I need these two to reunite asap.
I started Eye of Darkness recently and every chapter from these two has a chokehold on me. This piece was inspired by their reunion at the end of Fallen Star!

Thank you even the official sw page has started calling her “spacemom” there’s more to her than that
The post you're referring to is extra funny when it comes to Hera, because she's always either a mother or a girlboss, or she's a mother girlboss. Kudos* to Filoni for leaning into that in the Ahsoka clown show. I actually really loved the scene where she didn't know where her kid and her extremely poorly behaved droid were because she was too busy girlbossing- I mean, at least it showed that Hera has faults, even if it was poor characterization.
Special shout-out to the fans who couldn't care less about Hera or her characterization and just use her as a self-insert so they can vicariously bone Kanan.
Unfortunately, it seems that the vast majority of fandom individuals leaning into these tropes have she/her pronouns. I think it's weird as hell for women to engage in this reductive, sexist behavior, but some of y'all do it with alarming regularity. There's nothing wrong with being a mother and/or being a girlboss. It just shows an embarrassing lack of imagination to limit your alleged favorite female characters to boring "strong female character" tropes instead of giving them a full range of personality with faults and quirks.

The Firebrands (Art by @rskacreates)
Tumblr media
Because I have the Firebrands on my mind, I snagged a commission from the ultra talented @rskacreates of the Firebrands in a happy moment. Elzar laying on the ground with Stellan and Avar laughing with him. I just... it's so THEM. And Stellan's hand on Elzar's leg!!! AAAAH!!! LOVE. I also love that Elzar's in his mission robes while the others are in their temple robes. We all know how much Elzar hates his gold and whites so this was sooooo very fitting for these three.

In these trying times, I am once again asking for someone to provide me with the Avar/Elzar/Stellan content I need to keep my blood pressure down while I cope with the clownery of this Ahsoka show.
Please. I am begging.

I just realized I never posted my Rebels pictures -- (image descriptions undercut)

The tomfoolery is truly off the charts.
I just scrolled the star wars rebels hashtag on twatter and it's all people talking about how they watched Rebels finally and are "loving it".
I'm...
Tumblr media
We told them it was good years ago. They complained about the animation style, the skinny lightsabers, the characters ("Ezra is so annoying!"), the fact that it was a show for kids, and refused to watch it. But now, NOW, they're watching it, because of fucking Ahsoka. Because it's live-action.
They're watching it, as @agent-aurelie so accurately pointed out, through the lens of Ahsoka's story.
The absolute best part is that this is just the beginning of the clownery with this show. I hate it here. But, of course,

Elzar Mann
I've got some copies of The High Republic: Chronicles of the Jedi on my store. Each one has a pencil character drawing in the front page. US shipping only.
I prob redrew this one like 5 times, I kept thinking of a better pose. Luckily, the paper is very durable though I had to fixative the surface first because the paper is so smooth.

Literally wailing.
I almost threw up once, too.
Books are neat.
It's High time (ha ha get it?) I got back to shitposting about Actually Good Star Wars, a.k.a. The High Republic. I've been dragging my feet because @agent-aurelie has been wailing in my DMs about The Fallen Star, but Vernestra and Imri need me to constantly worry about their well-being, so I must return to them post haste, regardless of the misery ahead. This is especially important because I need to real-life manifest this meme in preparation for clownery of Ahsoka.

