A plate of rare steak is placed at the door with a note. The note read…”You said you wanted beef.” - @ask-idv-suspects
"D-Darling! There's a plate of steak at the door! Uuughhh... it looks like it's been sitting here for a few days, the smell is wretched...!!"
"I'm aware, it was left there for it's return to the sender. Make sure that postman makes it snappy. Trash from people like him deserve none of my time or patience."
"R-Right dearest..."

"A-A huge contribution to society? Mmh... I think I will have to politely decline. I have my hands tied as it is between raising children and keeping the wife happy, b-but if you would be so inclined, I'm sure my daughters could use some lessons. O-On that note, I really shouldn't hold onto these for much longer."
Damien shakily handed the girl back her medals and certificates.
"Besides, I am happy where I am. It was a long path to get here, but I am. You little ones have a much longer way to go."
"Hi! I'm Caroline! Nice to meet you!"
A little girl with braided pigtails and a blue uniform approaches them, smiling wide. In her hands is a large book that seems way too heavy for her to carry.

"Oh hello there little one! My name is Damien Hardwick. What can I do for you? That book looks... heavy to say the least. Are you one of Aurora's friends? I-If so, I humbly request that you keep any potentially dangerous surprises to a minimum."

"I see, I see..." The Debtor merely listened and nodded along. "These are quite the accomplishments for a girl your age. I can't help but feel a little intimidated... or perhaps jealous. Your father must be very proud of you. For most it would be a miracle to even be nominated for these awards, let alone achieve them three times. For someone like myself, it would be impossible."

"O-Oh dear, r-really I did not mean to offend."
Damien stammered as he was handed all the proof. He squinted at the certifications, knowing full well that he wouldn't be able to spot a fake regardless. It was best to play along.
"Well consider me defeated young lady. These certainly do look like Nobel Prizes. You must be truly gifted to achieve these. What were they for exactly?"

"Certainly! I'm sure he is roaming around somewhere..."
The Debtor blinked as he as presented with the book. His eyes drifted from the title to the girl's face and then back to the title. Suffice to say, he was in utter disbelief.
"Th-Third Nobel Prize?! Surely you are pulling my leg. At such a young age... how could such an accomplished individual end up here. A-And Advanced Chemistry?! Just imagining it makes my head spin. I was never the most academic man in school."

"Lawrence the Gambler. I see... Apologies for my rude questions. I am Amanda Hardwick, the Escort."
Seeing the other take her hand, she did admit, it did make her a tad flustered, but her reserved nature snapped back into her cold gaze as she pulled it away, crossing her arms under her chest.
"Anything is my fancy, but if Blackjack is your suited preference, be warned, I'm rather good at it. After all, I am friends with the Dealer, Taegan Collins."
"That being said, please o not try to resort to cheating. I'm no fool."
Sitting down, the Escort let out a sigh before relaxing, gesturing to the seat across from her.
"Care to tell your tale here, Mr. Lawrence?"
"So I heard you're a hooker. How's that going for you?"
@ask-the-hardwicks-idv
The Gambler seems to choke on air at the sudden question, turning around with a look of disbelief.
"I-I'm sorry, what? Ma'am I think you got the wrong person."

The Escort seemed to tilt her head, crossing her arms under her chest before continuing to speak to the other.
"Sorry about that, Not very... er... social with others. I hear you're a Gambler. How do you fancy your bets on a game of cards?"

"O-Oh? Am I so bad? I've tried to be better, for my family's sake if not my own... oh who am I kidding? I'll never be good. I've sold far too much of my soul to come back from! W-Wait... was that a compliment? M-My sincerest apologies, I fear my head hasn't been quit screwed on right as of late. Thank you, I try to look presentable despite certain aspects."

"Hon, this isn't my first day, and definitely isn't my last." Shaking her head, Amanda frowned as she stilled to silence for a moment. Everything seemed to be dark skies, rightfully so. With a long sigh escaping her lips, Amanda closed her eyes before squeezing Archer's hands.
"And do you think a piece of paper was any better? I know you're not used to people... and I know deep down, you don't want him to leave you... Hell, it doesn't even have be that hard Archer..."
"You're holding yourself back again, this is no different with Alu doing so to Pearce. It's like your own metaphorical demons. The only difference is one has a conscious."
Looking back at the knife, Amanda let out a deep breath before moving a hand to extend it to the other.
"Let's hop that hurdle and bury it here, in these woods. You're worried if Pearce will hurt himself right? You can bury it deep in the ground, an no one will even bother."
Scooping up the small pup with her free hand, Amanda pulled up the Archer, looking a bit irritated at how tall they were for a moment. God she hated being short... Discarding that thought, She lead the other over to a open patch of dirt, pointing to the ground.
"Right here, right now. I doubt he needs that knife as much as he says. In fact, I think it's a ruse. Who knows, maybe it's actually that stupid demons or something."
// @ask-the-hardwicks-idv - Sending your girl!
The Escort was always one to traverse deep into the forest. Given that she was little, she did her best to keep it satisfied. Carrying one of it's spawn in her arms. She wouldn't stray further than the territory was marked, except for when she heard quiet sobbing.
Turning her head, Amanda went to investigate, making a beeline before seeing the Archer huddled up. To say it surprised her was an understatement. Eyeing her surroundings, she ha to make sure the Wendigo wasn't pulling a trap, but when's a girl not fit for danger?
Making her way over, Amanda kneeled down, gently lifting the Archer's face. "Hey..." Her voice was soft this time, despite thee various times she was harsh with others, with Archer, she could make a pass for. "Why are you crying...? And..." Quick to notice the blood, Amanda stayed quiet before setting the freakish spawn in the other's lap.
"Please... Let me help you... Or... at least, tell me what did this to you... It's not safe here..."
Tumblr media
It was safe there in the woods for the still shocked archer. The Wendigo had left for a while ago - Archer unsure where the other went - so they had time to cry a little more. It was almost hard for them to hear the approachment of the Escort until she was much closer. It was obvious that Archer was too tired to try fixing themselves up as they sat against the tree, sniffling as they tried to stop their tears with little luck.
"It's.... it's not my blood," Archer quietly informed her as she was no doubt curious about the blood over them. Fingers shakily moved to pet the thing in their lap as if it was a therapy animal.
There was a shaky intake of breath as Archer gathered themselves to try speaking more without breaks in their already aching vocals. "I.... Pearce.... Pearce had gotten taken over...by that demon and just....." Archer bit their lip. "He.....he stabbed himself in the gut Amanda....I..." Archer swallowed hard. "I don't know how to face him....I don't know why he would do-" Archer paused for a moment as they scrunched up their face a little. "I know....somewhat....I said some things to him...I had given him a bracelet I made with my answer to his question he asked before and then he changed and threw it back."
Fresh tears welded up in Archer's eyes. "I feel like a goddamn fool....like what he asked me was just a silly game to him! Making me start to have feelings for him beyond friendship!" Archer cried in a hurt tone.

