This is kind of a long post, but trying to get the word out for @share.farm The company @vince.peak and myself co-founded, Share Farm has been accepted into @techstars We are the first company from Spokane to be included in their program. Techstars is an accelerator program with a worldwide network for early-stage entrepreneurs. What Share Farm is doing is aggregating, minority owned small farms and producers products so that large institutions and/or retail based broadliners can purchase those products. The issue is that small farms do not have enough product to normally sell to a large institutional buyer. They may also not have correct food safety standarizations or product specifications to be able to do this. We help break down those barriers by teaching food safety, by aggregating similar products from other producers with product specifications so that we create scale large enough for those buyers. We can also extend out the small farms traditional marketplace by offering to buy products outside of their normal marketplace window. Our idea is to help farmers make more money off the land they are already growing on and to hopefully help them be much more profitable year after year. There is a big demand to get local products from minority farmers and producers to restaurants and grocery stores and we are helping to be the platform to get those products there at scale. Our first big customers (Cargill and UNFI) have signed on and are ready to launch, so we are trying to get the word out there to any minority owned, women owned, veteran owned, POC owned farms and producers so we can help them sell their products. Cargill and UNFI have agreed to procure across the nation at volume from minority producers through our custom software solution. We have also partnered with many minority agricultural organizations and plan to begin transactions as early as April 2023 in the PNW and Southeast states.
