i just got into alien stage a few hours ago, i'm unsure of some parts of the lore (i really need to watch the mvs a second time) what exactly is the dog alien incident? sorry for the sudden ask!

The Dog Alien Incident (that's what I call it anyway) is referring to one of the flashbacks in the Round 3 MV!

(This is my interpretation of the events btw, so take that as you will <3)

In this flashback, we see Ivan as a child in Anakt Garden. We see him notice Till, who's following a flower crown flying in the wind, into a dark tunnel of some sort.

Seemingly intrigued, Ivan follows suit.

Ivan finds Till, along with a girl, Mizi. Standing in front of them is a large, dog-alien of some sort. Till is on the ground, and has seemingly been attacked by the alien, while Mizi watches on in horror.

Ivan does not interfere, and observes from the shadows. He watches as Till, rather than stay down, begins to get up, which intrigues Ivan even more.

While watching Till, he is reminded of something: The shooting stars/meteors he saw when he was younger, as he was being held over the edge of a building by an alien, before he was auctioned off and sent to Anakt Garden.

He is reminded of their unrestrained freedom, and begins to see that in Till. Ivan admires and is inspired by Till's rebellious and fiery nature.

And so, Ivan's adoration (and obsession) of Till began (assuming they hadn't interacted before then, meaningfully at least).

Till fell in love with the kindness Mizi showed him, she was his comfort and hope. But when Till wasn't conscious, Ivan showed this tenderness and love that Till was so desperate to have. If Ivan acted on his feelings, do you think Till would be indifferent?

Dear god, you aren't making this easy for me-

TLDR; Ivan was already kind and acted on his feelings, and Till wasn't indifferent then. If he were affectionate consistently, Till wouldn't be indifferent and would maybe find a friend in Ivan.

Okay, Mizi was kind and bright and everything that Ivan seemingly failed to be on the outside. The kind of person that Mizi naturally was is what gave Till hope and solace. He found comfort in her cause she was the opposite of what his abusers were.

Mizi and Ivan are inherently different and Ivan can't be Mizi nor can he give off yhe same energy Mizi does.

But you are right, Ivan showed kindness and love and was protective over Till whenever Till was unconcious or not looking.

But I think we all forget, Ivan was definately and no doubt openly kind and loving to Till when he LITERALLY FREED HIM AND HELD HIS HAND WITH LAUGHTER AND GLEE AS THEY RAN FROM THE GARDEN-

Ivan was kind to Till and showed what he would do for him and what he could give and acted on his feelings and Till still chose Mizi.

It was a matter of who Till had first clocked in his little babyboy brain as his saviour and the person was Mizi.

Now here's the kicker; Till was never indifferent when Ivan was kind.

When Till ran back, he visibly showed regret and hesitance.

But Ivan never saw that and just assumed his kindness didn't matter to Till and that Till was indifferent to it.

If Ivan showed Till that kindness and temderness and love consistently, I do think that Till would find some sort of comfort in Ivan.

Not in the same way he found comfort in Mizi, which was borderline worship and definately love.

Ivan would've just been a friend, and until they escaped in this hypothetical, he would remain as such. Maybe even become his best friend.

My take on the round 6 (I will kill myself)

Someone pointed out that when Till was a baby he was looking intently at Ivan who had the operation in his eye making it have a red pupil

Then we go back to Black Sorrow's video and you see that Till ran by Ivan because he was going after a crown of RED flowers, which are THE EXACT SAME as the ones Ivan walked on before they started fighting :

The flower could be seen as Ivan, mostly because the red is similar to his pupil

Ivan tends to mock it/destroy it to get Till's attention while Till is seemingly careful around it and running after it (which could represent Ivan's self destructive personality and Till's previous focus on him)

I think the true reason Till looks away from Ivan all this time is because he found comfort by looking at him when he was at a low point in his life (he was being sold, experimented on, beat up, etc....) and yet, the person with such singular eyes was the one who ended up seeking his attention to the point of resorting to violence to get Till staring at him while fighting

Till wanted someone who would see him as an equal and respect him as a human being rather than some sort of animal

