Playing "Rest in Peace" and having somebody just scoop right there will never not be hilarious.
i don't get the whole "i feel bad exiling the reanimator player's graveyard in commander" thing. personally i like things staying dead and i also like my opponent not having an extra hand
get bojuka bog'd, get ashiok'd, get canoptek scarab swarm'd etc

Okay, Thunder Junction spoilers are ago and they're really fun so far! There's a lot of fun legacy characters coming back and it all just feels very warm and fuzzy to me. However, something more important has caught my eye.

So like, where do the millions of goblin tokens you summon come from?
Are they your kids?
Friends?
Some sort of magical barracks similar to clash of clans?
Or maybe even just having the number of millions of goblins from infinite planes to get your troops needed after tapping you 3-5 times.
Also what happens to the remaining goblins after I win?
Do they all die?
Do they all clock out?
Are they just stuck?
Alright, lets start with a brief explanation of gameplay and story segregation. Just because you as a player can have a game where I summon literally infinite goblins doesn't mean there ARE literally infinite goblins. Just like you can theoretically have three different Krenkos on board, or you can have a snake wearing boots, sometimes things don't quite line up.
That said, I do have well over a thousand goblins I can call upon. Where do they come from? Ravnica. They're my boys. I'm the Mob Boss, the Kingpin, the Baron of Tin Street. I have guys, dudes, goons, flunkies, thugs, henchmen, whatever you want to call them, and that's all them. I'm the only one who cares about the guildless goblins on this godsforsaken plane, and they come when I call because they know what's good for Krenko is good for goblins.
As for what happens after you win, well, we all go home. Same things that happens to most summoned things after the battle's done. Then we usually go get drinks and make fun of whoever was in the duel, including the one who summoned me to begin with. Unless it's a total babe, in which case we make increasingly lewd comments until we collapse into a pile of laughter.

Murders at Karlov Manor Card Design Stories
I’m trying something new. I’m currently writing card design stories for Murders at Karlov Manor. What cards would you all like to hear the design story about?

Doctor Who has goblins now? Somebody explain.
Nothing amuses me more than Gavin Verhey's righteous indignation that precisely one episode after the cutoff for Doctor Who episodes he was allowed to make magic cards for, they introduce goblins

How good do you think Muxus is?
Muxus is really strong, but the high mana cost is, in fact, a high mana cost. I've got a Muxus historic brawl deck, and Legacy Muxus (often with Krenko!) is a real deck. If you can get Muxus out with a well-built deck there's a good chance of just winning the game right there.
I have nothing but respect for Muxus, and it's nice to have a top-end goblin for goblin decks to use. Lot of power if you build for him.

another inherently funny part of star trek is the very first show establishes a magic machine that sparklezaps them out of uncomfortable situations so for the next 56 years writers have to keep coming up with reasons why it won't work this time

Look, Magic's story has never been the best, but I was really enjoying the story from Origins through Ixalan, then Dominaria was kind of rushed and then the whole Ravnica story arc was a hot mess. There's degrees, you know?
What are your thoughts on Krenko in the Murders at Karlov Manor webfiction?
Shit, I'm in it? Well, now I actually have to read this story.
I've been out of the story since War of the Spark ruined everything.

Alright, I read it. It's good, and I'm adorable in that meeting art, but after throwing down with Gideon and being a 3/3 it's kind of weird that this story treats me like a bad fighter.

But why isn't he green?!
Tumblr media
I don't know why it didn't occur to me when this card was new, but there's no way this is what Toggo looked like. Toggo was an Otarian goblin, and every single one of those we see has huge ears, a big nose, and green skin. This isn't even a Dominarian goblin. This might be a Gruul goblin, it might be a pre-retcon Zendikar goblin, or it might be one of those core set goblins with no particular home plane, but what it DOESN'T look like is the goblins on all the cards where Toggo's flavor text is from.
Pretty big blunder, if you ask me.
