hello!!! i adore your art so much, especially the egg pieces n especially ur use of colour is god tier 😭 i was wondering, how do you choose the colour of the ring around the yolk? is it affected by the colouring of the entire piece? i feel like green is an unusual colour to use for egg but somehow you make it work so well!!

i talked about that a bit here, but basically when i first started drawing fried eggs i really loved the subtle pink around the yolk! i started exaggerating it more and more until it just felt natural to add a ring of color :^]

it does depend a lot on the overall colors of the drawing, like if the background is something other than yellow or orange then i'll typically match the ring to the background color. sometimes i just go with the vibes and usually that leads me towards a green ring because i just love green and it always fits with the fried egg no matter what. at least in my mind it does. also, to add cohesion to the whole piece and stop the color choices from feeling out of place, i like to add the color of the ring to the egg white using some subtle hatching throughout.

lately i've been sticking with the classic pink

and i never turn my back on the green ring

but sometimes i'll pop in something more unusual
