Summary:

Of car crashes and the inevitability of a reunion that cannot be fought against, no matter what timeline it falls upon. AU of season 1, episode 6. Or, what would happen if Claudia wasn't around to stop Louis from going back to Lestat that one time by the car?

Notes:

This idea came to me last year and although I did not write it at the time, it has stayed with me this entire time. I always intended to write it and this was when it was meant to happen. This is not a piece of fluff. Instead, it is a dark love that cannot be ignored despite all that is wrong and every sign screaming at Louis to run away from the blaring neon red flag that is Lestat. I did allow another author to use my idea at the time (I am always willing to share my ideas!), but now I am reclaiming it as my own. I like what I have created here and am proud to have been able to finish a piece since it has been a while now. I love loustat with all my heart and am so excited to see what season 2 brings to the table. I am so sure I will be in agony and loving every second of it. A new trailer drops tonight! I think I have rambled on long enough? Does anyone actually read these notes? If you are reading this, also note that the title comes from the Mitski song of the same name and you should listen to it if you haven't. I felt the song perfectly encapsulated how Louis feels since although he knows their love is an absolute mess and will never be a dreamy, pure, lovely thing, it's theirs, and no one loves him like Lestat, nor does he love anyone the way he loves Lestat. It's something Louis can't fight against.

(cranky old woman voice): Yes I've seen the trailer, and I am excited, I hate that we're going down the memory route some more, it's tired, it's played out, I roll my eyes at the mention of memory, where is God in all this? Where is the hope there is a God kind enough to let your little monster into heaven? Where is thinking love is a good replacement for feeling of existential dread. It's giving new season of love and hip-hop with all the petty drama being the focus hmm

(squealing): But we're getting Lesmand something I never thought possible, Armand being jealous of louis mentioning Lestat constantly, (...and I once went out with a girl that I ghosted because she wouldn't shut up about her ex girlfriend, and her years living in australia funny enough....) I am in love with jealous Armand, I expected it, I even wrote it, but seeing it be so immature petty is interesting. They are like me and you! Small and anxious and afraid.

(fearful): They are going to redo episode 5 and I'm trying to be normal about that. I will be so normal and so sane and so adult about it.
