiration Blog For CAEL2041 Project 1
At first I was trying to achieve a 'spooky' feel by adding some sounds with a techno element to the audio. But after I heard the sounds I had recorded, I realised that there was something more natural that could replace what was done electronically. The whole inspiration for the audio came from the process of collecting sounds that I wanted to use to recreate the whole process. But with some storytelling. For example, the sound of the door closing twice, the first time representing opening the door and walking into the world of the sea, and the second time closing the door representing me leaving that world. It creates a kind of first and last echo, so that there is an articulation throughout the audio.

When I first heard that piano piece, it brought me a feeling of hope in despair. Many people may think that this piece is sad, but in my opinion, this piece is full of hope and makes me think of the current covid-19, people living in this catastrophic virus attack, human beings did not give up their lives because of the epidemic, instead, they are constantly developing vaccines, and daily life The protective measures used. So I mixed this piano piece in order to let the audience feel the strength of human beings and our never-say-die spirit.
Tumblr media
I used the piano as the theme and the bass and drummer as other instruments to show the spirit of "hope", and I also added some chords to make the whole song more gentle with the powerful drummer, because I wanted to reflect the "humanity”. I also added some chords to make the whole song more gentle with the drummer's powerful drums, because I wanted to reflect the "humanity". The ending of the piece is an abrupt stop, because I hope that Covid-19 will one day suddenly disappear and stop making humans suffer. In the process of realizing this artistic vision, I experimented with a variety of instruments with the library band, initially planning to use the organ, which is commonly used in churches, as the "hope" part, but then I realized that the bass, although mostly used in rock music, could also have a "gentle" Secondly, in order to make the music more "hopeful", we wanted to use the organ in church. Secondly, I added some vocal to make the word "human" more prominent in the music, but I don't have professional tools for vocal modification, so the sound will affect the overall effect of the music and will be more prominent, but I tried my best to make the vocal sound less awkward and prominent.
I've never tried using cubase pro, but I mixed this track by using tutorials shared by others on bilibili and youtube, as well as other social media.

This beat track is the finishing touch for me, the highlight of the whole piece. With the addition of this beat, it gives my tune a bright spot to listen to and highlights the 'heavy rain'. But I didn't want it to be too noisy to cover the main melody, so I turned its treble down to a negative value.
Tumblr media
I gave my tune a bit of a beat with Maurice. I didn't use this at first because I wanted to layer my tune and give it a progressive feel.Depending on the sound size of the main melody, I made a small adjustment on this track to keep it from overpowering the main melody and I made it less prominent in the treble, so I turned Treble to negative values.
Tumblr media
Here are all the tracks of this piece. I have made some changes in the back based on the melody of the draft.
Tumblr media
It's the main theme of my whole song. I personally love blues, so the whole song is blues, and this is the main theme that runs through the whole song, and all the tracks change around it.
Tumblr media
To give the music a more rhythmic feel, I recorded myself snapping my fingers, which are used here to give rhythmic variety.
Tumblr media
This part of the track is a fast beat bell sound, and during the production I wanted to have a strong contrast, contrasting heavy rain with light rain. So this track will be louder and more urgent than the bell track at the beginning, representing the heavy rain.

This beat track is the finishing touch for me, the highlight of the whole piece. With the addition of this beat, it gives my tune a bright spot to listen to and highlights the 'heavy rain'.
Tumblr media
The beat of this track is slower than the previous one because the 'rain' has become lighter, so it's back to a slow-paced bell sound.
Tumblr media
At the end, I used a crescendo to end the piece. The reason for using diminuendo is firstly because I didn't want the music to end too abruptly, and secondly because I was inspired by rain and raindrops, and the end of the song means that the rain has stopped, and the rain never ends abruptly, it ends slowly, just like the diminuendo of the music.
Inspiration
I made this tune based on a rainy day in Sydney. I love rainy days, whether it's heavy or light, I don't think rain is a bad thing, I want people to know how I feel about it in my heart, and it just so happens that this song wants to show how I feel when it's raining. It doesn't show sadness, it doesn't show happiness, it shows a very relaxing and comforting feeling.
Awareness
In the process of making this track, I understood how to adjust the EQ, understood the most basic music making process and gained a deeper understanding of the Garage Band. During the production process I completely ignored the music bars, that is, the fact that there are several beats within a bar, which caused me to start with a very disjointed music, then I fiddled with it for a while and solved the problem.
