Princes & Snapes headcanons

I’ve been thinking a lot about Princes & Snapes’ families and came up with some headcanons (which at this point form a whole AU, I think), and I need to write them down before it all disappears from my head or eats me alive:

Princes weren’t purebloods, but many people around them thought differently because of their specific dark aesthetics and views on magic (and honestly, the name itself worked for this common misconception);

they were a wandering family, but not at all lost: always on the road, always looking for something, discovering and learning new things and getting money by taking tasks others wouldn’t;

they took their home with them: carriage, truck, boat — it could look like anything that moves and changed it external appearance according to changing times but it was always the same on the inside: old, full of dust, overrun with trinkets, books and what not; the family ironically called it The Palace, because how could Princes be without one;

their enourmous experience taught them that magic can’t be divided on Dark and Light one, just that you always need to know what you do, why and are you ready for the risk and consequences you bring on yourself and others;

they always valued brain over muscles and always thought highly of muggle technologies, calling them “their own kind of magic” and tried to understand whatever they could in it;

they taught their children at home, except in the situations when it wasn’t possible for them to give a child proper education, so occasionally Princes appeared in different wizarding schools, but not always under the name of their family because they had their fair share of enemies;

their life was quite risky, and many of them died by Eileen’s birth so she was one of the children who had to go to the wizarding school and Hogwarts was the closest one;

she joined Slytherin not because of blood purity views, but because she fit general ideas and openness to different kinds of magic;

social interactions weren’t her strongest skill, so she found a way to make friends with classmates by joining the Gobstone Club which she actually quite enjoyed although weird detachment on her face often alienated others;

And some more about the Snapes:

Eileen truly fell in love with Tobias, he was a working class person who was ambitious, smart and full of hope for the future, he was a person who didn’t want to fit into the box the society gave him, and, well, it all seemed like such a good idea when her own family wasn’t a standard one too;

but she didn’t tell him about magic, thinking, that there will be right time in the future, and time always seemed not right;

years passed, they had a child, last Princes tragically died without leaving much for her and the more problems there were around the more less comfortable she felt about talking to him about it;

when you don’t choose time, time chooses itself: Tobias learned his wife’s secret by becoming a witness to his own son’s accidental magic when he had enough problems of his own to hear constant creaking of his own dreams that were shuttering around him;

after this their home became more of a house in a painfully prosaic way, and young Severus Snape has never known another;

Eileen still naturally passed her own views on magic to her child, but with time she had less and less energy and life in her to support and guide him, because of which Severus started looking for his own answers, and, unfortunately, they weren’t the best he could find in the end.

Calling all Severus Snape fans. Allow me to pitch a headcanon or two... or more.

When sev started becoming the master of potions. He secretly sold his potions to every house except Gryffindor (for obvious reasons) and even tutored for a few gallions.

He would also brew whole packages full of potions for st.mungos that needed specific types of potions for a reasonable price and trade. (The idea was brought up by both McGonagall and Pomfrey)

When he was a child, he got a guitar from his father, which was the one and only decent thing he gave severus.

Severus taught himself how to play it and would mostly play for himself and his mom. But during his 4th or 5th year and the money was really low, he started playing on the streets and then started playing in bars for extra money (He's a good singer, and you can't tell me otherwise) and he was known as the Siren of Spinners End.

If he was a quidditch player, I have no doubt he would've created game plans so good, Slytherin would be victorious for a long time.

The only other people he gives private concerts to are Charity, Aurora, his mother Eileen, Lucius, and Narcissa (Draco included).

His animagus would have either been a raven or bat (my best bet would've been raven)

His patronus (if it wasn't a doe) would most likely be a bat.

He loves gardening, and if he had his own flat, he would have his own little plants (TELL ME I'M WRONG)

Severus is always exactly 7 minutes late to all staff meetings. Yes, it is on purpose. Yes, every single one of the other Professors have tried to end the annoying habit. Nothing has worked.