That's why he fell for Mizi, because of her gentle nature and bright personality who cares for others and acts delicately with everyone else

He was afraid to fall for someone who wouldn't bring the best out of himself

On the other side we've got Ivan, who clearly can't express his emotions correctly whether it be with his words or with his actions so he decided to either be affectionate with Till in front of everyone bc they would take his actions as jokes or use unconventional ways to be on Till's mind when they were together

Ivan is a character who was favored by monsters, he had a lot of expectations to meet and was treated as a prodigy, he was dehumanized because of his talent, and that's why he took a liking to Till : Till looked at him with admiration and interest but not for his talent, it was for him as a person

It was a sincere look of adoration

Now talking about looks, they say that when people look at something or someone they love their pupils dilate and guess what

Notice how the second he started to look at Ivan his eyes started to shine for the first time in the whole round

Despite everything, he was still that little boy looking at the thing he considered most beautiful in the whole world

Another interesting thing is the way Ivan went from kissing Till, to choke him

The kiss can be two things : him stepping up to kiss him before one of them dies and a way to stop the round by preventing the two of them from singing, making the result stop early and making sure Till would win

However the last kiss wasnt part of the plan

Ivan looked at the score to make sure everything went according to the plan and AFTER he got confirmation that Till was winning, he allowed himself an oh so small peck on Till's lips

So light that their lips barely touched at all, and yet after the long kissing scene this was the kiss with the bigbest impact : he allowed himself to love him a little more than supposed

The choking was to make SURE he would be targeted and killed instead of Till so that he could win, but it was possibly also a way for him to make sure Till wouldn't feel culpability after he dies since Ivan "attacked" him in the first place

But even then if you look at Till's neck afterwards there are no handprints around it, which means that he made sure not to press too hard, just enough to be targeted by the security

Ivan loves Till. There's no denying it. He cares for him when no one can witness his affection not even the one he loves. He never expected to have his feelings requited, he just wanted to be acknowledged and looked at, because whenever Till looks at Ivan, this is when Ivan feels the most elated

Till loves Ivan. And while he repressed his feelings by ignoring him, ONE look at him was enough to prove his infatuation

They mean a lot to each other but they both sucked at saying things

This is not just doomed yaoi, this is miscommunication doomed yaoi 💔💔💔

uhmm i haven't been seeing a lot of discussion about till aside from his relationships with other competitors and i think it's something that must be addressed because i think among the competitors he's the anomaly.

unlike his peers, Till is nothing special. Ivan is beautiful and talented and so is Mizi, and they're both treated as valuable things by their alien owners because of it. You can see this in the way Ivan's constantly surrounded by attention and food and Mizi's pampered lifestyle pre-alien stage.

but then you get to Till and he's literally just strapped to a medical table. Mizi and Ivan's "foster family" treat them with some degree of humanity, even if it's in the way that humans now treat their beloved house cats. If that's the case, Till's treated as a mildly interesting lab rat.

His owners go lengths to further dehumanize him, and you can see that from the way he's so often muzzled when no one else is. They also quite literally brand him !!

This type of dehumanization in my opinion is also something that contributes to Till's aggressive behavior, because he is constantly in the circumstances that force him to do so.

Till is neither too attractive or too talented at singing, and I'm pretty sure he knows this --- that's why he relied so heavily on the element of gruesome surprise during his first round.

It's also worth mentioning that his unhealthy attachment to the idea of Mizi as some kind of saving grace also reflects on his own perception of himself, as some sinner in need of saving. Whenever he imagines Mizi in the Round 6 video, he is someone tainted in the colors of his captors (red) and sweaty, whereas Mizi is bright and glowing.

He didn't expect to live past round 6, I think that's made pretty clear. His expression isn't one of someone who expects to live (especially when Mizi is now either dead or gone). His expression is of someone defeated.

Another thing about Till is that he felt alone. Ivan loves him, we knows this, but Till doesn't. The few instances we see through Ivan's eyes, his kindness towards Till is either from somewhere Till can't see or when he's unconscious. The only time we see them interact where Till is aware of what's going on is when they're fighting as kids, and their one escape attempt.

