After much deliberation and thought, I finally realized why I love watching Kaiser so much.

Until proven otherwise by his canon backstory (yet to be revealed), Kaiser is incredibly hard on himself. He has nearly unrealistic expectations that he puts on himself (where did he learn to do that, I wonder), yet holds himself back when he does see a challenge he doesn't believe he can do. He is his own obstacle, and I don't know if he even sees that yet.

He's hard on himself to a destructive degree, as we see with his SH and volatile reactions to Isagi refusing to back down like everyone else. Isagi is a tough nut to crack, he keeps bouncing back, and Kaiser has put such a heavy meaning on using Isagi to boost himself to the point that because that isn't happening, he punishes himself. His SH is a form of release for all of that pent-up frustration and loathing he has towards himself (not necessarily Isagi, at least not entirely). This is because he, currently, is unable to follow through with a goal he set for himself. I hope this is making sense and not just me talking in circles.

As someone who chronically is hard on themself to a self-destructive degree (I'm working on it! Healing is so difficult and not linear), watching Kaiser do this is simultaneously entertaining and relatable (to an extent, of course). The way Kaiser demonstrates his frustration with Isagi not only rising up to meet Kaiser at his level, but at Kaiser's inability to make Isagi grovel at his feet and recognize that Kaiser is better than him at soccer, shows us that Kaiser has an unhealthy attachment to soccer and an unhealthy sense of self and self-worth.

I don't think it's quite to the degree that without soccer, Kaiser is nothing. I wouldn't put it past Kaneshiro to write him that way, though. Or, at least, no one is saying that Kaiser is nothing without soccer but Kaiser himself. He and his own ego are ultimately what is destructive to himself; these compounded with current events and past baggage are what make Kaiser's downfall even more fascinating to me.

Thanks for coming to my Kaiser seminar--I love him so much, and I know I'm mostly mean to him, but I do hope that he continues to be important to the Blue Lock boys (I also hope he keeps his place in the U-20 league), even if he continues to be a shitty rival. I hope he outgrows Ness, too, or vice versa, because their friendship is also unhealthy (but could be mended with proper communication and understanding of one another)! In an ideal setting, I do agree with the in-universe commentary in that Kaiser and Isagi would be a killer striker duo. We all know that won't happen any time soon, or ever, but if it ever DID happen??? I'd eat that up so fast.