Amanda kept silent for a moment as she listened fully. She had no intentions of interrupting them before thinking. Shifting, she forced herself to stand and walk a way ahead of the Archer, spreading her arms out to stretch. She wanted to know how she handled it? Perhaps she could let them in on it all.
"Simple, I talk with him. No nonsense, nothing. I think the major factor here is a lack of communication. And thus, leads to miscommunications like this." Short and straight forward, turning to face the other, Amanda huffed before lifting their chin for a moment.
"An look where I am now, I'm happily married, two kids, and one hell of a husband at that. I try to make him happy, as much as he sacrifices to make me and our children happy. This ISN'T an invitation for you to get knocked up, before your stupid ass goes there."
Squatting down, she moved to hold hands with the Archer, a serious gaze in her eyes. "You should talk to him, seriously. No skirting around, or beating the bush. If you think you can muster the strength and courage... Shoot for the stars. You don't have to be alone either, I'm here always, not your best friend, but... as someone who knows how to handle a crazy no less."
Moving her head around, she could hear distant screeching, the small creature in Archer's lap perking up and tilting it's head. it sounded like it's mother was looking for it. A small whimper escape the baby's throat before curling back up into Archer's stomach.
"..." "That skull dog... Is it around? Really hoping it's not out on a vengeful hunt right now..."

As the Escort listened, her face contorted with slight anger for a moment, only to stop and exhale sharply. Sounding disappointed even. Gently turning the Archer's head towards her, she had a somber expression plastered on her face. Ruby red lips visibly showing a frown.
"Do you honestly believe that? Really? Alu acting upon what Pearce wanted to do? Maybe he said that the first time, sure. But you said it yourself. the man's easy to read. Why are you bothering to listen to that demon anyways? Because he's the 'truthful' side of him?"
Again, she couldn't be more disappointed in them both, more so with Pearce and Archer. But how could she blame them? They were two separate people who lived in isolation. Honestly, she never expected the two of them to remotely even speak to each other.
Maybe she should stop second guessing herself.
"Are you dense?" It was blunt, but she eventually cupped Archer's cheeks, giving a small squeeze as she grumbled. "Hon, you've done nothing wrong at all, hell, I don't think you even realize how stupid he can be..."
Moving her hands, she took the unoccupied hand of Archer's and faced their palm to the Escort. Pointing in the center of the bowman's palm, Amanda continued. "You gave him a bracelet right? A special one at that... Maybe he interpreted it wrong, not that he thinks you're terrible. He jumps to conclusions, often not negative ones at that, no? Do you think deep down, he thought you wanted to be just friends? I don't know, I'm all over the place with this bracelet nonsense..."
Finally, she held onto Archer's hand, giving it a small reassuring squeeze. She frowned, again too harsh with her words. Mumbling a quiet sorry, she took in a deep breath and exhaled loudly.
"I don't blame you... I fear one day, Damien's going to go back to those terrible tendencies... I wanted to avoid him for so so long... But I then realized how much he really needed me. And I wouldn't wanna lose him, regardless of we're married or allies... To see you two drift apart like this..."
"You know the manor's worried for you both, right?"

Have you got any kind of intrest in the people of the manor? Any specific persona you would wish to talk to or somebody you seem to not trust much?
"Nobody in the manor is trustworthy. A German fellow taught me that. As far as interaction goes, the children keep me far too busy. However, if I had the chance, I wouldn't mind taking Aurora to play with the other children. I'm sure she's bored of hanging around her pitiful father by now."
"I have no interest in the manor folk. I already warned that news reporter to keep his nose out of my business. The only one who I deem worthy enough of my time is that fool Archer, and those of the original gang, excluding Cole for personal reasons. My children can interact with whoever they desire, but those should be warned I have no mercy for harming them."
"Oh! I wanna meet a lot of people! Like the scary showman! The time travel guy and his sister! O-Oh oh! The green dancer lady! And the big fox man, and the racoon girl, the skull dog, and the chocolate lady, oh! Don't forget Mama and Papa's friends! OH and-"
"Be quiet, we get it. You wanna talk to every single go damn person in the manor. As for me, I suppose... I suppose it would be the rescuers. I could learn a thing or two from them... They do seem rather interesting..."