Dumbledore has received so many complaints from parents that if he reads "Snape" he automatically sends in the OWL and NEWT test improvements in Potions.

His first year was a rough start, but by Severus's testing averages went from Slughorn's A-E on the lower side average to high E's and O's. The Dreadful fail rate also dropped to two or three students a year.

Severus has asked to be fired no less than 200 times. It hasn't worked.

At potluck events, it's a competition to see who makes the dish that Professor Snape will eat/eat the most of as they get better every year. Professor Sprout is the reigning champion. And Severus will only ever bring napkins from coffee shops.

He has never mixed up any of the Weasley -- even the twins -- ever. It drives Fred and George insane.

He has a coffee pot in the classroom and will fight anyone who tries to take it away from him. Umbrige learned that lesson the hard way.

lookism characters as mythological gods 👀 who would be who

OH SHEEEEEESH, I LOVE MYTHOLOGICAL GODS. ESP GREEK & ROMAN GODS ✨ AYO, YOU A REAL ONE FOR ASKING THIS QUESTION, TY JANN! 💜 I hope you don’t mind this analysis… 😅 (Took a long time to write because there was a lot of research LMAO, I'M SORRY THIS TOOK ME FOREVER TO ANSWER. 🙏🏽) BUT NOW, I CAN PROUDLY POST THIS. 🫡 💖

While matching each god to a Lookism character, I found this very fun because there are so many mythological gods and goddesses that can be associated with any of them. Especially when it comes to their appearances, symbols, and folklore. The depictions of these gods all tie to each of these selected Lookism characters:

Gun and Goo || Fujin & Raijin (Shintoism)

First, let’s start off with Gun. There are many reasons why I see Gun as the Shinto god, Fujin, and here’s why:

Fujin [風神] is known to be the Shinto kami (god) of the wind. A deity that controls the winds of the Earth through his bag of air.

Due to his control of strong wind currents, he is connected to storms, especially powerful typhoons, that would cause the destruction of many trees and and homes. However, Fujin leaves most of the job to Raijin.

According to a Japanese legend from the 13th century, he managed to save Japan by sending storms to Mongol invaders who were trying to conquer Japan. Fujin’s winds were so ruthless, that the Mongol’s fleets were all destroyed in one storm.

Fujin and Gun are both forces to be reckoned with. Fujin’s destructive actions are similar to Gun’s, in which they both initiate both ruin and devastation. Since Fujin had wiped out over a thousand people for centuries, then it wouldn’t be a surprise if Gun’s future would eventually lead to the downfall of many more lives. This man had dealt with so many enemies (100+) all the way up to his current lifetime of about 20 years, that it wouldn’t even be a surprise if he so happens to murder even more people later on.

Also, since Fujin is associated with the use of harsh winds intermingled with water due to typhoons and storms, they are involved in a shared element. The nature element, water, represents them both in some way. Both Fujin and Gun are present whenever it rains. On days when there’s rain, Fujin’s winds are harsh during storms. Whereas, in Gun’s case, he is always present on days when the weather is rainy and gloomy. However, for Gun, he just appears when there’s rain to pass along the message of “the end” for people, especially when it comes to a person not being able to hold their position as Gun’s future successor. You could say, that the both of them also symbolize the presence of melancholy, since they both bring nothing but misfortune upon people during unpleasant weather. They play as the instigators of the end to peacefulness.

Fujin has an appearance of a true Oni, due to his mother Izanami giving birth to him when she reached the underworld. According to Gun’s background when he was still in Japan, many knew him as “Shiro Oni”. In the webtoon, the translation for his name was “White Ghost”. However, the word “Oni” actually meant ogre or demon in Japanese folklore. Of course, it wouldn’t be a surprise that many native Japanese residents would call him a demon due to his infamous yet terrifying background of nothing but merciless violence.