As far as I know, Till has nothing to go off of in recent times. The only time that he's touched is by alien captors and scientists, both who see him as less than human. It's easy to be beat down and dehumanized when there is no one around you to humanize you.

No other competitor, from what we've seen, is treated as awfully as Till is treated. His idealization of Mizi stems from delusion, and there is no indication to him now that his ex-best friend Ivan still gives a shit about him.

That changes after the 6th Round though, and Till is so well set up to be a character who gets his entire worldview shattered, with Ivan's final show of affection and Mizi's disconnect from the one he has in his head (symbolized by her cut hair).

Till, a hotheaded human who is nothing special but lived on until the final round through the idealization of one competitor and the sacrifice of another ... the silliest of all time

I think it's means lust and the desire of Ivan to control Till because of his one sided love to him.

Ivan’s really got me curious because he keeps coming for Till’s neck recently

So I’m wondering if this is a kind a nudge at how he desires to free Till again like he did before

or if he wants to restrain Till, and keep him within reach because he’s constantly going to far for Ivan’s comfort

or if this is a literal hint for a choking scene in round 6 (unlikely but I can’t stop thinking about the possibility)

because that’s what till wants right? he isn’t going to win against luka like this. he wants to die and no matter what ivan does, it’s not going to change that. so why not kill him?

that way they can die together.

wouldn’t that be wonderful?

ivan has always had a great potential for darkness and he holds it back most of the time, rarely ever letting it come to the surface. it wouldn’t be far off to assume this was one of those moments—where he was seriously contemplating throwing away his decision to sacrifice himself alone.

but then he gets shot in the chest and the pain snaps him out of it. he remembers why he’s doing this. he remembers his desire to save till, foolish as it may be. the light reappears in his eyes and it’s ivan in love again. it’s ivan swelling with pure love.

it’s ivan doing the one thing he’s never been able to do:

Round 6 Reaction/Analysis

I woke up to twitter analysis saying that Till never even looked at Ivan until his final moments. And I made pre round 6 fanart titled "look at me." Couldn't manifest it. He never looked at him in the end,,,

First detail I noticed was that are the mics clear because both Ivan and Till are being vulnerable? They have nothing to hide anymore, so they'll show the world their whole being.

Anyways, to my main point,,

My interpretation of the ending was that Ivan was really trying to "cure" Till.

Till opens up with wanting to feel pain, to feel hurt.

"Please, leave me scars"

"Please, hurt me so that not a single drop of me remains"

Which, I realize he's talking to Mizi, but it's a cry for "help" either way.

Ivan's part goes:

"Notice my pain and mend me right now"

Again, he's talking about himself, but I think it could apply to what he does to Till.

So they kiss.

And, I've seen a lot of other people already say this, but I also do feel the kiss was not only meant to be for Ivan to selfishly show his love for Till.

Like bro don't go nonconsensually kissing your crush, what are you doing!?

When the scores came out, Ivan was much lower than Till than I expected. I thought it'd be a Mizi-Sua situation where the scores were close, but Mizi barely edged it out.

But Till almost had 20 points over Ivan.

And I know it's because Till is a rising star. And his new image change would really garner the attention of everyone. But it's not like Ivan is a nobody either. I didn't expect the scores to be so different.

I do think its because Ivan kissed Till. As a final nail in the coffin that guarantees his loss.

Alien Stage is commentary on the idol industry. One of the most prevalent issues in the idol industry is the romantic lives of the idols. Idols are not supposed to be in relationships, at least not outwardly. Their whole image is for the fans. Nothing they do should ruin that public image as an idol.

Much less in a in a queer relationship.

Now I don't believe the universe of Alien Stage cares about LGBTQ+ issues because there's bigger issues surrounding their human pets. But I think that it is an issue that Vivinos is trying to address because they certainly never shy away from queer issues in their other works.

And I feel the idea that idols/pets should not be swayed by their romantic emotions is still prevalent in their society.

So for the audience to see Ivan kiss Till, in one of the most outrageous and public displays possible, further pushes the votes in Till's favor.

