A lot could be said about Anja at first sight. When you first lay eyes on her she looks calm, collected, a smart and perfect girl. She pays attention to her classes and wants to follow in her mother’s footsteps and become a lawyer. She’s pretty good looking but not model material, she’s rather short and her hair is shoulder length and blond.
A lot can be said about Ellen too when you first look at her. She looks like a trouble maker, reckless and adventurous. She’s on her phone during class and hasn’t chosen a profession just yet. She hides a couple of tattoos under her dark clothes and she’s the image of beauty, her long jet black hair with purple and blue highlights cascading over her face.
Weeks have passed since Anja first started to notice how beautiful Ellen is. There’s something about her, about her aura, that intrigued her. She was doing exactly that, noticing her, when Ellen looked up. Their gazes met and she felt her heart do a somersault. Ellen’s eyes were the darkest of browns, a perfect contrast to her light blue ones. She wanted to look away not to look creepy or weird but her beauty seemed attract and trap her. She could have stared at her for hours if it weren’t for the face she made. Ellen looked angry. The sort of angry that changed the atmosphere of a room that made people around her uncomfortable. So much so, that some of their classmates started to look away from the board. Anja felt herself blush and turned the other way, her heart beating loudly in her chest. She had never felt that before, what was it?
Anja felt embarrassed and didn’t dare to look at her for the rest of the day. She decided she would content with that brief moment when their eyes met, before she ruined everything. She didn’t even notice that those were the eyes she drew all day on her notebooks, mind wondering how it would feel like to be able to look into them forever.
In her embarrassment she failed to notice the subtle grin on the other girls lips after she turned away. Or that those marvelous brown eyes lingered on her long enough to register the three shades of blond in her hair.
