Killing Eve 1x03
Wow. The ending of this episode was expected from the moment at the train station, but it was still really sad. And this episode was a real game changer, things are personal now! Reaction and thoughts under the cut.
The opening scene was beautifully shot with Eve in a trance describing Villanelle as the camera slowly turned around her, and I was totally enraptured, until the reveal of her surroundings and then it just became a lol moment. “She had a lost look in her eye that was both direct and also chilling. She’s totally focused… yet almost entirely inaccessible.” “So, is that like a square face or an oval face?” haha then Bill’s face, and Eve’s face in response. I’m also impressed by how much she got from a single interaction of like 30 seconds.
So now we get to see Berlin. I love how we travel all over Europe with Villanelle! And we’re at a kink clinic lol, I love this. So it was obvious the cover nurse would be Villanelle but how great was that shot of her turning around all “Take off your clothes” ! And her voice got so hot when she said “Hot Medica” and “Nobody gets special treatment” ! That close up of the man dying was creepy though and now we’ve officially established that she likes to look into her victims’ eyes when they die. I also love the little details that show she really doesn’t care about them like when she lets go of the man’s arm and it just falls back with a thump. So disrespectful to the dead!
Back with Eve and her husband, they have a hilarious conversation about their chicken’s egg and her new job. “I don’t think we should eat it.” “Risky?” “Yeah” “Is the job risky?” “Oh, it’s about as dangerous as eating that egg would be.” “You just said the egg was too risky!” “No, no. Wait, no. I mean, the worst that could happen is I would get the shits at my computer because of a bad sandwich.” Lmao! They have such a great dynamic.
Eve’s team finds out about 2 new murders. Carla’s induced asthma attack from last episode “Let me guess. You think it was a woman.” “Well, she was found in the ladies. So, yes, she’s going on the wall, you ass.” Hahaha. And now Zhang Wu. Chinese colonel visiting Berlin. Hacker for the Chinese military. So, so far most of the murders have been political. And Villanelle now left another witness behind her (first the mafia boy from episode 1 and now the receptionist who signed her in as a temp). This leaves me to wonder if she has stopped being careful recently or if there are rumors all over Europe of a fit woman in her mid-20’s linked to all sorts of murders. After all, maybe Konstantin was only angry about Katsia still being alive in episode 1 because she actually witnessed the murder whereas with the others there are only suspicions? Or was the boy a one-off and now she doesn’t care anymore because she knows Eve has seen her and can identify her?
“Why are you all being weird?” Lol! And then they’re all looking at Carolyn. “She said her name was Eve Polastri.” Wow, omg, etc. That was a really smart way for Villanelle to get their attention. So, Eve is understandably freaked out but wants to keep investigating. What I don’t understand is why she isn’t asking more questions about how Villanelle could have learned her name. Like who knows about their investigation? Is it possible they could have been hacked? Maybe it happened and we just aren’t privy to it. Maybe she thinks this has nothing to do with the taskforce and only with their meeting in the bathroom.
“Bill, you’re coming with me.” Bill: “Take Elena.” Elena: “Yes, take Elena!” hahaha I love her. Kenny: “I don’t think Elena should go.” Nobody asked you, Kenny!
“It’s one trip, Bill. Huh? One trip.” “Daddy’s going to die, isn’t he?” damn, Bill! At this point I just thought it was a disturbingly funny line. British humor or something. I should have known they were really going to go there! Also, Bill looks really good for 60. “Oh, come on. It’s not like she’s gonna still be there.” LOL. Oh, Eve.
And guess who’s stalking her own crime scene like they say a killer would? That’s right. Villanelle’s there wearing great camouflage outfits. Lol. And in one of the greatest TV scenes of all time, she’s also picked up an American tourist. “Take your hair down.” “You are sooo sexy.” (side note: I love how positively they portray middle-aged women on this show, making them desirable, same for curly hair) “No, no. Keep your clothes on, your bag on your shoulder.” “I’m going to call you Eve, okay?” OMG WHAT? LOL “Why?” “It’s just a little biblical fantasy thing” HAHAHA “Do you want me to call you Adam?” at this I just D-I-E-D. “No, no. That’s okay” hahahahahaa and they kiss and it’s super hot omg “Now I am going to hide and you are going to find me.” LMAO and that tourist is just like. What just happened? The whole scene was so unexpected and so delightful.
