I grow our own vegetables. Many hybrid and heirloom varieties are bred for flavor rather than for commercial appeal and travel. There are entire species on the allotment that you can’t easily buy in stores because of this - like salsify, a root vegetable that tastes of fish and shellfish. Our neighbours happily take it to make vegan latkes of alarming similarity to fishcakes. You cannot sell it in stores because - despite looking like a white parsnip - it turns brown when you pick it if you scrape/bruise/cut the white root in any way, or damage the delicate little hairs, for some reason, it BLEEDS RED and is very upsetting to look at.
There are whole classes of foods like this. Foods that just don’t ship well or look good on supermarket shelves. Forbidden fruits. Vegetables that bleed and taste like meat. Sorry about this

i am not joking we need to force teach cooking in schools. like. it is an essential thing for survival. do you know how easy it is to make things if you know even the bare bones shit about how cooking works. we need to teach teenagers how far you can take an onion and some other veggies it’’s sad that people grow up not knowing how to prepare literally anything. and i’m not talking about oh this home ed class taught me how to make chicken nuggets at home i’m talking about learning the balancing of sweetness and acidity and saltiness and bitterness and shit like that and techniques and oil temperatures and how meats cook. it needs to be taught because it’s literally not even that difficult and it matters so much

I think a spell template would be very helpful for us witches that have all of their ideas going around. But not just a spell template that included the materials and the important aspects of the ritual–but a spell template that also included the phase of the moon, the season, the relevant day, etc.,
Idk I may make one just because I haven’t seen one that gets this deep into the intricacies of spell work. But if you all know one, feel free to send it my way.

witch tip:
if you are holding on to anger towards someone (especially a person who is no longer in your life), sit in a quiet place, burn your favorite incense, and write that person a letter.  write down every single thought and emotion you feel towards that person. when you are done, burn the letter in a cauldron or fireproof bowl.  as you burn it, repeat out loud “you no longer have power in my life” until the letter has turned to ash.  collect the ash and use it to make black salt.

Beginner Witch Tips
Fight a God. Just go for it, dude. Why not. If you fail, just keep trying until you either win or the god gives up and moves on.
Learn to cast some protective wards. That god has friends, and they're going to come for you. You best be ready.
Curse your enemies. Do it. Destroy them all. Make them pay. Everyone's like all "Don't start out by cursing people! Boo!" and I'm like, those people should get cursed too.
Try to befriend a Crow. You'll probably fail, but crows are neat.n Why not give it a try?
Pace Yourself. Like sometimes take a break, read a book, and maybe have some tea. You can't just sprint your whole way -- you gotta rest too.
Curse your enemies again. They are your enemies and they deserve it.
Buy a neat hat. Seriously, no one tells you to get a neat hat -- but you should. Neat hats are neat.

