WHAT KIND OF LOVE ARE YOU?
Tumblr media
— 𝙻𝙾𝚅𝙴 𝙰𝚂 𝙰 𝙵𝙾𝚁𝙲𝙴 𝙾𝙵 𝙽𝙰𝚃𝚄𝚁𝙴 .
Your love is like whiplash –– it comes in with the rain, it blows the doors wide open. When you fall in love, it is sudden and hard and immense. It is powerful. It is earth-shaking and world-ending. Nature is a force, and that force can be destructive if you're not careful. See how the world is doused in gasoline and set on fire –– your love consumes, your love takes, your love burns. You're hot and cold all at once, a hurricane and a wildfire bound together in skin, and when you're in love, it can feel like it's eating you alive from the inside out. When you love, it is with everything you have because it is everything you have. Be careful, darling, because not everyone survives the storm.

Every year, Anzu makes a point of going to a shrine to purchase an omamori for her friends. Omamori are Japanese amulets commonly sold at Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples, said to provide various forms of luck and protection. They are usually covered with brocaded silk and enclose paper or pieces of wood with prayers written on them, and can often be seen on bags, hung on cell phone straps, in cars, etc. They are typically bought at the end of the year or directly on New Year's Day.
This started relatively early in her life, initially beginning with her mother giving her money to buy one for Yuugi when she was in middle school. As their friend group expanded, and Anzu found work as she entered high school, she began purchasing them herself and gifting them to each of her friends on New Year's Day and taking the old ones back to the shrine she got them from to be burned.
Each omamori is personalised with prayers specific to that person that Anzu writes herself. Of course, since it is considered bad luck to open omamori, her friends never know what she writes, but the sentiment is the same.
This tradition carries over even when she leaves Japan and moves to New York, though it becomes a little more difficult to pull off. Since there are no Shinto shrines or Buddhist temples in New York, she opts to buy omamori online when she cannot afford to travel back to Japan, or cannot fit the trip into her dance schedule, and has them sent to her friends homes so they can start the new year with positive prayers and protection.
Omamori are not just bought for her friends. She also buys one each for her parents, and — if she has been dating someone long enough — buys one for them as well.

ICON BORDER & DIVIDER : numerical advantage , 54 x 54 PRICE : $4.00 USD TERMS OF USE : credit faegfx somewhere in your rules or pinned post
another yugioh-inspired border, this time for seto kaiba. i was initially going to try to incorporate the duel disk from dsod, but it just didn't end up working the way i wanted it to. this is a pretty minimalist border, all things considered and can probably be used for other characters with some tweaking. while i didn't leave the layers separated, it shouldn't be too difficult to use the eraser tool if you want to get rid of the kaibacorp logo or change the text.

Ain + Reference Sheet  ✧  Artist: adadevoda
PLEASE DO NOT REBLOG. This is an original concept of Anzu’s Ancient Egyptian counterpart ( named Ain in this verse ) strictly for my own use and interpretation, and as such, I do not want it spread around the fandom. Thank you!