And then of course Villanelle steals Eve’s suitcase. Is she also eating Eve’s risky egg sandwich? Aww she’s so disappointed by her boring clothes. The scarf is nice though. “Poor baby” ha! Is that something she’s heard being said before? And was that some sort of cream? And of course Konstantin is there! I love them so much “I thought I could smell something.” “Sorry, are you having a nice little holiday here?” “Are you?” Lmao. “I booked you in for one night.” “So? I like Berlin. Have you been before?” “Yes” “Have you seen the Wall?” “Yes” “The Jewish Museum?” “Listen” “That is massively poignant.” Hahaha
“I have a job for you. Off the record. The woman, Eve Polasi” “Polastri” “She’s here. She’s investigating your work.” “Did you see where I did it?” “Very cute, yes.” So this means that she receives general intel along with her target’s identity and then she can choose how/where/when to kill them. Although looking back I guess it was established in episode 1 when he congratulated her on no CCTV at the crime scene.
“Why are you so worried?” “Aren’t you?” “No! I don’t even think about her.” “Why does she think it was you?” she shrugs. But she’s such a bad liar?! It’s like she’s not even trying to convince him. “I want you to watch her. I need to know who she meets. This is me asking you. Not them, okay?” And watch her, she does! She stalks her across town and in a clothing store and even picks out a belt for her lol. She sure has an eye for style.
Meanwhile, Eve has investigated the Chinese’s death. Poisoned with carbon monoxide. And his balls were clamped. Of all the tool Villanelle had at her disposal, she kept it quite clean. I was expecting something way sinister when we got that first shot of her at the clinic scrubbing the instruments clean. They meet with the Chinese attaché on the case, Jin Yeong, who’s a big deal within Chinese Intelligence. He gives them intel on the dead Chinese. “Internally, the guy was known as ‘Fat Panda’, which is a little racist. Fattist, come to that. But I hear that he started it so, you know, we went along. “ lol! This was a nice surprise to hear a seemingly traditional older Asian man mentioning racism and fattism. But that’s pretty much the only positive thing I can say about him.
“What’s the Chinese story?” “The new autopsy concludes that he took the initiative himself when the covering nurse left the room, working the forceps to experience a shock of pain that triggered a cardiac arrest. Not my thing.” “Not his, either.” “Why? He’s a masochist.” “Look, kinks are totally specific. It’s not just about pain, it’s a contract. It’s about someone else taking control. A ‘spankophile’ wouldn’t just spank himself, would he?” lol Eve’s face. But I love how respectful they are in their portrayal of kinks and that they keep calling the workers nurses.
Later on in Eve’s hotel room. “Have you ever fancied me?” “Uh… no.” “You me?” “No.” I love it! Male/female friendships are real! “So, tell me what happened in Charlottenburg.” “Everything happened.” “Wait. Men?” “Yes.” “Were you gay?” Well, I didn’t like that line, they could have used something more appropriate like ‘Are you bi?’… “Uh… I just fall in love with whoever I fall in love with.” “Does Keiko know?” “She’s got her own thing going on.” Incredible! “Wait, so you guys… “ “Well… I really wanted a baby, and she was rich and ovulating, so…” “But you guys are like the perfect couple.” “We’re a good team.” I loooved this exchange. Way to go, Bill! I’m all about convenient arrangements and friends raising kids together. Although I’m not sure how I feel about the show bringing up personal stories about him this whole episode to make him more likable and make us feel more for him knowing he’d die. And maybe also making Eve a little less guilty about the whole Keiko raising a baby by herself since she ‘has her own thing going on’.
“Do you want to hear something really freaky?” “What?” “The conditions have to be just right, but sometimes… we have sex.” Hahaha “You ever been interested in women?“ “Uh, no. Not like that.” “Not even ones with delicate features, sort of catlike eyes that are completely inaccessible?” LOL I love how he calls her out on her earlier description. “That is horribly unprofessional! Do you want to hear about her tits?” lmao
So before this scene Eve skyped with Niko. She’s so taken with her new job that she kind of neglects him and forgot about their plan to host their friends. It’s kinda sad. Hopefully they can get past this. But also, can I just say that I loved their earlier exchange : “You’re so strong.” “All that math.” Hahaha.