Not only was Fujin’s face alike from Gun’s, but also their attire. Apparently, Fujin usually wears leopard skin. And who else wore something leopard related? Gun Park. That leopard patterned long sleeved shirt really does say something about his fashion. He definitely must be Fujin, but in human form. Both of them really do share the same fashion sense. 💀

In addition to his face and attire, but Fujin only has four fingers on each hand. These four fingers represent the North, South, East, and West. In a way, this association of Gun as Fujin can be symbolic as well. Gun’s affiliation with the Four Major Crews can be shown through Fujin’s fingers since Gun, who had contributed to the establishment of these Four Major Crews, identified the strongest crews in South Korea. Each crew either coming from the North, South, East, and West of the Han River, which splits their territories into four different parts of South Korea.

Gun has the same personality trait as Fujin as well. Fujin is described to be the brother who is less spontaneous in personality, compared to Raijin. He is also unenthusiastic whenever he is met with some sort of issue that he has to deal with and he is more “laidback”, not taking things too seriously against enemies. This is probably due to how aware he is of his own powerful strength. The same goes with Gun. His personality when dealing with those who are against him is also like this as well, with a hint of arrogance, knowing that he can defeat anybody on his own.

Now, let’s talk about Goo as Raijin:

Raijin [雷神] is the Shinto kami of thunder, lightning, and storms. Often times, he’s seen alongside his brother, Fujin. They both mostly appear together as a pair, like Gun and Goo whenever they show up in certain scenes. (However, the only difference compared to Fujin and Raijin is that Gun and Goo aren’t brothers.)

To clarify, Raijin is responsible for the creations of storms, not Fujin. Fujin is only responsible for strong wind currents, so he leaves the work of thunder clouds and lightning to his brother, Raijin.

Raijin’s personality is one of the distinctive factors that many people use to distinguish between Raijin and Fujin. Similarly, with Gun and Goo too. The difference in personalities in each pair are quite the same indeed. Just like Raijin’s personality, Goo’s is very chaotic and he can be mischievous with trickery. Even though Raijin is known as a trickster, he either does good or bad. He produces good in the form of rainfall for crops or he creates storms that destroys both the living and non-living.

Just like Goo, he’s a character that brings good and bad in his own way. In a unique way, he gives people opportunities to help fulfill their own ambitions, by becoming one of his “secret friends”. For example, Goo used to beat up bullies to earn money. In a way, he somehow benefited others, such as that one event when Goo saved his cousin, Vasco, and Jace from school bullies. His encounter with Vasco had led Vasco to become stronger than he was before. In addition to these “good” occurrences, Goo offered Samuel Seo a new chance of power after being rejected by Gun, in which Samuel took him on his offer then became one of Goo’s so called “secret friends”. Another instance of this is when Goo recruited Logan Lee as another one of his “secret friends” too. Logan wanted to get stronger since his goal is to get back at the original Daniel Park, so this event was like Goo opening up a new beneficial start for Logan.

Although this was the case for some people, Goo also managed to cause distruction wherever he goes. Returning to the subject of the bullies, he did beat them up pretty badly. He even found it amusing to see them suffer. With almost every person that he had fought against, he had this maniacal enjoyment that he found in defeating others. It was as if he had fun beating up others just for the sake of his own amusement. Along with his chaotic mind, he took his destructiveness with him, just like Raijin. According to that one chapter when Sinu got a phone call from one of his old friends, his friend mentioned through the phone that he should be careful of someone named “Joon Goo” who had completely wiped out their whole entire crew. Which quickly indicated and foreshadowed, that Goo would eventually cause trouble for Big Deal.

Sinu Han || Heracles/Hercules (Greco-Roman Mythology)

There are some reasons why I believe that Sinu Han should be Heracles:

Even though Heracles was known as a demi-god (only a mortal), he became the god of heroes and the divine protector of mankind when he died. (This is completely unrelated to Sinu in comparison, but just wanted to address that Heracles isn’t a god when he completed his heroic deeds.)

