Psst twitter users here's a guide for how Tumblr works because it's! Not easy!

Important info will be highlighted in Red

('read more' signifies a long post usually, and is there so people don't have to scroll for 5 minutes past a longer post. Please please please use them.)

• There is NO ALGORITHM. All of the post on your dash are reblogs (called Retweets on twitter, reblogs are very different from reposts)

• If you want to ensure your post gets traction, either correctly hashtag it, or blaze the post.

• The tags system in here is really fucking weird, and only the first 5 tags you put on a post are used for other people to search your content. The rest are used to organize your blog so you can find things for later reference, people can find certain types of tags from you, etc.

• Blazing a post is literally just sponsoring your own post and paying a few bucks so it can be randomly put into people's dashes. (Be warned, if you blaze some dumb shit you people probably aren't gonna be super happy! So just don't blaze stupid shit unless you want to deal with that)

• You don't have to censor words here!! You don't have to curse like "F*u//ck" or "çuñt". There's literally no censorship against that shit, and all it does is make it a pain in the ass to read.

• Please for the love of god customize your blogs. We have a bad bot problem in this website, and they're usually characterized by plain or undecorated blogs that sometimes have usernames like "angela9584728" or some shit. If you don't customize your blog and start reblogging stuff to show you're active, people will block you if you follow them.

• Speaking of bots, if one follows you feel free to leave them there or block them. There isn't a public followers count on Tumblr so they don't really count towards that, and they probably won't interact with your blog more than leaving a "LOOKING FOR HOT SUGARBABIES WILL PAY 10K" message every other week.

• Don't, under any fucking circumstance, click links sent to you via DMS. I trust you already probably know this but if you don't, that's a virus. It WILL steal your password for Tumblr and it WILL literally turn your blog into an ad page.

• This site is really fucking prone to glitching out and fucking up. We literally had an issue earlier this week where, because there are people now migrating here from Twitter, the site literally couldn't handle it.

• If a site-wide or server-side issue occurs, all you can really do is post about it for shits and giggles, or wait it out. You'll usually see the former.

• If you're experiencing a client-side issue, just contact staff. Literally for any reason. This includes the shadowban glitch where your name won't show up in the search results, just contact staff about it or wait it out until it resolves it's self.

• Reblogs are more valuable than likes no matter what. This is especially important in artist circles, but is still important in general. Likes do not provide any sort of exposure for a piece, and the only way for it to gain more traction is through reblogging. If you're concerned about keeping your blog aesthetically pleasing, make a separate account where you actually support the content you intake.

• Cringe culture is dead and if you call shit cringe you're gonna get made fun of.

• You can also turn off post submissions. You can blacklist words to content warn you when you come across a post tagged with any of those words. You can filter whether or not you want to see NSFW content, gore, drug content, etc. YOU are responsible for curating your own online experience and do not expect people to pander for your comfort.

• Asks can be set to anonymous if you want to give people that freedom, but some people use it to be assholes without their name being seen. If you want to avoid that, turn anon off.

• Making posts on Tumblr is kind of like throwing noodles at a cabinet and waiting for one to stick, except they rarely stick. Just say random shit, there's no way to be purposefully funny on here.

• IMMEDIATELY GO INTO SETTINGS AND TURN OFF THE "best stuff first" FEATURE. IT FUCKS UP YOUR DASH.

• IF YOU DON'T LIKE SOMETHING THAT SOMEONE DOES OR SAYS JUST BLOCK THEM. Trust me you'll want to save your breath, because if you try to argue with some dumbfuck on here there's 1 in a thousand chance you'll actually get someone to listen to you. Not to mention, getting into fights on here can be fucking nasty and people can do some awful shit. Keep yourself safe.

• If you see an image that does not have a descriptive ID reblog under it, consider doing some yourself! It's super helpful to users on here who use screen readers.

• In addition to that, you might want to put your triggers list or DNI in here. That's cool! That's great! In my personal experience in this hellsite, people are going to interact despite, or even IN SPITE if that to piss you off. I've also had people be harassed with their triggers they've posted so if any of your triggers can put you in an unsafe state, please don't share them to the public.

• this is Tumblr, you're bound to see some weird shit. If you don't like it, you can hit the 3 dots on the corner of a post and say "woosh this away" or "this particular post isn't for me"

• And literally just have fun, we're all here to fuck around and have a good time. Twitter users are ofc welcome here despite the jokes, just help us keep this unprofitable cesspool as unprofitable as it is. We don't wanna be bought out by Musk either.
