i desperately wish baby gays understood that comphet is not just “a lesbian experience of being compelled to be with men” but a feminist theory that examines the patriarchal centralization of men in women’s lives and how that intersects with queer sexualities; and that all queer women suffer the effects of it. the compulsion to centralize and choose men, and perform and participate in straightness, affects aro/ace, bi, pan, and lesbian women, because they’re all not straight.

it’s the most evident with lesbians, because we don’t experience attraction to men at all—but bi women who are fully content with their male partners, for example, may struggle with aspects like feeling compelled to deny their attraction to women, reject their identity, and cut off association with any community, because all those things do not conform to the performance of heterosexuality.

in other words, “being with men” is a lesbian aspect of comphet, but it isn’t the only one there is; and furthermore, any other queer women are subject to it, because the social and economic pressures to prioritize relationships with men (and the patriarchal entrapment of women into them) can result in unhappy relationships that sacrifice relationships with other women, despite them being genuinely attracted to men in general.

idk who needs to hear this but if someone is religious, it is their business. you aren't funny or edgy for expressing your hatred for all religions on earth (which i doubt anyway, because i dont think you know all roughly 4000 religions on earth). if you have your own gripes with it, that's fine. whatever. but also don't generalize, and don't make it anyone else's problem. i do not care what religion it is. just keep your lovely mouth shut.

People know that the whole "don't portray [harmful action] because viewers might recreate it" thing is a rule for children's shows right? It's supposed to be shit like "don't show peppa pig playing with fire so we don't get sued if a kid watches it and burns their house down." Not like, fanfiction for adults.

#i think it's a good general rule of thumb but there is like. crossover instances #eg don't show romanticized child porn bc pedos DO then show it to children to normalize the behavior #like we know they do this its documented #so like its still the same principle of keeping the kids in mind #but also i think the other rule of thumb are things that have singular (not good) purposes/audiences #e. g. child porn again #there is a singular audience and reason to create romanticized depictions of children being assaulted

The US government recently tried to pass a bill that would make it illegal to boycott. Consumers saying that we refuse to buy from companies that fund or support genocide DOES have power and impact. The BDS movement also isn't an overnight trend. It can last years or even decades. That's the commitment. So what do you mean we aren't doing much? Many stores have had to be closed, and lots of money has been lost for Starbucks and McDonald's, as just 2 examples.

I also already wrote about the dangerous slippery slope of censorship. It doesn't make a difference if you don't like tiktok (even though, just to clarify -tiktok has a plethora of content, which includes plenty of amazing educational content creators too) -it's also where A LOT of people get accessible, up-to-date information about world events -including what has been happening in Gaza. You know -the genocide the US and many fellow countries are vehemently denying. A genocide that is being funded by US tax dollars.

"Emotional thinking" is also a very interesting concept to me because where do you think this passion comes from Congressional Representatives? Who so desperately want to shut down an app more than they want to end gun violence, to push for rent control, free tuition, universal Healthcare...

This defeatist mentality -this apathetic mentality is killing people. Shame on you.