Stop Learning Tarot Cards Like Flash Cards (You’re Better Than That)
One thing I’ve noticed as I’ve started teaching tarot cards to other people is that they have a tendency to think that every card has an individual meaning and it is their duty to memorize 78 complex sets of meanings before they can begin reading for others.
That’s simply not true.
It’s also incredibly inefficient and totally kneecaps you when you move on to learn another deck (and try memorizing ANOTHER 78 complex sets of meanings). Cards exist in relation to one another. Understanding those relationships lets you remember meanings quicker, better understand how cards in a spread might be connected, and give much smoother readings.
If you’re learning Tarot for the first time or looking to bush up, here’s my advice after reading cards for 10 years. Please, learn from my mistakes.  Tarot is a language
In the same way you learn letters and string them into words and then string words into sentences to communicate, tarot is a language you learn so your intuition can communicate more fully with you and others. And like a language, it’s often best to start with the phrases that you’ll use the most.
Practice: Go through your deck and pick out no more than 12 cards that are really calling to you and look up those meanings. Write them down if you’re up for it. Go through your deck and pick out no more than 12 cards that give you a feeling of unease and do the same. Notice any reoccurring symbols?
 Tarot is a story
How you understand that story may vary on your tradition, your experience level, your aims. Most standard Tarot decks follow the Fool’s Journey through the Major Arcana as he becomes more skilled and then more enlightened. A similar pattern can be seen in each of the suits. The Court Cards are less narrative in my opinion but a similar progression can be seen.
Practice: Take out each of the suits one at a time and lay them out in a row. Read the meanings of each card and see how the story progresses. Write down a summary. Do the same with each of other suits’ courts and the major arcana.
Tarot is a system
You aren’t fluent until you know the language well enough to speak smoothly and in most situations. Similarly, it takes understanding Tarot at a high level to give the best quality readings and read without a book. No card exists in isolation and just like when they show up in a reading, you must read them in relation to the rest of the spread - it helps a lot to know them in relation to the rest of the deck.
Tumblr media
Practice: Lay every card in your deck out like this (pardon my bad MSPaint job). Major Arcana up top and Court Cards off to the right and all the numbers lined up with the Fool and World left hanging. Pick one of the cards that resonated with you in the first exercise and look at how it relates to all the other cards in the deck. If it’s the 8 of Pentacles, what do the other 8′s look like and speak to? What do 8 (Strength) and 18 (the Moon) in the Major Arcana connect to it (if at all)? How does it relate to the rest of the story of the Pentacles?  Hope this helps! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Books on advancing and expanding your magickal knowledge!
This may be an odd looking list, but these are some of the books in my own experience and in my Witchy library that I thought helped me understand a few “advanced” concepts, practices, and new ideas. The list starts out with some basic, everyone-should-read kind of books and ends with a couple of books of the occult.
There are so many books on the market that this list doesn’t even make a dent to some other books that would be considered “advanced.” To me, advanced is more than what you can read from books – it’s a personal growth kind of thing; your own knowledge, practice, and dedication. For example, meditation. Meditation is practically an essential part of any spell work, ritual, or just everyday practice. It seems easy to learn and do, right? For the most part, yes. But what you CAN do IN meditation is the hard part. Trying to visualize and see a whole new life and world is an extremely hard task, and goes beyond just closing your eyes and clearing your mind. We go on these “meditation quests” in order to find our spirit guide or even try to discover our past lives. So advancing is more than what you read, it’s what you do.
My type of “advanced” magick has to do with spirit work, occultism, and evocation. But I won’t list those kinds of books because those aren’t exactly the practical, everyday Wiccan topics and practices that everyone shares. Instead, the first few books are some great books that belong in everyone’s Witchy library, and then it ends with a couple of a more Occult, “high magick” kind of thing.
 1. Divination for Beginners.
I’m aware this is supposed to be an “advanced” book list, and “beginner” is part of the title. But I believe divination is a tricky and sometimes difficult task, and just because you read some Wicca 101 books doesn’t make you the next big psychic or gypsy in town. To do any type of divination a true understanding of the art needs to be learned first. If you’re trying to read Tarot cards and all you’re doing is reading the definitions out of a book, then you’re not really doing divination – you’re just reading! The meanings of Tarot cards can be broad; each card does have a general definition, but it has to mean something to you as well. Anyway, this book covers a handfull of different types of divination and it’s one of the best resource books you can use.
2. The Second Circle.
It took me a couple of years before I actually decided if I really wanted this book. Before I buy any book, I always look at the table of contents and see what different topics the book will cover – if it covers too many topics that I’m already aware and knowledgable in, then why waste my money? And this was one of those books. However, one day I got the courage and just bought it. Tis isn’t a step-by-step guide “for the advancing Pagan,” but just a more detailed and almost new way of looking at things you may already be aware of.
3. Protection & Reversal Magick.
This is an excellent book and a must-have/read! Miller covers almost everything you need to know about protection for yourself, home, exorcisms, healing, counter-magick, and more. Miller writes about how you can recognize attack and offers guides to daily practices to protect yourself. Topics also include talismans, charms, and amulets. Spirit guardians and ways to connect with them.
 4. Buckland’s Book of Spirit Communications.
Don’t expect to be talking with the dead after reading this book. Though, just like his “Complete Book of Witchcraft” book, this book follows that lesson-type format where each chapter is a “lesson.” The book isn’t telling you HOW to communicate with spirits, but ways you CAN communicate with spirits. It’s a good reference book about the histories of mediumship, spiritualism, channeling, divination, and ways people use to communicate with spirits (talking boards, automatic writing, trance work, etc.). It’s a good book to own if you want to learn the different ways there are to communicate with spirits and a very brief “how-to” guide on doing so.
5. The Golden Dawn.
Now here comes the big boys! We’ve all heard, or at least read some sort of reference to the Golden Dawn. This book is definitely NOT a beginner’s book and would most definitely fall into the “advanced” category of magick. If you’ve never read anything of the Golden Dawn, then you’d be completely lost with this book, because it lacks fundamental instructions and ideas and it would assume you knew some knowledge first. If anything, reading Modern Magick by Don Kraig first would be a great start into the world of the Golden Dawn. Otherwise, this is a must-have for any serious magician.
 6. Three Books of Occult Philosophy.
Probably one of the hardest reads I’ve ever had to read! (mostly because it’s a HUGE book!). However, this is definitely another book that falls into the “advanced” category. To very many, this is one of the best books on Western Occultism. This book covers so many and broad topics of Occultism. Any Occultist knows the importance of Agrippa’s work, and this is no exception. This isn’t an easy how-to or instructional book. Information is slightly scattered throughout the three books, which is some ways is a good way to learn and absorb information. Anyone whose interested and serious about Occultism, this is a must-have!