As a defender for all, Heracles acts like a public servant. Throughout most of his lifetime, he protects civilians who are in dire need of help. Just like Heracles, Sinu Han’s mindset is similar. For about 10 years, he protected a street in Gangseo, in which he had dedicated himself to serve as the defender for the women who loved that street. It was his home. Even Heracles loved Greece and had thrown himself into dangerous situations just to defend his home.

Heracles rescued so many beings in need. A special being that he rescued was Prometheus. No matter how bad he may be as a titan to the gods, he was willing to set Prometheus free due to how he had helped humanity for giving them fire. Sinu Han's character is similar to Heracles since he is the type of person to set someone free, regardless if they have done something bad in the past. What matters is how good of a person's character is, and how they contribute to serving others. I can see Sinu letting someone go if they changed for the better, and by giving them another chance to redeem themself. For instance, even though this hasn't been directly approved by Sinu (but by Jake), Lineman used to be a character who caused trouble and lied to others, thinking that he was a big-shot. However, he changed by being accepted by Jake Kim into Big Deal and if Jake approves of these people who he have gained as his friends (or followers), then Sinu approved of them for being good people and they eventually became members of Big Deal. (Hence, believing in Jake's jurisdiction in finding good in others.)

Although he may be a well-known mythological hero, many do not know how much he had suffered. There was a time when Heracles was enslaved, and he was bought by the Lydian Queen Omphale. She made him do many things as a slave, such as forcing him to wear women's clothing (to humiliate him) and spun wool to help her and her maidens. Omphale did fall in love with Heracles, but eventually she set him free (and they got married). Alike from Sinu Han's situation, Mitsuki Soma was head over heels for Sinu, that she wanted him for herself. Treated like a slave, Sinu had to endure hardships of being her "lover". Manipulated and controlled by Mitsuki due to a mystery drug that made him forget his memories, Mitsuki made him stick by her side, in which she made him shower together. Sinu's identity and memories were twisted by her, which gave Mitsuki the power to successfully manipulate him for a long time (until Jake Kim had to rescue Sinu from The Workers).

Jake Kim || Balder (Norse Mythology)

This is why Jake Kim can be seen as Balder:

Balder is known to be not just the Norse god of light, joy, and summer. Jake Kim usually brought light and joy to people's lives, especially during his middle school days when he'd start getting himself involved with Big Deal. He had made a lot of friends and allies along the way, which would influence (I'll ignore Balder's death, and will be focusing more on his personal aspects, features, and his background that are similar to Jake's.)

Like Balder, Jake Kim shares handsome features and is a very attractive man. He has a bright smile just like Balder, and he has fair hair. In Norse mythology, it was said that Balder was so noble and handsome, that light shines down on his body in which flowers would bow down before him as he passes by.

Also he is the representation for the themes of justice, beauty, hope, and sacrifice. During the Jake Kim Arc, he sacrificed himself, especially for Big Deal who sought for the rescue of Big Deal's Former No. 1, Sinu Han.

(Side Note: I didn't want to associate Jake Kim with Eros because even though he's good-looking and is strongly related to the idea of "love" and "Romanticism", Eros is usually described as mischievous and unsympathetic due to him shooting arrows at people regardless of how they think/feel. It is the complete opposite to Jake's personality, in which he is considerate and kind towards others.)

Samuel Seo || Mercury (Roman Mythology)

Let me explain why I see Samuel as Hermes:

Mercury is well-known for being the messenger god AND the god of commerce. Alike from Samuel, Samuel specializes in business-related work and he manages finances really well. At one point, he was very close with Eugene and Samuel acted like a messenger to Eugene, since he reports to him about what goes on in the affiliates when Samuel used to be president for some of the affiliates.

Mercury had a dependent role in managing the gods. Just like Mercury, Samuel as well. He was close with the higher-ups of the Workers (especially Eugene) in which he was positioned by him to manage the 3rd and 4th affiliate of Workers. Both of their roles is to keep the gods or Workers

Even though Mercury’s role might seem “helpful” at first, do not be fooled by Hermes’s appearance, because he isn’t who he seems to be. Just like Samuel when he was first introduced in the Lookism series, we didn’t quite expect him to turn out the way that we know him now.