And Villanelle listens in to the skype call! Did she hack into Eve’s computer? And how did she know what computer to hack into since Eve is in a hotel? (I obviously know nothing about hacking lol) Or is it their home computer in London that’s tapped into? How many skills does Villanelle have? And she rewound the tape when Bill arrived… to know his knocking pattern? So she could maybe visit Eve later? And could she hear the rest of the conversation when the skype call was finished/the laptop was shut down?
Then at the train station, Villanelle is there!!! Wearing a suit. Lol. Dressing up for Eve! That silly cap she wore all day wasn’t going to do. And omggg Bill stops her from getting on the train. What are you doing, Bill??? So, was Villanelle planning to follow Eve to the restaurant and just watch her like Konstantin instructed? Also, I would be much more pissed if I were her, and had my arm grabbed like that. “Excuse me. May I ask where you got that scarf?” “Oh, my mother has a shop in Munich. I can give you the address if you like?” Now, that was an excellent lie! I envy her ability to improvise. And she speaks German! Another language to add to the list. So she leaves the train station. And Bill fucking follows her. And so horribly at that. She leads him to a club and of course the bouncer lets Villanelle go in without waiting… she hot. Bill… not so much lol.
So Eve meets with Jin. I did not find him funny. And unfortunately, I have this nagging feeling that he’ll be back on the show sometime. But for the moment, I’m glad Eve was equally annoyed with him and I loved that she did not play his game ‘however gross’ to get information which is what Carolyn would have wanted (although thankfully Eve missed that instruction due to her earphones falling out lol such a great detail). “Last week, Fat Panda hacked into the account of an agent of the Chinese Intelligence. An organization has been paying him millions. We don’t know what for, but a week later, both Fat Panda and the agent were dead. You might have a little creature yourself. Think of this as a friendly, little mole trap.” So there is a mole in the British Intelligence! And probably some Chinese agents as well or how would they know? I guess we’ll find out next episode what’s on that USB key.
Now, at the club, Eve is let in after speaking German (and sounded really good to my untrained ears). Villanelle managed to be spotted by Bill and lured him to the front. He looks pretty proud of himself to have found her. Oh, Bill. And then… she just turns around. And she smiles this terrifying smile at him. It is super creepy. And then the chase is on. Lmao you can see the exact moment he realizes this was a mistake and how much he’s screwed. Scheisse is right. So she catches up to him and stabs him like 20 times in the chest. Overkill much? And Eve, who’s found him pretty quickly considering how packed the club is, arrives just too late. And she just can’t get to him!!! I was so frustrated that she couldn’t get through and was left there screaming at him! And that’s how the episode ends. Wow. I swear the last 10 minutes or so were so stressful. Why did Bill decide to follow her like that? What did he think was going to happen? I guess we’ll never know.
So let’s talk about Villanelle’s motivations for luring Eve to Berlin. Even before knowing who Eve was, she looked thrilled that someone had taken an interest in her. Is she bored with her life because her kills are too easy? Is she ‘lonely’ because the only person she seems to interact with is Konstantin? Is she flattered that there is a whole taskforce with the sole purpose of finding her? Does the fact that they’ve already accidently met and that Eve has curly hair (that reminds her of Anna?) heighten her excitement? Probably. So, since she knows that Eve is investigating her, Villanelle could want to figure Eve out first to win some sort of internal game. She could be curious to know how someone who looks like Eve, someone seemingly innocuous from their meeting in the bathroom, could catch her and be curious about her skills. Maybe she wants to know about Eve’s psyche and what motivates Eve to find her. I was actually surprised at how fast the show moved and had them in the same place again. It was super bold of Villanelle to use Eve’s name to lure her in. Despite her talks of the trip being safe, did Eve subconsciously suspect that this was a trap but decided to throw caution to the wind because of her own curiosity to learn more about this female assassin?
Anyway, so Eve arrives in Berlin and Villanelle just wants to play a little so she steals her suitcase and wears her scarf as some sort of trophy or something. And it’s so funny how she just can’t help herself and has to bump into Bill on the streets to get attention. And she looks so thrilled to have succeeded. So, at this point it’s all fun and games, but then she decides to kill Bill! I guess it’s still all fun and games to her, but she has to know that this will change things for Eve. Did she just act impulsively and want to punish him for being annoying and stopping her from following Eve? Or to prove that she was not someone to underestimate? Was this something planned and she wanted to make this personal to make sure Eve would pursue finding her?
