img id: [screenshot of dialog from the game Baldur's Gate 3 of three lines being said by Karlach. "It's nice to be somewhere where good is still possible. Take you and Gale, for instance. Don't think I haven't noticed the sparks flying. He's a good egg. A little scholarly for my tastes, but I'm sure you could crack his spine like a new book."]
KARLACH this is the funniest fucking thing omg

Something that reading Dragonsteel Prime and Way of Kings Prime showed me, is that Brandon's primary shortcoming as an author is his pacing. Don't get me wrong, some of his books are beautifully paced(Words of Radiance, The Final Empire, Emperor's Soul, etc.) But Elantris and cytonic "famously" have weird pacing. I also found Oathbringer, Rhythm of War, and Frugal Wizards Handbook to Surving Medieval England to have weird pacing(less bad then Elantris but still weird). Now, being able to read his earlier work I can tell this is a consistent shortcoming of his.

when I was in high school my dad was speeding like crazy because I was running late to my job at the cemetery. and the cop who pulled him over gave him three whole tickets because who the hell goes 95 in a 25??? but then, when my dad went to court the cop didn’t show, and so the judge looked over at the charges and just couldn’t believe it. he thought the cop must’ve been so racist that he made it up because who the hell goes 95 in a 25? so my dad got all 3 tickets dismissed bc of racism. that he didn’t even experience because he was in fact going 95 in a 25.

Lift and Wyndle
After working on Lift's design for the miniature last year, I made a sketch that I really liked and now I finally decided that it deserved get a painted rendering. Here are some more sketches I did back then. The poses for Lift being awesome are taken from an ice skating race on a natural downhill track . I thought that got closest to gliding on uneven terrain.

don’t mind me, just thinking about how in 1941 Aziraphale stepped in to cover for a magician who was specifically a deserter and ended up having to pull off a legitimately deadly trick, under intense scrutiny and pressure, with no miracle other than somebody he trusted
just thinking about how Aziraphale is now stepping in to cover for a deserter and is going to have to pull off the highest stakes magic trick of all time (saving humanity), under intense scrutiny and pressure, with no one he trusts immediately within reach
just thinking about a lone caraway seed and three cowrie shells, and the art of making sure your audience is looking exactly where you want them to look, so you can hide the trick in all the spaces they’re not paying attention to
just thinking about how he can only ever pull off a magic trick when it’s either very close quarters or vitally important
you know, just thinking

I was thinking about Anthony J Crowley, as all normal ones do, and how it is that he seems to exist alone outside the dichotomy of Heaven and Hell. Crowley wasn't obedient enough to be an angel, he couldn't toe the party line, he wasn't deferential enough to God or any authority. But he's also not cruel, or apathetic enough to be a demon; he's too soft for Hell.
So what is Crowley? Not an angel, not a demon ("Former demon," he says in s2). But he's more than what he's not. Crowley is outside the Heaven/Hell binary because of who he is, the one identity that sets him apart from all other demons and angels: Crowley is the Serpent of Eden. The snake in the garden was the instigator of choice, the inspiration to humans to use free will. That's who Crowley is, and when he inspired Eve to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge, he aligned himself with the fate of humans.
Crowley doesn't belong to Hell, and he certainly doesn't belong to Heaven. Crowley belongs to humanity.

Rookie observations about Warhammer: swarm armies seem to be the most ADHD-friendly method of gameplay. Straight-up the classic "blind opponent brings you to a place that's completely dark to gain equal footing." Welcome to my world motherfuckers.
If I can't keep track of all the random bullshit I've got going on at this table, then neither can you.

Not the mf asking siri if the sex with the God Supreme was good because she's looking tired all the time but actually it's because she's on her knees all night long, fearing the possible death that can come upon her 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