Mercury favors the ambitious, so he supports those who are willing to reach their goals, no matter how wicked they are. Going off by his “work smarter, not harder" ideology, Samuel is quite the ambitious man. He’s willing to reach higher things, in order to accomplish his dream as someone who’s powerful. Or, as he likes to refer to himself someday as a “King”. (As mentioned to Jake.)

As a god who defends tricksters and thieves, Hermes likes toying with others. He even favors cleverness and amusement. During the Workers (3 Affiliates) Arc, Samuel's behavior is shown as one who likes toying with others, initiating the start to Johan's rage when he found out that the Workers' Third Affiliate used to sell drugs to Pungsan, which was the God Dog cult that was ran by the former church pastor.

James Lee || Shiva “The Destroyer” (Hindu Mythology)

Here is why I believe James Lee should be Shiva:

Shiva is mainly known as "The Destroyer" and "The Creator" of worlds, in Hindu mythology. He even represents time as well. James Lee was known to be the man who ended the First Generation by defeating all of the First Generation Kings, which fits his character of being "The Destroyer". Consequently, causing the spark of a new generation, which is the emergence of the Second Generation. In this case, being "The Creator" does suit him because he is literally the catalyst to a new generation of fighters. You can also say, that he manipulates time if he were to be Shiva in this context.

Shiva also represents goodness, benevolence, and is said to be "The Protector". In a way, James Lee shows signs of "good" nature and benevolence, in which he acts as a guide to Daniel Park, in finding the secret to his two bodies. And even though James Lee isn't known as "The Protector", he did protect Charles Choi in the past. By aiding him as the company's head for an entertainment agency, he protected Charles' business by supporting him through this method.

This Hindu god is also named the "Lord of the Dance" or Nataraja, according to a Hindu artwork called, "Shiva Nataraja". From the statue, it depicts Shiva dancing in a halo of fire (which represents time), and Shiva stepping on a dwarf with one foot (which is a creature that represents illusion, who leads men astray from the actual truth). Metaphorically, this relates to James Lee because James Lee had the urge to find out the truth about the secret of the two bodies, and is willing to do anything to achieve his goal. Even if it meant betraying Charles Choi, by allying himself with The Workers, specifically Eugene.

Canonically confirming from the Webtoon, it is known that James Lee has a huge penis. Well, so does Shiva. In Hinduism, Shiva is associated with lingas, or phallic symbols, which represents fertility. 🍆

lookism inherently being a tragedy is so dear to me.

the existence of good people who will do good unconditionally (sinu, seongji, daniel's mom, vin's mom) wasn't enough to offset the evil that had corroded their surroundings, their kindness didn't save anyone they wished to protect not because it wasn't enough but because they were doomed from the beginning to fail, and thus fuel their beloveds' rise to infallibility.

sinu choosing to help johan only for johan to lose everything eventually. jake choosing to spare olly the torment of living like a thug only for olly to perish more painfully. eli choosing to leave hostel only to end up becoming like the very man he despised, upon his return. seongji rejecting james' proposal to become a part of charles' grand design because he never wanted his kids and those of others to be brought to harm only for vin to end up becoming a murderer. gun choosing loyalty over his closest friendship only to embark on the path of complete, irreversible annihilation and being the only one who survives as everything he holds dear turns to stone...

the tragedy occurs because the person making the choice has been doomed from the very start. it matters not how much they loved because their love was never meant to endure.

every choice they made is irrevocably wrong but ultimately made out of love. these are unfixable mistakes but they happened only because someone cared too much.

Lookism Ending

When the mystery of the two bodies end and Charles Choi is finally defeated, I want lookism to go back to the old lookism era where everyone is being silly and doing dumb shits (like Jacedaichi arc or Seonong goes to Seoul arc) and finally pursuing a career as they'll be an adult.