In any case, this fundamentally changes things for Eve. Until now all of Villanelle’s kills were people she didn’t know and she could admire her genius from an outsider’s perspective and be ‘just a fan’ as she said in the second episode. But not anymore. Now that she’s somehow responsible for a death, having decided to go to Berlin and pushed Bill to come with her, she’s directly involved. She’ll have to confront her conflicting feelings of admiration and guilt/anger.
Anyway, that’s it for episode 3! Thanks for reading!

Killing Eve 1x02
This show gives me life! And I continue to be DELIGHTED by Villanelle!
Also, this is a really long post. I went on way too long about Anna, ‘them’, and the possible future of the show lol. Reaction & thoughts under the cut.
The Bulgarian target
- lol that girl on the bus calling her mom instead of the cops
- Bulgarian guy, we know nothing about him except that he works in an office, has children and money. The kill was a bit disappointing, it was quick, nothing flashy, and probably won’t be traced back to her.
- It is the first time we see her use a gun though and I love that she keeps wearing practical clothes
- “who are you?” “huge question” “why are you doing this to me?” “I have absolutely no idea”
- Her just flopping down on that chair after her kill is supposed to convey that she’s getting bored with the job? Even though she enjoys watching her targets die? Maybe it’s too easy?
Eve’s meeting with Carolyn
- We learn that Eve was born in London, when her parents separated she moved to Connecticut and when her father died she came back to London. So she grew up with her father. I wonder if we’ll get to see her mom on the show. It would be great if they got the same actress who played her mom on Grey’s Anatomy lol.
- “and basically married my dad” lol come on, Niko is great “I mean, he’s nothing like my dad, he’s much more physical… around the house” haha just stop talking Eve
- I love her relieved laugh when she realizes Carolyn pulled out her investigation of the female assassin because she “thought you were gonna pull out all the pictures we took of Frank eating”. They’re really terrible to Frank but he’s such an asshole so… it’s just really funny. I love that the show dares to go there “did you know about his wife?” “mm-hmm, you?” “mm-hmm” “those poor kids” lmao! Also Elena wih “You know, what you both did today was massively insensitive.” And then mouthing behind Frank’s back ‘that was fun’ lmao
- “I used to study criminal psychology and I was just interested in what makes a person I mean a woman able to… I-I’m just a fan.” I also love her stuttering, it’s so relatable
- “She is outsmarting the smartest of us and for that she deserves to kill whoever the hell she wants. I mean, if she’s not killing me, then frankly, it’s not my job to care anymore” dammmn Eve!!
- The music on this show continues to be so good! I plan to go on walks to ‘After Dinner’ by Unloved and feel like a super spy. “I once saw a rat drink from a can of coke there. Both hands. Extraordinary.” Lmao
- So about the investigation, Carolyn says she tried to look into it officially “But there was a lack of enthusiasm for it which could read two ways. I’m a naturally suspicious person and I have a budget to exercise that.” So if I understand correctly, she hires Eve & co at a lesser rate because she has too many things going on at MI-6 and her bosses don’t want to give her more resources?
- Last episode she said “We think she’s been operating for 2 years.” Does the “we” represent the side investigation she’s been doing with Kenny?
- “Aren’t there more qualified people?” lol I feel you, but don’t worry Eve, you’re going to do great!
Eve and her team
- Aw at how proud Eve looks when she salutes Bill! And the whole team is reunited!
- “All I had to say was ‘Carolyn Martens’” love the continuity of Elena being a fan of Carolyn
- “Did Forensics find anything out from the hospital kill?” “One full profile, but no matches” one full profile meaning they got her DNA, etc.? So this is the first time she leaves her traces on a crime scene? Why would she start now? Or is this her first crime in Britain and they don’t have access to other countries’ databases?
- That bathroom looked disgusting “It’s best that you bring in your own or it just disappears. How many sheets do you need?” “I was gonna take the roll and bring it back afterwards if that’s okay” lmao I was rooting for her to make the connection to the hospital’s bathroom and thankfully she got it and the sound effect was great
- Eve’s speech about Villanelle’s relevance was so passionate, it was amazing, and really convinced me of her competence. I’m glad it also convinced Bill and that he accepts her leadership, which must be hard at first since he’s been her boss for 10 years.
The therapy session
Villanelle’s faces were amazing in this scene. And lol that pink dress was so extra.