And yeah, I also do believe that he kissed Till for him to finally look at him, but I also feel that it was a self-sacrifice too.

And then Ivan violently chokes Till.

Possibly, as another way to give Till votes. Since when Mizi started punching Luka, the audience was outraged at her actions.

Violence is definitely frowned upon on the stage.

More on the choking scene,,

I also saw some people saying that it's because Ivan wanted Till to die with him, which may be part of it. I don't think everything Ivan did was completely selfless.

But

Till accepts it. Earlier when he is at the bar (party? venue? the private show either way), he fights the alien who tries to punch him.

He did show him Mizi's missing image, so he is enraged in this moment, but he does have fight left in him even then.

He doesn't resist when Ivan chokes him just closes his eyes and awaits death. Perhaps if Mizi was already dead, he can just join her in the afterlife since he had no way of knowing she was still alive.

In this way, Ivan is his savior. The one who is finally freeing him from all this pain he felt after losing Mizi. This is his "cure."

And for Ivan, he sorta wants to be a savior to Till. He has freed him on multiple accounts from his shackles. Even helping him run away with him, so they can experience freedom together.

They both get what they want, but,,

Ivan lets go of Till and Till, with an expression that feels like shock, finally looks at Ivan.

Killing him would not give him the freedom that Till needs

that Ivan wants Till to have.

So, like the countless times Till has been chained around his neck, Ivan gives him his chains:

hurting him like he desires.

A scar around his neck.

(Where the scar from his name is)

And mending him,

by taking away the final chain that Ivan could release from Till.

His "cure."

It felt like his final desire was to get Till to snap out of it, to realize that he needs to find true freedom, to not get apathetic at the situation, to keep on going and to live.

He really, truly loves Till even if Till does and never will understand it.

Also final thoughts, is it not strange that Ivan is able to release Till's bindings so easily?

No one else is shown releasing the bindings, so maybe it is just as easy as a press of the button. Yet, I don't feel like it's just poorly designed if that's the case. Because you literally have a person like Ivan releasing a dangerous human like Till. Shouldn't a cautious society like the world of Alien Stage made sure it wouldn't be super easy to get out of.

If there is more to it, I wonder if that'll be a plot point later on. With Ivan leaving behind the secret to getting out of the bindings for Till. So, when a character maybe Till or even Hyuna or Mizi have been captured, they're able to escape since they know how to remove them.

Maybe, I'm just being delulu

And final final thoughts, the kiss was great and definitely made me almost scream. But the way Ivan nuzzled Till has got me acting up.

Like, it's just so soft and sweet and not a big show of it like when Ivan kisses Till on stage.

It feels so intimate, so personal, so full of love.

I just, I just can't. They'll be the death of me.

The most tragic part of Round 6

For me it's not the IvanTill moments, it's the implication of the post credit scene.

Ivan and Till could have been rescued

Whether or not you ship IvanTill, or maybe always thought Ivan is a total creep. There could have been more to their story.

Ivan's behaviour towards Till could border on uncomfortable sometimes but I also LOVE Ivan because I think it's a very complex interpretation of a character who never learned to process their emotions healthily when stuck in a life of single mindedly striving to achieve one goal.

That's why the fact they might have been able to escape is SO. FUCKING. DEVASTATING.

It's not just "IvanTill could have had time to be free together and in love" but they would have had time and freedom period. They both have an unhealthy unrequited love with another character. Love that maybe only stemmed from being trapped together since childhood, the only things they are taught being to entertain or die.

It could be argued their feelings aren't just a result of their situation, that they would stay the same even if they had the time to live outside of performing on the alien stage, but we will never know.

Maybe Till would realize that Mizi won't love him, maybe Till would realize that Ivan was the one who always wanted to save him, maybe he would finally look at Ivan the way Ivan wanted since the beginning.

Or maybe they wouldn't. Maybe they would be friends, maybe they would continue to stick to their unrequited obsessions and they would never talk to each other again, but at least they would be free to live their own lives.

But Mizi and Hyuna didn't make it in time, so we'll never know.