Yenna will be in kindergarten! maybe Zack will gain enough courage to ask Mira out and he'll become the official best boxer of the world, honestly I want to see them getting married (⁠ ⁠ꈍ⁠ᴗ⁠ꈍ⁠), Zoe will probably ask Daniel out too (⁠ ⁠╹⁠▽⁠╹⁠ ⁠),Jay won't feel lonely anymore , all of his businesses will be successful(⁠ ⁠´⁠◡⁠‿⁠ゝ⁠◡⁠`⁠), Vin wouldn't be scared to walk outside without his sunglasses and only wear them when it's a sunny day or two avoid unnecessary attraction, I hope he becomes a better person- and will apologise to Duke for what he did. Maybe he'll actually focus on improving his rap lyrics and will eventually become a famous rapper :⁠,⁠-⁠). But will still get his ass beaten by Mary for being rude sometimes. Mary supremacy forever ᕙ⁠(⁠＠⁠°⁠▽⁠°⁠＠⁠)⁠ᕗ. And when he'll retire from the industry, he'd go back to cheongliang and teach Ssireum or maybe he wouldn't become a rapper at all - and would go back to cheongliang right after graduation. Mary would probably go back to Cheongliang after graduation to teach judo and compete in Olympics and win <⁠(⁠￣⁠︶⁠￣⁠)⁠>. Excited to see how Leonn and Vasco ship will sail . BNC will be doing what they're doing but I think Jace will become a private investigator . Samuel grew up in the slums of Seoul with a clearly depressed, unable to work, abusive mother who threaten him to kill him if he talked about his father. She was also belittling him, by saying he was worthless and didn’t care about him. As he was fatherless, the other kids bullied him.

His only coping mechanism was to find his father and thought he was Gapryong’s son. No one can blame him to believe it since his mother wouldn’t tell him anything.

So he worked his ass to be worth of Gapryong’s respect and started a gang only bc Gapryong was a gangster.

So why so violent ? Children who live in this kind of environment, also known as emotional neglected children, tend to have more aggressive behaviour, unstable emotion, low self-esteem and no intimacy with other people.

Meeting his father

During the speech of Gapryong Kim, Samuel heard him saying that he made him remember his son and the woman he left behind. So everything was made for him to believe that he could be, indeed, Gapryong’s son and for the first time, he was looking happy.

However, when he came back home. He met his real father who were just a piece of trash. His father left for another woman before Samuel’s birth, never really cared about them until the day his lover dumped him, and so he came back like a flower saying how much he missed Samuel when he never took any news of them, when, apparently knew where they lived. So no wonder why he snapped when he had an unavailable mother who never protected him and a legitimate father who never cared about them. (Don’t try to strangle your father, you don’t deserve prison for that kind of human trash).

But why wasn’t him mad at Gapryong? Because he thought he was a bastard child and adultery is still forbidden in Korea (from my source)

After that, he was probably homeless for a time, until he started to live with his possible GF (the girl in the bed in jake Kim arc -2).

Did he killed his father?

While it is heavily implied, I personally don’t think so.

In a realistic point of view, you have to strangle someone during 3-6+ minutes to kill him definitely.

We saw Samuel attacking his father aiming directly to the neck, but his mother was very quick to intervene by smashing his head with the AC toolbox.

The day after, he was wandering around the streets, naked, holding the tool box with only his feet being dirty, probably from walking. I think the blood comes from him: it is dripping at the same spot his mother smashed him.

His father was working, so if he died, someone would have notice his disappearance, called the police and Samuel would probably have been arrested. I mean it he wasn’t very discrete after the supposed murder, holding a potential weapon of crime, naked in the street with witnesses.

As we can think he just took care of the body, he clearly wasn’t in a state of mind where he could think rationally and scrupulously able to erase all of the evidences.

As it wasn’t confirmed or refuted, it is the choice of the reader to believe it or not.

