the truth is that everyone in this world goes through defining moments in their lives and most people live past it. live with it, sure, but also live after it. bearing a burden for a time is hard but to carry it for the rest of your life is impossible. what ends up happening is that it's then unfairly placed on everyone around you. trauma cannot define you because you are bigger than any one moment of your life, no matter how devastating it is. to carry it is an act of self harm. to be defined by it is an act of self harm. to choose to dwell on it is an act of self harm.