- “How do you feel about the people who you work for?” “I respect their privacy” perfect answer
- “Have you been feeling any anxieties or stress recently?” “I had quite a heavy period last week but other than that I think I’m okay” Incredible! I love love love how they acknowledge that she is a woman. This isn’t a role that could be interchangeably played by a man or woman. Her femininity is a part of the character.
- “what do you see in this picture?” “good legs” hahaha you weirdo
- SO relieved that she was faking being upset about the dead dog. How cheap would it have been to try to humanize her by liking animals and being upset they’re hung but not when men are.
- Everything’s good so far and Jerome says she’s fine, but then… Konstantin pulls out a drawing: “Do you still have dreams about Anna?” And this leads to SO MANY QUESTIONS !!! Are we to assume that she drew the picture recently and Konstantin took it from her apartment? Who is Anna? Mother/Sister/Aunt/Ex-mentor/Ex-lover/Ex-friend/Enemy/her childhood school nurse/First kill ???? And Anna has curly hair. Which is where her obsession comes from and why she stares at curly-haired women. Who have also all been older than her. And Konstantin and Jerome know about this Anna person because they assume it’s her from the drawing. But then Villanelle goes “that’s not Anna”. So… if she’s telling the truth and it’s not Anna, and it’s recent, could it be a drawing of Eve whom she’d seen not long ago and must have left an impression? After all, they did exchange words contrarily to the other women she sees on the streets and just turns around for lol. Or since there was no face, maybe the person is random, doesn’t matter, and only the hair does.
- Then she says “It’s my mother…I’m joking. My mother had really thin, shitty hair” lmao. So what we learn from that is that Anna is not her mother. And her mother is dead? Or she was separated from her when she was young which is why it’s in the past tense?  And if her mother had thin hair, and she has thin hair as well, a sister probably would too. So it’s probably not a family member (which would also be the least interesting option imo).
- Now, another interesting question is WHY she has/had dreams about Anna. Is she feeling guilty about something? Also, is Anna dead or alive??? Was she supposed to protect Anna and failed? Is she her first “love” who left her? Maybe she’s afraid of/intimidated by Anna? She could be the psychologist at the place Villanelle was trained to be an assassin? She could be a fellow assassin, older and more experienced, someone who used to challenge her? Someone in a position of power who’s unattainable? Anyway, moving on lol...
- Jerome concludes by telling Konstantin “I see what you mean” and won’t sign her off. Sooo… at first she’s fine to go because her kills go perfectly and she’s not emotionally impacted by death BUT because she is kind of upset by a photo she’s somehow not fit to work? There has to be a deeper story there, right? Otherwise it doesn’t make much sense. Maybe Anna is someone who almost convinced her of getting out of the game and they don’t want her to be distracted? And how does taking a few days off and doing something normal solve her deep rooted issues about Anna?
Villanelle & Konstantin
- I love that Konstantin just chills at her place. “Letting yourself into my apartment and drinking from a tiny cup doesn’t make you intimidating by the way. It’s just rude” hahaha
- Why doesn’t she hide her bruise? To make people underestimate her?
- “London was meant to look like suicide” “It didn’t?” “So she slit her own throat? And killed four other people?” So… Konstantin seems to say that 5 people died… but in the previous episode there was only talk of 4. Was someone else killed at the hospital that we didn’t see and whom Frank did not mention to Eve (he accused her of being responsible for the death of 4 people). Or are Konstantin’s sources wrong, and if so why doesn’t Villanelle correct him and say there were only 4. Unless she herself doesn’t remember because she doesn’t really care?
- “But this one has asthma” “You know I like the breathy ones” LOL
- I L-O-V-E all the Villanelle/Konstantin interactions! “I’ve done 3 weeks catering training” “No, you haven’t.” “I have the little outfit” “you save it for your birthday party then” lmao & also “You like Paris, huh? You like your life. It’s good to have someone worried about you, huh?” “And who worries about you? I do.” “No, you don’t.” “I do.” “No, you don’t!” hahaha he sees through her bullshit!
- And then she does the unexpected and huuugs him!!! So cute. But it’s only to get that postcard that’s in his coat. Lol. Scratch the cute. So manipulative!! And delightfully so. And he looked happy! He’s gonna be pissed though. Poor Konstantin.