Big Deal pre Gun and Goo

When he joined Big deal, he was pretty harsh with everybody, but there is an interesting moment : when he met Johan. People will say he is an asshole to not let him join big deal. But in a pragmatic way, BD wouldn’t be able to have another member due to financial issues. HOWEVER he gave Johan some advices to survive:

- To not cry in front of people otherwise they could just take advantage of him. Looking weak when you are homeless can lead you to more abuses ( see like what and So funny in hostel arc).

- told him to snatch shoes and selling them, which Johan did, and thanks to this advice that Johan followed, Gun heard of him, leading him to be the crew head of God Dog.

He also considered Jake as his friend, so Samuel asked him to go to Gangnam with him because he wanted to leave Big Deal. (Very important) Unfortunately it is also at this moment he learns that Jake is Gapryong’s son, reminding him his family past trauma and his overwhelming jealousy.

Big Deal after Gun & Goo

He saved Big Deal. He literally saved Big Deal from being annihilated. He was the one who outsmarted Gun & Goo and earn the fee. And he was planning to leave Big Deal to go to Gangnam. In this situation, he was the one who were supposed to leave.

(Samuel wanted to leave so much he took time to save Big Deal even if considered BDeal wasn’t good enough for him and his men)

But remember what Jake did? He left Big Deal, he just showed up wanting to fight Gun and Goo. But didn’t try to help more or to find a realistic solution after that. Even Jerry, Brad and Jason stayed to help the girls.

When Samuel became the head of Big Deal, he had to take the responsibility to earn the money for Gun and Goo: otherwise Big deal = annihilated. He was harsh, I can’t say the contrary. Ones would say he tried to hit a woman. No : he would hit everyone who mentions the name « Jake ». (Remember that poor man a chapter before?). He didn’t make the best decisions but at least he did what he could to earn the fees. I don’t condone wanting him to starve the girls.

Jake vs Samuel

When we know the real story about Samuel past. And remember that Sinu manipulated Jake to get rid of Samuel.

They would never understand each other, of course.

He is the contrary of Samuel, who had to work hard for everything to happen to him.

Jake grew up in a rich environment, had everything he needed except for a present father. He had friends, people he could count on and respected him, family, food, nice clothes. Everything that Samuel didn’t have. Ironically, Jake ran away from his house, leaving his mother in the same way his father did. Samuel? According to the girls, he was still taking care of his mother, even after what happened with his father.

Moreover, he is always compared to Jake, what makes him feel even worse about himself.

Gangseo union & gun

We know that Samuel need to be acknowledged so he can feel worthy. (Refer to Childhood part). Gun gave him a second chance to prove himself. Samuel being a social idiot and a perfectionist, decided it was a good idea to beat up his own people. (Which is dumb). Leading Gun to tell him he don’t acknowledge him without telling him why, which leave him in confusion. JUST TALK TO HIM. (Btw Gun, you are a huge hypocrite since you did exactly the same when you killed Kenta’s family, who were one of your affiliate.)

So he ended up being abandoned for the 3rd time when gangseo left, and being more and more depressed and feeling like shit.

When we look at what happened to Eli - who grew up in a similar abusive family- he had the chance to meet the hostel who could understand his situation as a familyless, abandoned children and that his violent behaviour was logical due to his lack of education. Still, they taught him basic human relationships, how to read, to not commit crimes anymore and deeply care about him despite when everything went wrong. With Yenna, he had to become a better person so he could take of her properly and giving her the best he could. He has something to care for. Even Warren stays by his side when apparently the 5th affiliate is going to do something horrible and Eli was WAY MORE VIOLENT than Samuel. Eli is what happens when abused children find comfort with a benevolent surroundings, Samuel is what happen when someone is left with their trauma and don’t find anyone to rely on.

4th affiliate

Do you really think he is the one who came up with the idea of locking streamers? I don’t think so, he was very depressed and at his lowest after what happened with Gun and the Gangseo Union. He had absolutely no hope, didn’t talk, had nothing to live for at the point that he let Alexander BULLY HIM. ALEXANDER. Like Samuel isn’t able to kick his ass if he wants to.

