Fandom: Pitch Perfect Rating: T Category: F/F Relationship: Beca Mitchell/Chloe Beale (Bechloe) Characters: Beca Mitchell, Chloe Beale Additional Tags: Hurt/Comfort, Fluff, Established Relationship, Canon Compliant, Pre-Canon, Pitch Perfect 3, Domestic Chloe Beale/Beca Mitchell
Summary:
Beca hates everything about her life in New York City. She hates her job, the apartment she lives in is falling apart, and she hates the city in general.
The one thing she didn't hate about New York... was Chloe. The one good thing that she's got.
New fic alert!! I haven't written for the Pitch Perfect fandom since 2021, which is wild.
Shout out to the regional train system for giving me time to write this fic.

Hi !
I'd love to read what you can do with number 8 :)
Have a nice Sunday
A million apologies, you sent this a couple of weeks ago 🙈
I hope this is worth the wait!
8. “I’m here for you, my love.”
Prompt taken from here.
Read on AO3
-
“I’m here for you, you know that right?”
Chloe could hear the concern in Beca’s voice. Concern that was bordering on fear.
Beca had never seen her like this before. She’d never seen Chloe anything other than bright and cheerful.
This couldn’t be more different, and it was terrifying.
Beca felt completely out of her depth, but she knew she had to do something to help. She just wished she knew what that was.
“I know,” Chloe said. “Thanks.”
It’s what everyone had kept saying to her, though she wasn’t even sure she knew what it meant anymore.
It was starting to feel like an empty platitude. Something to say to fill the silence or a way to end the conversation without feeling guilty for doing so.
Let me know if there’s anything you need.
We’re all here for you.
We’re all thinking of you.
They said it because there was nothing else to say. There were no words or actions that could lessen the pain, all you could do was sit in it.
They say the words like they’re following a script.
They’ve said their line, so the next one is yours.
They say let me know what I can do, and when you don’t reach out - because of course you don’t - then they can’t be blamed for that. They did offer, after all, it was down to you to take them up on it.
Chloe can’t exactly blame them. She’s been in their shoes before. She’s said the words, made the right faces, and sent the flowers.
Now she’s on the other side, she can’t blame them for wanting to escape the pull of her grief.
So when Beca said the words, Chloe was expecting her to go. Expecting a squeeze on the shoulder and then to be left alone.
And again, Chloe wouldn’t have blamed her for that. Everyone knew Beca wasn’t the best at expressing her emotions or coping well with other people’s feelings.
But Beca didn’t leave.
Chloe was sitting on her bed, her back against the headboard, her knees pulled into her chest, so Beca sat beside her, adjusting her position until she was comfortable. She picked up Chloe’s TV remote and channel surfed until she found a show she knew Chloe liked. When she settled on some reality show, she took hold of Chloe’s hand and squeezed it.
Again, Chloe expected her to let go because physical contact wasn’t really Beca’s thing, but she didn’t. Her hand remained where it was, and her thumb brushed back and forth across her knuckles.
“What do you want for dinner?” Beca asked after a little while.
“I’m not hungry,” was Chloe’s knee-jerk response.
“I know,” Beca said. “But you have to eat something. If you can’t think of anything you’d like I can fix you something, but if there’s anything specific you want, or that you’re craving, then I can get it for you.”
Chloe knew Beca was right, she did have to eat something, but just the thought made her feel sick.
“I really don’t want anything,” Chloe said.
Beca felt like she was walking a fine line between trying to look after Chloe and trying not to fuss too much.
It was a difficult thing to balance, and Beca felt like it wasn’t something she was equipped for.
“You don’t want to eat anything,” Beca said, preparing herself to be snapped at, “but you do need to eat something.”
“Please don’t tell me what I need,” Chloe said. Beca had been expecting anger, or at least frustration, but Chloe’s voice remained flat and empty, which was somehow much worse. “What I need is to have my Mom back.”
Chloe knew she wasn’t being fair. Beca was trying to help her, and it wasn’t her fault that there was nothing she could to help.
Chloe expected Beca to pull her hand away and leave her alone in her grief but, again, Beca surprised her.
Her grip on Chloe’s hand tightened, and she lowered the volume on the TV.
“All I want is to be able to fix this for you, but I can’t do that,” she said, her voice still calm and level. She kept her attention on the TV, because she was never very good at holding eye contact, and she needed to be able to finish what she was saying. “All I want is to be able to find the exact right words that will make this pain more bearable, but those words don’t exist. I can’t un-do what happened. I can’t bring your Mom back.”
Beca heard Chloe sniff beside her, and she squeezed her hand tighter still. “I really can’t do anything to help, I know that. All I can do is sit here, hold your hand, and wait, and help you with all the things that don’t feel very important right now. So that’s what I’m going to do.”
She turned her head and held eye-contact with Chloe. “Whatever you need from me, I’ll do it,” she said. “If you need to be alone, I can make myself busy elsewhere. If you need company, then I’ll be right here. If you need someone to yell at, or cry on, or even just to sit with you in silence, then I can be that person. I just need you to let me.”
Chloe wiped her eyes and nodded and before she was even aware it was happening, she was sobbing into Beca’s shoulder.
“I miss her so much.”
There was nothing Beca could say, so she didn’t say anything. She simply let Chloe cry, her hand rubbing up and down her back. She stayed steady and strong and waited.
Eventually Chloe’s cries quietened down, and Beca pressed her lips to the side of her head.
“I’m sorry,” Chloe said, sniffing and pulling away.
“You’ve got nothing to be sorry for,” Beca said.
“I cried all over your shirt,” Chloe said, wiping her eyes on her sleeve.
“I said I’d be whatever you needed me to be,” Beca said, “and that includes a tissue.”
Chloe laughed for the first time in days, and she felt something loosen in her chest.
“Let me go and get you an actual tissue,” Beca said, allowing herself a smile at the sound of Chloe’s laughter. “And if you aren’t going to eat anything, then at least try and drink some water.”
Beca squeezed Chloe’s hand again before she got up and made a move to leave the room.
“Bec?”
“Yeah,” Beca asked, turning around.
“Do you think… do we have stuff in for waffles?”
“You want waffles?” Beca asked, feeling something like hope stirring in her chest.
“Yeah,” Chloe said. “With syrup.”
Beca smiled. “Waffles and syrup coming right up.”
