Over the summer I decided I wanted to attempt to make a muppet style puppet. It’s something that I’ve always wanted to try and when I was joking with a friend that Richard Armitage’s Thorin Okenshield would make a good muppet, things just sort of came together. In between working on my stop motion thesis film at school this year, I’ve put in some time here and there to finish this! And so I present: Thorin Puppetshield!  And a big thanks to Craig for helping me out with photos! We also took this short video of it in action!

I know how the Merlin fandom makes jokes about George, like how Merlin doesn’t like him, and he doesn’t like Merlin, especially how they dressed him to look like Merlin but picture this:

George dressed like that because because he actually likes Merlin. He thinks Merlin is an Icon. He saw Merlin talk shit about Arthur and was like “I’m going to worship this man until I die”

I just think it would be funny in fics if he and Merlin were friends. George straight up lying to Arthur, covering for Merlin when he need to do magic things.

Arthur: “MER LIN — George have you seen my manservant anywhere”

*cue explosion in the background”

George, who help Merlin sneak out: who is Merlin, never heard of a Merlin

Fix it for The Hobbit : Battle of The Five Armies

Thorin: I am Turing you greedily man away and ignoring you in your time of need

Bilbo: Who are you, Thranduil???

Thorin, going through the five stages of grief, the shock of being compared to Thranduil immediately kicking the goldsickness out of his body: I have changed my mind

After Merlin's magic is revealed he's made the court sorcerer and as such has to sit in on court meetings. He freely gives his opinion on topics that come up and is more than willing to shoot down propositions others make while pointing out all the flaws in their plans. The nobles do not like this. Nobleman: Your promotion has clearly caused you to think far too highly of yourself that you dare speak in such a manner to those born above you Arthur: No he came like that. His disregard for authority is one of the reasons I keep him around. Keeps me, and now you all, honest. Merlin: That, and Arthur thinks it's hot.

It's fun to think of the Company as big bagginshield shippers from the start, doing little bets about it and all that, but I think it would be funnier if they were completely flabbergasted by them getting together

Bilbo: Oh, I will.

Thorin: I was going to say 'or' but I can see there's no point.