I have my period and I feel fucking ranty today. Don't read it if you're looking forward to that goddamn Ahsoka show. In fact, you might as well unfollow and, fuck it, block me. Please. We'll all be better off for it.
Saw some images of Sabine "training" with Fucking Ahsoka (I will be calling her this from now on because I'm so deeply tired of her and I loathe Dawson's take on her) on twatter earlier today and it once again propelled me into the stratosphere, where I am now floating, incandescent with fury (again) as I write this.
The problem here is multifaceted- first, it's a Filoni problem (it's always a Filoni problem). In the absence of creativity, he makes decisions that are nonsensical in the context of what's already been established. He doesn't care about this at all. I see that some of you erroneously believe he won't retcon things to serve the story he's currently telling, but he already has done this several times.
Look. I've watched/read SO MANY of this fucking guy's interviews. He says very little of actual import, and what he does say is very often stupid as fuck. Like the fact that he actually said, out fucking loud, that Anakin is the greatest Jedi of all time when there are one thousand reasons why that isn't accurate. Filoni should know better than to say something so fucking stupid. And yet.
So, anyway, back to Sabine "training" with Fucking Ahsoka. In context, it doesn't make a lot of sense. Sabine is a Mandalorian. She was raised by one of the members of Death Watch, she was a warrior from the second she was born. This is literally the context that came before, the context that's been hammered into our heads repeatedly. She already knew how to fight when she joined the Spectres, she was a fucking genius demolitions expert by the time she was 16 years old. Hera Syndulla did not idly recruit her crew based solely on - fucking christ- sPaCeMoM vibes. Sabine was a vital part of her rebel cell.
Another vital part of that rebel cell was a former Jedi padawan who called himself Kanan Jarrus- also not recruited idly by Hera based solely on horny vibes, regardless of what your fics say.
Don't you think that, if Sabine was actually Force-sensitive, Kanan might have recognized it, exactly the same way he did with Ezra? OF FUCKING COURSE HE WOULD HAVE. He might also have recognized that she needed training *IF* she needed training. You know how I know that? Because it's literally in the show. That is literally what happened when Sabine acquired the darksaber. She needed to be trained to use it, and Kanan trained her. Pretty well, too, I might add.
But now we learn that Sabine the Mandalorian genius demolitions expert needed Fucking Ahsoka to train her, because of course she did. Everyone needs Fucking Ahsoka. Sabine needs her to be able to fight, Ezra needs her to rescue him. Who knows what Hera needs her for. Also, folks, why is Fucking Ahsoka training Sabine when Jacen is right there?? I'm sure all of these issues will be explained thoroughly and well and definitely not in a way that's confusing and/or stupid.
Out of context, though, I think there's a different problem in play, and that is what I have dubbed The Vader Problem.
Ah, Darth Vader. One of the greatest villains of all time. A very specific group of Star Wars fans absolutely fucking love this fucking guy (and I highly recommend blocking on sight when you see anyone on social media with a Vader image on their profile).
Now, I'm not saying I don't enjoy Vader. I'm old enough to have seen Jedi in the theater. Star Wars is as much a part of who I am as my eye color and my ever-present concern about toilet snakes. But Star Wars has taken the Vader shit too far. Y'all get very amped about seeing Anakin/Vader, which I don't understand (although, yeah, Hayden deserves the love after all the years and vitriol he experienced) and it's sending the wrong message to Lucasfilm- namely that any project that doesn't have Vader in it in some capacity will fail.
Yeah, sure, he was Fucking Ahsoka's master. And she did need to come to terms with what he became. But, I mean, that "I am no Jedi" moment during their confrontation on Mustafar was her realizing she couldn't save him. It was her realizing she had to destroy the monster he'd become, or die trying. And yes, I know she's not technically a Jedi, but she was still walking that path, and walking that path means letting go. This constantly-backwards-looking version of her is...not great. Ahsoka was, up until a certain point when Filoni realized he didn't really know what to do with her, a very hopeful, light character. If anyone could weather the horror of finding out what Anakin had become, it was her. I don't know or understand this new, smug, kind of obnoxious up-her-own-ass version of her. I really, really don't like it.
But here's what I think. I think that Lucasfilm is always afraid, and rightfully so. Disney probably even more so, because OH NO WILL SOMEONE THINK OF THE POOR SHAREHOLDERS?? Anakin/Vader shows up in every fucking project because he's a draw for a certain type of very loud, annoying fan, and casual fans know him, too. They believe his presence will put more eyeballs on the show. Filoni likes putting Anakin/Vader in things, too. He is, at heart, one of those fans. For whatever reason, he decided that it would be "interesting" (one of his favorite words to use about his own work) if Ahsoka's issues with her master were bookended by her issues with her own apprentice. And since Sabine was destined to be her partner in the ongoing tale established in the Rebels epilogue, it all had to hang together somehow, regardless of whether it makes any fucking sense in the context of what Rebels already established about these characters. And if we can get Anakin/Vader in there somewhere, too, all the better.
It all had to mash into the mAnDOvERsE timeline somehow, too, regardless of how nonsensical all of that will likely turn out to be. I have never been less interested in a Star Wars project, and that's truly saying something considering how much I still love Rebels (excluding season 4). Filoni's attitude about his own stories is both baffling and distasteful to me. He just changes or ignores whatever doesn't work in the moment, regardless of characterization or context. This is, to me, the behavior of someone who simply lacks the creativity and/or is too lazy to take what's been established already and make it work. It's especially galling because what's already been established offers so much to work with! Why would you just toss it aside? It's lazy behavior in a storyteller. I see people writing fics and making art and strictly adhering to canon as much as possible. Why bother? The guy making this shit clearly doesn't give a fuck.
Anyway, back to the High Republic, which is written by people who care about the story and the characterization and understand how important those things are.
