met this little guy on my first day of my new job. he came into the shop and everyone was like freaking out and stuff and my coworker was trying to sweep him into a dust pan and I was like stop it. everyone stop freaking out. you're making it worse. and I put my hand in front of him and all my new coworkers were like is she gonna fucking pick that thing up? and I was like obviously and yoinked him right up and put him back outside in an alleyway next to a field. first day on the job and I'd already established myself as the resident rodent catcher freak. not quite the impression I hoped to make but an impression nonetheless
in welsh its "llygoden fawr" which means "big mouse"
i think english speaking rat communities should normalise the word ritten for baby rats. it's what everyone with even a sliver of rat knowledge calls them in the netherlands, i was honestly surprised when i learned you guys didn't use it too
me to people who don't have rats: yea they're actually really intelligent animals, they're great at solving puzzles and can learn all sorts of trics. they can even learn their names! they're way smarter than you'd expect for such tiny creatures and they also all have unique personalities.
me to other rat people on tumblr: look at him he's just a stupid little man :)
