saw I trap: hey girlie! this guy is dead. but he has a key in his tummy!! could you get it out to save yourself??
saw traps II and up: preform brain surgery on yourself then eat your own arm then watch your wife be brutally murdered then melt all your skin off with this acid then kill 7 innocent bystanders. you have 45 seconds. now you'll think twice about taking antidepressants.

I was staring at a picture of Adam's corpse in Saw 3D (normal behavior for me) and noticed that his head is propped up, but in Saw 2 he was hunched over.
Which means Lawrence probably repositioned him while he was removing his chain. Making him look more "alive." His positioning almost reminds me of the scene where he's looking at Larry's wallet.

It confuses me when people are like "Adam isn't all soft and nice like the fandom makes him out to be he's MEAN" because like, yeah the fandom can uwu softboy him a little too much at times but I actually think a lot of people don't portray him as nice or soft ENOUGH. Like, every time we see him outside of the bathroom in the script or deleted scenes he's being nice. To a stray cat, to Amanda. We know he has problems with anger but that doesn't make someone mean or even inherently aggressive. He gives milk to cats and he wanted to be a vet and he told Amanda her hair was nice and tried to get people to come to his friend's show. He wanted to repair his relationship with his family and saved the voicemails from his mom. He has flaws and rough edges and he lies (badly) but I think being kind is an important part of Adam's character that often gets overlooked.

nobody talks about adam stanheight haunting the narrative.
we can talk about his visible corpse in the films, sure, like an omniscient sentinel watching those after him meet the same fate.
or we can talk about lawrence gordon haunted by the bathroom. he might not have killed hoffman if he hadn't been given access to the bathroom one last time. lawrence could very well have stayed out of it, but he chose to go back to where it all started to face his ghost one last time.
every choice lawrence makes in becoming the next jigsaw killer is because of the memory of adam.
hoffman could've very well have been shot and dumped in a ditch and nobody would be wiser. but lawrence made his choice in the memory and name of adam, to return to that bathroom and make the same choices kramer made.
when he shackled mark, do you think adam's body was looking at lawrence? do you think dr. gordon noticed? do you think he looked away?

As much as I enjoy a good Saw binge watch, I do in fact prefer the first Saw movie as a standalone. The ending, especially, is so much more impactful to me if you leave the film stuck, as Adam is, in the darkness, the question of his survival hanging in the air. We start the film with Adam and end on him; his game isn’t fair because life fucking isn’t. I love movies that make you feel trapped, claustrophobic, and Saw 2004 does that so well, I almost wish they hadn’t made any more movies.
