“As a revenant, your powers tend to be based on what you need most when you die,” the yeti explained, “not always but more than likely that is why you have the power of fire.”

Jason shook his head, “but-I died in a fire, I-” using his powers would make him flinch, make him hear a distance ticking, “I don’t see how I would have needed that in death?”

Frostbite looked at Jason, his face turned into something Jason hated, comfort pity.

“Are you sure the fire is when you died? Has there never been a day that you craved the warmth so much that the need for it is what willed you to continue?”

“N–” Jason started to deny, when a dark and cold night suddenly came to mind. Years before trying to jack Batman’s tires, one of the first nights of winter after his mother passed. Huddled as much as he could in a tshirt and jeans in a rotting building on the outskirts of crime alley. So cold he thought he wouldn’t see morning. But he did see the morning, and after that, the nights of winter on the streets were always easier. Not completely warm, but not bone chilling cold either.

I guess I know what silly thing *I'm* including in my next fanfic...

taking off a mask to reveal what lies beneath as a romantic gesture is overdone, and besides i want to see the romantic or even platonic potential of protecting someone's identity beneath the mask, without any expectation of ever being allowed to see what's under it. picking it up and holding it gently to their face when it's knocked off and they're in danger of being exposed, without trying to catch a glimpse of what they "really" look like under there. throwing yourself in front of them to hide them from view while they put themselves back together without taking advantage or looking back to see what you're protecting. learning to read them by body language, tone of voice, and behaviour so well that you never need to see their face to feel like you know and understand them.

my friend told me today that if he hallucinates, it's usually thinking he heard someone yelling his name across the house, or a phone ringing when it isn't.

experiencing hallucinations is nowhere near as interesting or intriguing as horror media hypes it up to be btw its mostly just annoying as fuck. like okay skinless body i see out of the corner of my vision you got me the first time but this shits gettin old pack it up......

I’ve mentioned before that we know Bruno is super blunt and his social skills are lacking (part of the reason so many of us love and relate to him) and this attributed to people believing his comments were actually prophecy- such as growing a gut or losing hair.

However, I failed to recognize that there could be a secondary option. Those people could have asked Bruno for a vision, like “how will my business be doing in 5 years?” and the guy happens to be heavier or has lost his hair by then in the picture on the vision.

So they could have seen the visions they literally asked for and misinterpreted them entirely because they were so distracted by the fact that their appearance has changed.

I personally still believe that they were comments made by Bruno and not part of a vision since he tells Pepa that saying it looked like rain on her wedding day was not prophecy, but I do have to admit that this is still an option too.

I think one of my favorite tropes in fanfiction is the one where, in this universe, having more than one power is basically death sentence for that person becoming insane.

i.e. my hero academia, mutants from x-men, etc.

Then danny comes in with his stockpile of powers, and seems fine..

But everyone keeps looking at him weird.

And little do they realize.. (thanks to dan).. that prospect? Is actually pretty close to the truth.

At some point, staying becomes a weird badge of pride.

Headcanon that the GIW hates Johnny 13 with a burning passion because:

He appears human enough to fool eyewitness.

Cameras can’t guarantee a clear picture because he’s a ghost so they have little to go off of in terms of what he looks like.

Shadow and Johnny’s own bad luck tends to destroy scanners or at least make them unusable.

He never goes back to the ghost zone for more than a day and is almost always somewhere in town.

So anytime they get a report of “that biker ghost” somewhere in Amity Park it turns into a massive game of “find the imposter” because they know that ONE of these people is a ghost but they have no idea who in particular. So it usually ends up with the GIW interrogating some random guy who loosely fits Johnny’s description, it turning out to be a completely normal human being, Johnny getting away and one hour later they get ANOTHER report of “that biker ghost” somewhere else in town and the whole thing starts over, wasting time and resources. It’s a never ending game of “where’s Waldo” but Waldo looks like every other person on the page.

Not to mention the few times they DID capture him successfully only for their equipment to fail and Johnny to escape before they could make a detailed profile of him because Johnny literally radiates bad luck and they have no way to counter that effectively.
