Aoife had been in Balheath for around a month now, and in that time she had come to love the small town. For the first time ever, she had the freedom to go where she wanted, wherever she wanted, and enough money from her uncle to buy whatever she liked. Though, she had overindulged somewhat. In her arms she held a new dress from the tailor, two new novels and three pastries from the bakery (it had been four not long ago). She felt like quite the pack horse, until she noticed the young women struggling with her large bag a little ways ahead, and came to realise it was a light load in comparison.
She seemed rather lost by her expression, and Aoife's suspicions were only confirmed as she was called over. "I've never had much luck with maps myself. Yes, this is the wonderful Balheath." Aoife motioned her arm around, before holding it out to shake the woman's hand. "My name is Aoife. I would be happy to help you find your accommodations if you are staying in town?"

How hard could it be to read a map? It had appeared so easy, at first glance. But now Else was wrestling with the wrinkled, confusing piece of paper she had purchased at an appalling price at the train station, trying to find her way in an unknown town.
"Excuse me," she called to the nearest passerby as she left her heavy bag on the ground for a moment. "Is this Balheath? It seems my map has decided not to cooperate with me today."

personality overview
her favourite activity, aoife would explain to all that would listen, was to wander. aimlessly and without care. it is much the same way she leads her life.
though at times this carelessness could lead to unfavourable outcomes, she did always learn something, and it always left her with a story.
take the stroll in the forest behind her accommodations in balheath, for instance. the one where aoife wandered into a particularly nasty patch of stinging nettles after mistaking the spearheaded leaves for mint. she spent the night with salve on her ankles, flipping through the pages of a botany encyclopaedia to ensure it did not happen again.
appearance overview:
stained dress hems from disregarding puddles on morning strolls. after all, the flowers to the side of the road were just too delightful not to smell. though a hair is never out of place on her head. dark loose waves arranged neatly in whatever style is most popular amongst the society folk.

background
aoife never knew family. o’malley was just a name after all. a name whispered through the school halls whenever a new girl was enrolled at miss parsons.
“she’s a parlour boarder.” they would swoon, “though they are quite estranged, i hear her uncle handles her affairs. her dear mother passed during childbirth, and her father died shortly afterward.” hands brought to cover shocked mouths, heads shaking.
poor orphaned aoife o’malley.
though it rarely bothered her; surrounded by her peers she never felt alone.
it was only when she came of age – when she was either expected to assist at the school, or, god forbid, marry – did she resent her isolation in the world. she had no estate she could run to, a place where she could retire a spinster, and she really had no interest in studying or working. no, she wanted to live. instead, she wrote to her uncle, asking for a stipend to pursue her dearest wish to become a governess in balheath. a guise, one that worked.
