Aj was on the couch looking a bit uncomfortable. Their white hair stood out in the crowd as scantily clad women circulated with trays of food and drugs. Rowdy men hooting and hollering as they place bets on one thing or another. Aj glares down one man who gets too close to them, baring sharp intimidating teeth. They hated crowds but Joker had ordered them to attend. They didn't have a choice.
Reese paced nervously as he listened to his phone ring —he had dialed Adeline. They were about to be touring Europe and he wanted to see her before for the season brought him over the pond. Last time he visited was a blast...but, he didn't know how he felt about Jay. The freakishly tall albino mad man...Adeline was a demigoddess or something, but this man...this man was hosting an ethereal abomination. And it made his skin crawl as images of their interaction behind closed doors came back to his minds eye. He couldn't stand Adeline being under that parasite's thumb anymore. But he had no right to command her anywhere...she was his angel.
"Hello?" He asks as the line picks up and there's a long pause.

When you arrive at Apollo there's a party going on. There were almost always parties going on. Men filled the back yard as the smell of barbecue wafted through the air. The sounds of a myriad of conversation, drinking and drug use fill the otherwise quiet street. No one notices an extra head.

The voice pauses.
"Shit. Is this her kid?"
The voice asks, the obviously fatigued person on the other side trying to figure out how to handle the situation.
"Look, ya didn't call. Ya didn't talk to me. Ya didn't hear she's busy. You decided to swing by yerself. Tomorrow."
They say quietly into the receiver.
"No promises she's be free but that's yer best chance."

"Adeline?"
The voice asks and then groans.
"She's... Indisposed at the moment. I can take a message."
They say shifting on the other of the phone.

"You called me kid. Who's this?"
The voice responds in an exasperated voice.
"Who gave you this number?"
They ask after a few more moments of awkward silence.

Trying to force some joy into her eyes Adeline sniffles a bit and looks up at him.
"Yes Darling?"
She asks placing her hand over his that rested on her cheek.
••••Slice of Afterlife••••
It was going on eleven am and Jonny still hadn't left his room, there hadn't been any breakfast or coffee ready when Ady woke up, and none of the curtains were pulled open. It was unusual for him to sleep in past seven, but very out of character to stay asleep this long. There was no sound from his room, no snoring, no wheezing, and his phone alarm he set for 10:30 to make Jay his usual breakfast was going off —again.

Jumping slightly at the sudden outburst she bites her lip and tries finding her voice again.
"I uh... I was thinking of c-cooking. Was there something specific you wanted?"
She asks again trying to hold herself together.

Adeline stood just at the doorway. Tapping lightly on the door frame she kept her eyes downcast.
"Jay..."
She calls softly.
"I... I was thinking of c-cooking... is... is there anything you'd like?"
She asks quietly.

Adeline stayed close to Jay. She felt disconnected from her reality as life continued to play on around her. Staying attached to Jay's side she wasn't her normal self. Quiet and subdued as the days wore on it was clear it would take her some time to recover.

Adeline didn't leave Jonny's side till the crew arrived. And even then Jay needed to lead her away himself before she would let the crew anywhere near Jonny's body. Shoulders slumped in defeat she clings to Jay as if he were the only thing keeping her tethered to reality. She couldn't speak. All she could manage was to squeeze his arm when she needed him closer.

Adeline's normal gasps turn into muffled cried which slowly turn into full blown sobs. Unable to control herself she just kneels at Jonny's side. She felt utterly powerless as she stroked a few stray hairs out of his face.

She shakes her head desperately.
"N-no... I can't."
She says in tears.
"Please. I can't loose you. I..."
She gasps and coughs as she's suddenly snapped back to the land of the living.

"Jonny.... I...."
She started but the sound of Apollo creaking as Jay woke interrupted her. She could hardly keep herself together. She didn't want to leave Jonny here. Not like this.

Adeline just collapsed. She could hear what Jonny was saying but her grief was surrounding her, making it hard to think here. Her soul cried for what it was loosing and that she hadn't been there to stop it.

She follows him, her own spirit feeling weighed down.
"Jonny I... I'm so sorry I was..."
She chokes up.
"If I had gotten back faster maybe..."
Her form starts to wobble.

"N-no... no Jonny... please..."
She manages to gasp dragging herself to his side.
"Please no...."
She feels his skin before trying to revive him but even as she did she knew he had been gone for hours. Trying none the less she drains herself. Falling still ontop of him as she desperately tries to wake him.

She could tell something was wrong. Steadying herself she slowly pushes on the door.
"Jonny... Jonny it's late are you ok?"
She calls as she cautiously opens the door. Her heart raced as she entered. The stillness of the room already told her enough. She could barely bring herself to look over at his bed. Seeing Jonny laying deathly still caused her heart to falter. Voice caught in her throat her knees give out underneath her. Green eyes welling as her fears are realized.
