That was actually something he was just beginning to realise near the beginning of their conversation. Hearing Ashima echo his own thoughts...
He pauses to consider his next words.
"Surprisingly, things are going quite smoothly for now." Despite those screams he swore he could hear earlier. Despite Ashima changing the topic of their conversation.
"Besides, I wouldn't be sure if I was even speaking to one. Unless I happened to call them as they were in the middle of... whatever."
“Ashima huh? That’s a pretty sounding name. Nice to m- I mean, greet you?” What was one supposed to say?
“No one gave me this particular number, actually. I dialled it by chance.”

“Hm? Oh no, no. I’m quite comfortable here. Though, I do appreciate your concern.”
He didn’t answer my question…
“I’m Lukas. And you are…?”

“Tr- well I suppose that’s one way to put it. Though, that’s not really-”
Were… were those screams he just heard in the background? Lukas’ crests twitched at the noise.
“I can’t tell if you’re currently watching something or committing some kind of crime. Hopefully it won’t be the latter or this conversation would become rather… awkward.” He laughed, or rather, he gave an unsure chuckle.

“Oh my- hello! I can’t believe- this is- Neat!”
Neat. Ha.
The distinct sound of a whap could be heard as Lukas brought a hand to his forehead.
“Ahem, pardon my outburst. I got a little bit carried away there. My name’s Lukas, technology’s quite marvellous isn’t it? For example-”
He rambles on about the wonders of telecommunication.
blake > the boy sat curled up in the corner of a little book store. it wasn’t nothing impressive, and the owner was an old lady who didn’t quite bother with him. she walked all around him, putting books into shelves while he read on. the book in his hand was a simple science fiction - just something to pass time while waiting.
waiting for what though?
waiting for someone. anyone.

@youngheartofthedark
He could contact other worlds. So why hadn’t the thought occurred to him sooner when there was literally nothing stopping him? The panel was always right there!
Silly…
Hff, might as well put it to use instead of mulling over the past. That can wait.
Lukas tapped in a random string of numbers and waited. The fabric beneath him rustled as he shifted to lay on his side. One thing that he could be somewhat grateful for regarding his situation was that he could do things like this and hold a conversation at the same time.
Not the most refined of things, but he’ll indulge in whatever little he can get.
“Hello?”

Well, that apparently worked.
Lukas held his breath in anticipation of a response, but when none came he decided to speak up. Softly.
“... Hello? Is anyone there?”
He doubted that there was someone on the other end of the call. What were the odds?

Lukas' fingers brushed across the panels hovering before him once more, idly flicking though their contents.
Uneventful- as always.
His gaze drifted to the dial pad displayed on one of them. It was pretty much pointless, seeing that there wasn't anyone that he'd be able to call.
.... I wonder...
Without further thought, he'd tapped of a series of random numbers onto the pad.
Here goes nothing, I suppose.
