What is AI?
AI is the science emphasized in making machines performing and reacting like humans do. The core element making machines have a similar thinking model with humans is called neural network.
The idea of Neural network is simulating a computer system with silicon and wires as a human brain with living neurons and dendrites. The neurons in the neural network is called nodes. The neurons are connected by axons to propagate the information, such as images and voices, to other neurons; while the nodes are connected by link to pass the results of operations on the input data to other nodes.
AI is capable of learning like humans do due to the neural network. Machine learning uses data to discover patterns in the data, then adjust the program action accordingly. In other words, it can analyze the data.

[News] Artificial Intelligence in Music:
A West Virginia teenager has created a rapping A.I. bot that self-generates bars using Kanye West lyrics, Quartz reports. Robbie Barrat, 17, was debating whether artificial intelligence could be taught to perform tasks better than humans in his high school’s programming club. Using open-source code, Barrat programmed the A.I. with 6,000 Kanye lines and finished the project in a week to show his peers at the next club meeting.

Advantages:
Companies can utilize their resources more efficiently by integrating AI into their business. In the bombarding informational age, Information overload has been a common cause for managerial inefficiency. It leads to another problem, data resource challenge, since managers would prefer to ignore the excessively huge information when they are not able to process. On the other hand, AI can process enormous data which human unable to do and analyze data faster than human does. If the AI is integrated into companies’ database, it can access to all the data throughout entire company with significantly less time. Therefore, large amount of time can be saved from processing and analyzing data so that managers can input the extra time to other value-added businesses.

Disadvantages:
The cost incurred in maintenance and repair for an AI could be expensive. As business environment is dynamic that the conditions are ever-changing, the AI correlated programs should be updated timely and frequently. This requires more labors, that is, higher labor cost, to keep tracking and updating the AI to fit the intensely competitive ecosystem of business. In case of a breakdown results in malfunction of the AI, the procedures of repairing and restoring it would be costly and time-consuming. It may bring further damage to the company’s operation due to malfunction of the AI.

COST:
The investment on the developing an AI is expensive that not every small company can afford it. AI should be set up regard to company’s specific needs since the data of various companies would be different even two companies are on the same industry. Therefore, it demands immense and detailed market research to determine what kind of AI would be the fittest for the company. It takes a lot of time and labor for doing such research, which means, high amount of cost. Toyota, for example, had spent 1 billion to develop AI and robotics for its own auto business. (TheGuardian, 2015). However, it is reasonable to expect the cost will become lower and lower that AI will be affordable for everyone due to the Moore law. (Image Source: Bloomberg)

Example: Fake News Detector AI
Fake News Detector AI is developed by a 19-year old Stanford student named Karan Singhal to identify fake news. There are millions of information generated in day on the internet, some are true, while some are fake. Human is unable to process such a tremendous amount of information since it is impossible to track every single new story as they pop up, however, maybe AI can. To do so, Fake News Detector AI had accessed to big data incorporated with incredibly vast website that it can make the comparison with variety of true or fake stories thoroughly by looking at the patterns like words or layout. Then, it would engrave the features associated with the fake story into its neural network. In other words, it is doing so to learn what is signified as fake and true. Once the AI is instructed to recognize whether the news on the website are fake or not, it programs the features on the website into the neural network to determine it is fake or not. (Gary Eastwood, 2017).

Future use
Management works relative with analyzing data could be taken by AI which make the management procedures more concisely and precisely.
The AI’s powerful function of analyzing function brings wide variety of benefits to the business and may serve the company as a formidable support for build its competitive advantage.
The emerge of AI could replace some existing jobs through automation, but it would not necessarily eliminate the amount of jobs, but it would reduce the salary offer for performing it. (Oliver, 2016)