Villanelle & Sebastian
- So this Sebastian guy actually lives in her block and is going through the thrash because he thinks he threw away his TV remove? Lol how random
- It’s nice that we see her train on the treadmill. Gotta stay fit. And I love the continuity of how she imitates normal people to learn how to better fit in. First with the smiling ice cream shop guy and now with that laugh from the radio. Although she clearly hasn’t mastered the art yet because that laugh is just terrible. Seriously, it’s out of place in any context and especially combined with her voice/attitude.
- “What are you doing now?” “cancelling all the plans I had” lol I would too. So Sebastian seems really basic, but he gives good pep talks.
- Lol! At Villanelle turning around to watch the curly haired woman without any subtlety. “Do you know her?” “No. I want to see your apartment.” Did seeing the curly hair turn her on? Did she just want him to stop talking/asking questions? In any case, I love her boldness.
- LMAO at that sex scene. Again, unexpected but oh so brilliant. “Please slow down or I’ll be finished very soon” hahaha props to the writers, I’d never seen that done on a show before. Loved that she was on top, with clothes on, and that she wasn’t sexualized. Then she lightly chokes him and he goes “I’m never going to hurt you” oh poor guy, he is just dazzled by her. So is her thing with watching people die about looking into their eyes or hearing their breathing slow down? Maybe both? Haha at that elderly neighbor’s “good work!”
The French target
- Omg the tampon excuse! Best thing ever! Villanelle is such a master manipulator! “it’s women like you who pave the way for women like me” way to make a feminist feel for you… and aww Carla looks so moved by her story.
- I got anxious for a minute that the poison wouldn’t work since she only sprayed her wrist but then the wheezing and coughing began. It was brutal. That fall from the chair was as well. And Villanelle just standing there looking at her with stars in her eyes. OMG when she took her hand and waved ‘bye-bye’. She’s so disturbing but I adore her. Also, I was stressed the whole time that someone else would enter the bathroom and catch her in the act.
- So, why was this lady a target? She doesn’t seem to be involved in the criminal world contrarily to some of Villanelle’s other known targets (the Russian was a sex-trafficker, the Italian was a mafia boss), although like them she is kind of involved with politics as a party donor. Or maybe ‘they’ also target people who’ve made big investments in companies working against ‘them’ (she’s obviously rich and supposedly so is the Bulgarian guy who says he has money). Or the targets could just be people with individual enemies who’ve paid Villanelle’s organization to get rid of them. After all, the Bulgarian guy asked Villanelle why she’s doing this to her, as if he was innocent, it’s not as if he’d begged her he’d give back the drug money or admit to doing something else that would warrant being sent a hitwoman.
- And speaking of targets, going back to the kill of the mafia boss from last episode, I cannot believe that nothing came of it! Eve only says “His wife said she saw a blond woman wearing one of her dresses and a kid said a blonde woman was playing a game with him in the same room where Greco was killed with a hairpin moments later.” And this is all they got? ‘A blonde woman’ Come on! The kid saw her face and everything! Maybe the Italians just decided to keep Villanelle’s description quiet so they can go after her privately.
- Also, I know it’s still early, but I cannot stop thinking about how the season/the show will end. Obviously, Eve isn’t going to die. Villanelle isn’t going to die either, at least until the show finale, or the show would lose like 50% of its appeal and I just don’t see how they could keep it going without her. Plus, from the show’s trailer, they are definitely meeting this season, so the cat and mouse thing isn’t going to drag forever. And this can only mean, the only place I can see the show going, is Eve and Villanelle teaming up to work together against ‘them’. Or it could just be wishful thinking lol, but it would be so great.
- Maybe Villanelle’s bosses will think she’s become a liability with her flashy kills and turn against her? They could send other agents of their own or just reveal to the families of her previous targets (like the Italian mob!) who she is. And she’d go to Eve and become Eve’s field agent against ‘them’. Or she could just become bored with killing targets and having to follow Konstantin’s boring instructions and decide to switch sides because Eve is just so fun and new and fascinating to her. Or maybe Eve would be in danger and Villanelle would offer her help and they’d go on the run together. Now this all sounds plausible from Villanelle’s point of view, but I could see Eve being reticent to work with a killer despite her being a theoretical fan. So it would really have to be a last resort thing. Or Carolyn or someone higher up would make the decision for her because this all benefits the greater good of bringing ‘them’ down. Or maybe nothing of this will ever happen except inside my head lol.