(4th rejection, his only friend started to abuse him, and no, seeing Samuel getting more and more depressed and the shadows of himself is not an excuse, it is even worse ok. And so yeah, try to trust people after that, it is kind of hard).

Moreover, his plan was to take down the hideout of the 4th affiliate to begin with. When Lil Daniel asked for more informations in the contract, Samuel entered the secret room where he said loud enough to lil Daniel to heard that “he might have found our darkest secret” and then managed to go to the bathroom right after Daniel told him he was interested in it, and checking if Daniel is in the room when he came back. Someone who wants to protect a secret won’t leave. That’s why he asked Like What, So Funny, Lil Daniel if they wanted to have an appartement studio when he was already suspicious that lil Daniel when into his secret room.

He knew that lil Daniel was searching for the place where were hidden the streamers by ordering chicken. And, even with that, he let big Daniel go home after he hit him and told him he knew where the streamers were locked, when he could just have called the police and no more problems for the 4th affiliate. He purposely say to lil Daniel that Like what and so funny where going to be forced to do a showing stream, would make obviously lil Daniel angry and wanting him more to destroy One MCM (when the others streamers were forced to do mukbang or dance).

And when big Daniel appeared in the president room with the unfair contracts, Alexander clearly stated that he didn’t hide them in the secret room’s safe. That means that Samuel purposely hide them in the secret room that lil Daniel was curious about. Making it easier for Daniel to find them. And boy, Samuel looked way too satisfied when he found out that the 4th affiliate was dismissed. And didn’t even try to save it and fight back when Tom Lee appeared.

Alexander was the one who supervised the streamers and were checking on them disguised as Mister Gold. He is the one who send them back to their stream and punched lil Daniel so he won’t talk. Not Samuel. Alexander was the president, Samuel was just an executive.

Btw, it is clearly said that, thanks to Daniel, he could fast track his plan. Why do you think he thanked Daniel at the end? Because Daniel took down the 4th affiliate.

So basically : Samuel became president, get rid of Alexander and helped Daniel destroying the hideout.

3rd affiliate

Well, thanks to Samuel, Johan knows who sold the drugs to the pugsan cult. You know, the infos that Xiaolung was supposed to give him ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And this move helped to save Jake and Samuel’s life from UI Daniel.

He was also called a traitor who betrayed his master, according to Xiaolung. As I didn’t think about it before, I realised he was talking about Alexander. Well, he did betrayed Alexander, but who wouldn’t leave after a so called friend starts to abuse you mentally, physically and emotionally? Leaving a toxic relationship doesn’t make you the bad guy.

With Sinu

But why didn’t he helped Sinu? Because he is smart and if Samuel helped him, it would have compromised his place in Workers, and being rejected for the 5th time. Eugene still don’t trust him even after 3 years working with him (to be fair, Eugene don’t trust anyone). But he was still kind of checking on him until Mitsuki took him for the 2nd affiliate.

And he gave some infos to Jake about Sinu. Not much but they made a deal. Remember that Sinu kicked Samuel out of Big Deal using Jake.

Summit meeting

Looks pretty satisfied to see Big Deal joining Workers, when he purposely know that Jake is looking for Sinu. And he asked Eli what Hostel wanted instead of threatening them like Eugene DID.

2nd affiliate

He looked pretty happy to see Big Deal reunited, remembering the old days and he knew it was what Jake wanted. He was still in contact with him when he left with Sinu and Daniel. He didn’t do much in this arc thought.

Well, he beats the shit out of people equally. Can’t say much since it is the beginning.

Evolution

Well, he came from someone violent and very unstable to someone more composed. The best exemple is how he slapped a big deal members for forgetting his coat to someone who just say that “as a member of Big Deal, your coat should just be nice and clean”. He didn’t use violence to gain respect (see with his encounter with Jing Jang vs when he met Old face for the 1st time). Well except against Asan public, but he had to fight them anyway and no one likes Channing.

TL;DR: Samuel > Jake. Grey character. Looking bad but not really.
