an unexpected benefit of the boop meter is i think its another tool that puts the idea of a billion into perspective. like think about how long its been running, how many people are using it, how fast the lower digits are turning over, and even so we only just got to 100,000,000

if there's one thing we can learn from this booping experience it's that we need to give people notes and interact with them for tumblr to be fun and thriving

got a message out of the blue about that 'why Batman doesn't kill' explanation I left on someone else's post like two years ago but it was just "wait is Alfred dead????" and I sort of forgot that most of tumblr Batfam fandom doesn't actually read comics and so largely has no idea that Bane killed Alfred back in 2018 and he's stayed dead since

Someone being creepy towards Obi-wan and Anakin and Ahsoka immediately being super protective of him ("you're creepy, go away")
Coruscant Nights
(warnings- unwelcome advances)
A heavy arm falls on his shoulders and pulls Obi-wan closer to the big man attached to it. “Hey baby,” he says.
Obi-wan scowls and twists out of the man’s grip. “Not interested,” Obi-wan says.
“Come on,” the man says. “I can show you a good time.”
“Still not interested.” Obi-wan shifts so that the lightsaber hanging on his belt is visible. It’s usually more than enough to discourage any potential suitors, most of whom are either intimidated by Jedi or think Jedi are celibate. Regardless, it usually works in his favor.
“I like a man with a sword,” the man says and leans into Obi-wan’s space again.
Obi-wan sets his drink on the bar and tosses the bartender a few credits. He can find a drink somewhere else. He attempts to stand up, but the man presses against him, pinning him against the bar. “I’ve always wanted to fuck a Jedi,” he whispers in Obi-wan’s ear.
Obi-wan considers throwing the man across the room, but he doesn’t want to draw attention to himself. He’s had a rough day and just wanted to be left alone. The moment he announces his presence, he’ll have to return to the Temple to avoid the crowd of supporters and adversaries who all want to tell him exactly what they think of the war and the Jedi.
“Leave me alone,” Obi-wan says, putting a bit of Force suggestion into his voice. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to have an effect.
“Come on, baby,” he says. “Don’t be such a bitch.”
Obi-wan sighs. Looks like its time to make a scene and ruin his night. It wouldn’t be the first time and he doubts it will be the last.
Before Obi-wan push the man away, a lightsaber ignites. “Get out of here,” Anakin says. Ahsoka stands behind him, her arms folded over her chest.
The man pales and backs away from Obi-wan. “Jeez,” the man says, then rearranges his features into something resembling indifference. “You’re not even worth my time.”
“Let’s get out of here,” Ahsoka says, pointedly glancing around the bar at the staring patrons. Someone will approach soon and then they’ll never be able to get out of here. Anakin extinguishes his saber and leads them out of the bar and into a nearby alley.
“You okay?” Anakin asks.
“I’m alright,” Obi-wan says. “Though I could have handled that myself.”
“Yeah, but you know I like scaring off creeps, especially those bastards that can’t take no for answer.”
“Creeps like that are the worst,” Ahsoka says. “Except I always like punch them across the room. It’s way more satisfying.”
“Not very Jedi-like though,” Obi-wan says.
“They have to learn some time,” Ahsoka says. “I’m just teaching them to think twice before doing it again.”
“True enough.”

I don't see people talking about this so today is the 110th anniversary of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, in where the factory owners locked working women and girls inside to "eliminate the risk of theft" (in reality it was too keep them from taking breaks), which resulted in the gruesome deaths of 123 mostly immigrant women and girls and 23 men, many of whom jumped to their deaths from the ninth floor either in a panicked attempt to escape or in order to die quickly. There were reports that some of the workers were on fire already as they jumped.
The eighth floor of the building was able to telephone the tenth floor to warn them about the fire, but the factory on the ninth floor where these women and girls labored had no such communication and such warning.
The factory owners were criminally charged with manslaughter for actions that contributed to the mass deaths but acquitted. However, this tragedy led to mass sympathy to the labor movement, and unions spurred on safety regulations that passed in New York state and eventually the entire country, and activists were able to reduce child labor in the process.
This tragedy is a reminder that has been forgotten in the 110 years since: every safety regulation-- every scrap of paperwork contributing to the hundreds of pages of red tape people like to complain about--every word of it was written in the blood of a laborer.
