After a rough month, I was finally able to get the opportunity to shoot with my friend and amazing photographer Michael Avalos. From the look on my face in the majority of these pictures, you can easily see that there’s been a few things on my mind but with this observation I also realized that this is what makes both fashion and photography so beautiful. I really appreciate how fashion and photography give you the ability to communicate and convey a message without saying a word. Using different hues and tones of color in addition to choosing a heavy metal graphic tee over a floral print dress shirt, can easily be the difference between welcoming and uninviting messages. With street fashion being a driving force in the majority of fashion labels today, I put together a few urban looks that will be sure to portray the rude, merciless feeling you have towards others when you know you are wearing the best outfit in the room but still captivate the attention of fashion connoisseurs and your peers.
Here’s a collection of my favorite shots and outfits from the shoot. Be sure to check out Upscale Closet Store for exclusive shoes and apparel, such as the Bape x Adidas Soccer Jersey or Nike Air Max 97’s featured in the pictures below. Also, check out VossWoodCo for the incredible bracelets and accessories to bring your whole outfit together, featured in the pictures below.

I personally stumbled into the fashion industry unintentionally. I always loved exclusive pieces or clothing garments that depicted a particular story/setting. The unexplainable happiness I felt every time I received a package from Karmaloop or Kazbah, is a joy I still remember till this day. In addition, being able to wear and introduce my classmates to all of these underground, up and coming brands that are california based gave me a sense of being connoisseur when It came to street wear. With years passing by I gradually mixed in Retro Jordan’s and high-end Nike’s into my fashion arsenal that currently consisted of Chuck Taylors and Vans (many thanks to Wiz Khalifa and The Pack, respectively) and being able to show off these kicks on social media made the discovery of new pieces rewarding as well as being intrigued to see some of my friends get their hands on limited hoodies or shoes. While I truly believed that my streetwear style was unmatched, when in reality I was barely even scratching the surface, I didn’t pay much attention to my formal/business attire until 2014 when I worked for US Bank. Having to meet business attire dress codes daily was pretty much a bore to me for the first six months that I worked at US Bank, until I realized that I could add my style and personality into my everyday work outfits and still meet the dress code standard. I paired funky socks with colorful ties and vests. V-neck sweater vests with pastel color dress shirts and slim fit slacks. Daily compliments from clients and customers assured me that I had the right idea and should continue to explore this fashion vision that I was envisioning. This led me to pursue a position at Nordstrom, Arden Fair. I will always be grateful for working for Nordstrom. I know sometimes I slander the company on twitter, but ultimately those negative words come from my frustrating experience in a particular department and not from the how the company is ran as a whole. I met incredibly talented and fashion forward individuals at this location, based in Sacramento, California, and established friendships that have stayed strong till today. Being that Nordstrom is a department store, I found an immense amount of joy walking into work on a daily basis just for the fact that I knew my close friends would piece together outfits that would push the envelope and ultimately make me want to go home and change my outfit so I could be the best dressed sales associate that day. We did not get award for this, but this is something we all kind of recognized. At this moment, this is where I truly dived into the fashion world. As a Women’s Designer Shoe Sales Associate, I had the privilege to see all of the new designer shoes from each designer brand before they actually hit our website or store shelves. I got to witness Alessandro Michele turn Gucci into the powerhouse brand It is today. Discovering the Different houses of Prada, as well as seeing Heidi Slimane triple the sales for Saint Laurent and make It into the highly talked about brand that we know It be. I made my first designer purchases as a sales associate for Nordstrom. Y-3 Qasa High’s, Comme De Garcon Chuck Taylor’s, Raf Simon Stan Smith Adidas, and Saint Laurent SL10H’s all made their way into my closet. I paired these designer sneakers with blazers, distressed denim, quilted sweaters or graphic tees and It was certainly heart warming to see the positive responses from these trendy ensembles. of course there were a few clients who didn’t appreciate the fashion forward or modern looks, but that just made me aware of the fact that being a fashion connoisseur requires confidence for the reason that some individuals aren’t going to understand your vision. My ride at Nordstrom ended in 2016, but the “need” to be around elevated pieces put me in the current position I currently hold. I am a sales associate for the Roseville Galleria Burberry and have been there for a little over a year now. Being able to provide elevated experiences for clients and also take part in the “hoarding” of clothes and shoes that I may only wear once or twice is an experience that I treasure daily. With the appointment of Riccardo Tisci as the new Creative Director for our brand, there is so much excitement to see in what direction the brand will as well as seeing how drastic the changes will be to some of our heritage pieces. I can truly say that I love all aspects of fashion. Seeing my clients getting excited about one of a kind pieces and discovering exclusive garments for myself are feelings that cannot be replaced and I wouldn’t trade It for anything. I hope you guys share a few of your stories with me about how you got into fashion or what your “holy grail” fashion piece is and follow me on this journey as we unravel the fashion industry together.

This past Tuesday, April 24th 2018, I had the privilege for my good friend Michael Avalos’ photoshoot. Though I was incredibly nervous, I felt the need to take this step. I have always envisioned styling my own photoshoots, styling other individuals, or even creating my own clothing brand and with this photoshoot, I was able to see the areas of fashion/styling I need to improve on. Enjoy a few of the photos from this photoshoot and feel free to share comments. Constructive criticism is always welcomed as well.
