DRC CAREER CONFERENCE 2015
I thought this would be a great opportunity to learn about more careers, and as luck would find it, I left the event both inspired to continue my hard work but also explore other careers in the sciences. A male-dominated field that I believe will soon be overwhelmed with the various different minds and ideas that us women posses. I kept hearing “we need more women at the table to have our their voices heard” and thats exactly what my fellow stem majors as well as myself intend to do.

I just came across this video recently it brought be back to our first plenary and my own personal thoughts on abortion. Its okay. There should be no laws concerning a female body. Others can not dictate what is wrong or right, whether or not I should bear a child. I loved when she said “having an abortion is not a sin, a sin in brining a child into a world where you can not care for it.” I stand by that 100%

DREAMWORLD 3
My problem with this video is that I didn't find it to be very captivating, unlike missrepresentation, which was both informative and extremely captivating. I find this to be concerning because the way that women are over sexualized in the media IS a big problem. Therefore in order to capture the attention of more people I think that the video should more than just a compilation of women in music videos. Perhaps interviews with music video producers, or “video vixens.” Talking to women that both feel as if they’re being dehumanized as well as those women that may feel empowered from this type of thing. I find the topic to be alarming and should be talked about more, but maybe without a monotone voiceover?

We discussed whether or not the US should get involved in providing refuge to Syrian families (after Chris Christie said he does not want the refugees in NJ). I believe we should since even though countries such as Lebanon and Jordan have refugee camps -women and children still face many difficulties.
