I think it’s interesting that Ant doesn’t continue with Harper bc she’s not in the right headspace and brings up how you need to take in the whole context not just what people are saying for proper consent. It’s interesting bc that’s not what happened with Malakai and his situation

The bit where everyone takes Quinni to the zoo is so well done. Right from the start of that but we see how uncomfortable Quinni is, and see why she’s hurting before she says anything. Ca$h notices when her best friend doesn’t seem to.

But yeah, when they invite her to the zoo, she doesn’t seem to want to be there, at no point do they ask what she wants, they just assume she’ll appreciate it even though we know she hates plan changes. As an autistic person, I imagine she’s similar to me with things being sprung on her, so it would make sense that she’s already stressed out. Having someone else make plans for me and then do a surprise thing for my birthday would honestly freak me out no matter how well intentioned.

The whole way around it becomes obvious that they’re doing this to try and make themselves feel better, not Quinni. They say they’re going for her, but they immediately leave her behind at the entrance, running off and chatting. With every exhibit they visit, she’s always the last one to leave which represents very concisely her fear of being left behind.

She even asks at one point what she’s missed and she’s brushed off by Darren, the one person who has always been understanding. It’s not done maliciously but it’s dismissive at best.

She then later expresses her fear of being left, explaining that she hates change and feels that no one is giving her a chance to keep up, and the whole zoo trip represents that so well. It makes sense that no one sees how stressed she is because they’re all so excited about the next thing they just don’t see her.

Miss thing has done literally nothing other than parallel One / Alice Creel / young Henward, be present for and distinctly notice the supernatural, be present around conversations about Vecna and be mentioned in Nancy's vision. Like that's her function atm. Also a new kid-goes-missing giving the keys to solving Will's vanishing and tying everything together. Now that's some hot scalding cunt to be served

i can't express enough how much i love missy and malakai, their friendship and how they just get each other on such a deep level. how their aboriginality is expressed in how they dress and decorate their spaces (malakai often wears mob-owned brands, missy has an "always was always will be" sticker on her car and her hair tie during the footy game is black, red and yellow). how cheeky and playful they are with each other. how apparent it is when they're in scenes by themselves that they code-switch when talking to their non-aboriginal friends.

one thing i need to start living by is “become the thing that you want” if i want friends who throw themed parties maybe i should start throwing those parties. if i want someone who writes me love letters maybe i should start writing letters for the people i love. if i want to hang out at museums and pretty cafes maybe i should invite my friends to these places. and maybe even then i won’t find the kind of people i want to be around. but then i would have become the exact person i want to be around. and maybe that’s good enough.

i love how amerie didn't even hesitate to yeet the fetus, there was no "omg should we keep it" palaver like in other teen dramas, malakai and harper didn't shame her for her decision (unlike some people, *cough* emma and craig when manny had her abortion on degrassi *cough*), there was no angst or regret afterwards (i mean yeah it wasn't the most pleasant procedure for her to have to go through but her being emotional about it had more to do with it being a physically unpleasant thing to have to go through and not because she suddenly changed her mind or whatever).