Hello, im kinda still new to astrology and I don’t understand posts like “ruler of the 11th in 5th house” posts. was hoping you could explain it? Is it like the ruler of the 11th house, as in the 11th sign from your rising and then where it’s placed in your chart or? I’m confused.
Hey!
To find the ruler of any house in your chart, you need to
1) check what is the sign on its cusp - which means with what sign does it start. I use whole signs system most frequently so yeah, the 11th house would start with the 11th sign from your rising; f.e. if you're Aries rising, your 11th house will start with Aquarius. If you use Placidus, it's a bit more tricky but just check the house cusps with any natal chart calculator, f.e. astro-charts.
2) now that you've found the sign at the cusp of the house, check which planet rules this sign. Here is a list of rulerships for your convenience:
Aries - ruler is Mars;
Taurus - ruler is Venus;
Gemini - ruler is Mercury;
Cancer - ruler is Moon;
Leo - ruler is Sun;
Virgo - ruler is Mercury;
Libra - ruler is Venus;
Scorpio - ruler is usually considered Pluto but you can check out Mars as well;
Sagittarius - ruler is Jupiter;
Capricorn - ruler is Saturn;
Aquarius - rulers are Uranus and Saturn, check which one is more prominent in your chart, like has more aspects, is in an angular house, etc. ..or just look at both;
Pisces - ruler is usually considered Neptune but you can check out Jupiter as well.
3) now check in which house is this planet placed. Voilà! You found where the ruler is!
Rulers and their house/sign placement, as well as aspects, are said to add more nuance to your natal chart and you can use them to understand yourself better.

New Moon in Scorpio
🌙 4th October 2021
Another New Moon is upon us, this month in the sign of Scorpio. As you may know, Scorpio rules over rebirths and transformation. Which makes this New Moon a great opportunity to invite change into our own lives.
The aspect of change is also strengthen by the Moon being opposite Uranus. Uranus is the most unpredictable and erratic planet of them all, so many of us might be experiencing changes that you can hardly prepare for, but the goal here is to just roll with it and make the best you can out of any situation.
If you feel called to start a new project or try something new, go for it! It could definitely bring you abundance and positive opportunities in the future. The main focus with Uranus being involved is to be adaptable in any situation. That is what will bring you success.
This Scorpio New Moon could definitely become quite disruptive and uncomfortable to some. The energy seems unpredictable, but as long as you clearly set your intentions and work with the Universe, you should be just fine:)
✨What to focus on:
Starting a new cycle/hobby/project
Deepening your spiritual connection and gifts
Embracing new beginnings into your life
Leaving the old ways
Not fighting any necessary changes
