“in the end, all girls are like the rose bride” is one of my favorite anthy lines of the show specifically in the context that this is one of the most fraught periods of her and utena’s friendship with each other and they have been turned against each other by forces like akio (intentionally) and silent biases that made them blame each other first and this is anthy seeing utena a little hurt and confused because she’s been subjected to akio trying to compress her into this very traditionally feminine mold even though he at first asserted that he’d accept her the way she was, and anthy, especially during this turmoil, crossing this divide a little and going You know you’re not completely different from me, you’re like me, the rose bride. and holding utena’s hand. finding solidarity instead when a rift was being intentionally formed to separate them etc. that’s why it torments me that the dub adds in a new part to this line where anthy clarifies that that’s what she thinks akio meant to say, that all girls are rose brides, to make her line a direct response to utena’s earlier rhetorical musing, when i don’t think it was meant to be per se, or meant to be his thought - it was hers

i need finish reading this book because i got half way through and i really wanted to look up fanart because everything described sounded so cool but then i got spoiled for the ending of the first book and it just turned me off of reading it 😭 i really like gideon and harrow though and i was enjoying the book a lot !! so im going to give it another try on the train on my way to see my friend. theyr the one who gifted the book to me actually haha
