AU where Kanjigar dies nine years earlier and instead of getting picked up by Jim Lake the amulet gets picked up by harried single-mom-trying-to-get-her-kid(s)-to-school Barbara Lake. 

Barbara Lake who has a fulltime job, one mysteriously missing (soon to be ex) husband, and less sleep than a medical student. Barbara Lake who’s just trying to keep seven year old Jim and Toby from accidentally killing themselves when they get left with Mrs. Domzalski. Barbara Lake who has no time for magic or destiny, but who gets stuck with it anyway. Barbara Lake who will fight for her child’s future, but who also swore a Hippocratic oath and is going to do her best to Do No Harm, right up until someone threatens her family. 

Barbara Lake, Trollhunter extraordinaire and local ER doctor, running off of coffee and prayers. It turns out Trollmarket has some excellent babysitters. 

Toby and Jim get clued in early and mostly sworn to secrecy, but they’re still way too willing to pick a fight for Jim’s mom. Jim is also a burgeoning master chef, who keeps experimenting with troll cuisine and nearly burning his face off trying to make dinner for everyone. 

No one knows why little James is so determined to feed everyone, Barbara’s cooking is wonderful by Troll standards. 

Barbara is a brilliant lady with a good grasp of anatomy once she gets her hands on some troll medical books, thanks Vendel! She’s definitely a pragmatist, willing to go for weak points and low blows, but she tries not to do permanent damage. 

She and Blinky end up as nerdy BFFs remarkably quick, and he and Arrrgh adopt the kids. 

The confrontation with Draal goes down much as in canon, except Draal is even more of a dumb teenager and Barbara is surprisingly sympathetic. She ends up taking him under her wing, and he’s the cool older brother Toby and Jim need. He knows how hard a Trollhunter parent is, and has lots of emotions about the fact that Barbara isn’t pushing her kid aside. 

One of the things that does change from canon is that Strickler is principal of the elementary school- probably filling in as a favor to someone on the school board. He’s surprisingly good with kids, even if he does keep quoting classical literature to them. Also, he’s really popular with the PTA parents. 

It takes he and Barbara even longer to figure out each other’s identities, and before they do they strike up a friendship over worrying about Jim’s nascent martyr tendencies. Post reveal there are lots of awkward parent-teacher meetings. Strickler has a not-so-tiny nemesis crush. 

Jim adores Strickler, who takes him very seriously and treats him like a tiny adult. Barbara doesn’t tell the kids that Strickler is evil at first, to keep them from doing anything rash. It’s a legitimate concern, when Jim and Toby figure out they get suspended for trying to jump their principal in the teacher’s parking lot. 

Claire is the most popular girl in the second grade, if something of a tomboy at seven. Jim and Toby are in awe of her, but they become friends fast after Strickler encourages them to talk. She’s also Barbara’s favorite patient who has racked up quite the broken bone count over the course of her childhood. She’s still settling into her more controlled grown self, but everyone agrees she’s going to be formidable when she’s older. 

Claire’s dad is the head of the PTA, so the Nunezs get involved quickly. Claire sees her little brother get stolen by monsters mid-season and investigates on her own for a while before getting clued in and joining Team Lake. 

Draal and Nomura’s relationship is much more current, and definitely had something to do with Kanjigar’s death. Draal has Issues. Barbara, who is all too aware how relationships can go wrong, just wants the kids to be happy. As an adult, she’s also more leery of the anti-changeling prejudice, and keeps trying to win Nomura and Strickler over to the side of good. She probably eventually suceeds. 

The Trollmarket is still hesitant to accept a human Trollhunter, but they warm to Barbara in time. She’s a mother, just like Deya the Deliverer once was. Maybe she’ll finish Deya’s work. 

Barbara is just trying to save the world, not get fired, keep all three kids now in her care alive, and finish filing her divorce papers. She triple brews her coffee these days. 

Her co-workers are really concerned about her because she keeps coming in late with strange injuries. On the other hand, weird accidents in Arcadia Oaks are at an all time high, and they need every hand on deck they can get. 

Warrior medic Barbara Lake, out of her armour and ready to start treating collateral injuries immediately. No wonder Strickler is smitten. 

Whatever happens to James Lake is eventually relevant and there is so much drama.

what if Bular was actually good at math? Like he did mental calculations in his head to know how hard or fast to swing his weapon based on it’s weight and how much power he was able to give? Of where he would land based on his angle and the force he could put into it? What if he’s a massive nerd who uses math for jock reasons??

the fact that i'm no longer the same age as the protagonists of novels and films i once connected to is so heartbreaking. there was a time when I looked forward to turning their age. i did. and i also outgrew them. i continue to age, but they don't; never will. the immortality of fiction is beautiful, but cruel.

Hello, honestly I don't know if my headcanons about the ToA goblins are funny or not but they are as follows;

They're totally capable of speaking trollish and english (and other languages) but simply chose not to out of spite because everyone is so shit to them.

Unionised.

They are the product of what happens when magic meets slimemould, which is how they stay together in A Shape despite not having any bones and basically being muppets filled with upsettingly viscous organic materials.

They reproduce asexually, you know that green gloopy mess they're seen in on the ceilings in the show? That's how they replenish their numbers every day, and why they look like clones of each other, because they essentially are. They hang onto the ceiling, liquefy, glorp around for a bit and divide each cell, regrouping into new bodies when they're done.

Note that little to none of this is canonical to the franchise, just a small group of theories about how they work based on my interpretation of how they're presented.

Bananas are the physical manifestation of Tom Bombadil’s laughter. He didn’t need them tho so he threw them like a fast ball and they landed on Farmer Maggot’s lot. It worked out from there.

I think that banana bread is a very hobbit-like food. I could imagine Bilbo having a slice with his tea. The thing is I cannot for the life of me imagine a fucking banana in Middle-Earth. They don’t belong there. Solution: banana bread just spawns in the Shire and no one fucking knows where it comes from

Even the kindest of faces can have the darkest stories behind them. ... 4/6 ued-in-we-are-w ... So, something I should clarify for copyright reasons, 'I Remember' technically (emphasis on that) takes place in the continuity established by "Trollhunters: The Secret History of Trollkind", the comic published by Dark Horse Comics. It's not 100% a complete copy, but it definitely uses said comic and its counterpart 'The Felled' as a baseline. I'd for sure recommend giving them a read if you're interested, they're really solid installments and have the same feel as the books they tie into. Speaking of which, a HUGE thank you to @itsmergb for allowing me to use his version for Skarlagk the Scorned, theirs is a really great design and take on the character, I'm still shivering with hype ^^ Course, it's thanks to the work of @undeadchestnut that this has been brought to life for our enjoyment, so another big thank you to her as well :)