Villanelle & Konstantin & Sebastian
- So when Konstantin learns that she killed the French woman he is really pissed and he chokes her! I did not see this coming. What’s up with choking people on this show? I guess it’s better than if he’d hit her though. And it looks like Villanelle kind of expected it because she just lets him, she’s even kind of having fun. She probably knows she’s not in any real danger and lets him express his anger. If it’d gone on longer she probably would have gotten out of it.
- Then Sebastian arrives. Konstantin asks him “Shall I come back later?” and then just stares at him “Or shall I come back later?” and Konstantin’s face “Ahh, thank you” lmao. Sebastian is sweet though for being worried about her ‘violent brother’ and offering to stay. In that moment when he handed her the USB key I thought they were going to reveal that he was a spy and was going to hack her computer and I questioned everything I thought I knew about him. Turns out there were just national anthems on it lol.
- LMAO Sebastian smelling her perfume and dying! And she doesn’t care at all about him being dead! “Dealt with!” it’s DELIGHTFUL. Thank god they didn’t make him into her love interest. I would have been so disappointed.
That ending
- “A woman in London is leading a department just to find you… it’s a closed operation. And we don’t know what they know, but we are working on it. We just need to be subtle at the moment.” Omggg they know about Eve!!! So at first I thought ‘they’ just bribed the local police to get information from the crime scenes but this means they totally have spies everywhere and an agent at MI-6!
- So the googling starts and lmao at Villanelle just getting pictures of old polish women hahaha way to build up the suspense. Did anyone else pause on those google search results? They are random af and hilarious.
- Great parallel of them realizing at the same time who the other person is! Amazing ending. Villanelle seems a little freaked out, it’s a nice change from usual. And Eve just looks excited lol “I think I’ve met her.” omgggg
The organization
So what we think we know about “them” so far is:
- They’re Russian. This is based on Jerome instinctively speaking in Russian and Konstantin and Villanelle also speaking the language. They also have a seemingly eastern European accent. This also makes sense since Carolyn Martens who suspects something is the head of the Russian department at MI-6.
- They’re independent. “If it was someone with enemies, they would have owned up to it. Or been exposed for at least one of these kills by now.”
- Does Villanelle know who ‘they’ are? She says “I respect their privacy” at the therapy session and “I have absolutely no idea” to the Bulgarian who asks her why she’s doing this to her, and doesn’t seem to care.
- Eve speculates about Villanelle’s motive: “Either they have something on her, controlling her, or they’re lavishing her with something.” From what we’ve seen, I don’t think they have something on her or are controlling her… she seems to really enjoy her work, her freedom and of course the money that comes with it. Speaking of which, her love of money also probably indicates that she used to be really poor.
And to recap what we know about Villanelle so far:
- Languages: doesn’t speak Bulgarian, speaks Russian (but doesn’t want to anymore) so that’s a total of 4 with English, French and Italian.
- Her likes/hobbies include: ice cream, killing, sex, messing with Konstantin, expensive things, curly hair, and national anthems?
That’s it for episode 2! Thank you for reading! I appreciate all of your likes/reblogs/follows/replies!

Killing Eve 1x01
So I basically created a blog because I don’t know anyone who watches Killing Eve and I just need a space to talk about it lol.
From watching the trailer I wasn’t sure about the show. It seemed kinda dark and although I’m all for 2 women being obsessed with each other, I wasn’t completely sold… which is probably why I forgot it had premiered, but now I’ve watched the first episode and it was AMAZING! and I am completely hooked! The trailer totally undersells the show. The humor, the dynamics between ALL the characters, it is so much more than just a game of cat and mouse. It’s totally fresh, something never done before with 2 women as the lead characters, and great female side characters as well.
I knew Sandra Oh was going to be great, I’ve watched Grey’s Anatomy and a couple of other movies with her in it, but it was so amazing to see her play the lead (YES for Asian representation!), and Eve Polastri is such an incredible character. Jodie Comer was a revelation, she was great at speaking multiple languages, and I absolutely loved Villanelle. Also, hi Aunt Petunia!
So about the episode (under the cut because this got way longer than I thought)
I loved the humor
- When Eve says that at least they have the whole weekend to recover from the party and then being called in to work
- How little they cared about the Russian guy dying “oh no – why are they crying about it here?”
- “turns out people are still murderous bastards on the weekend”
- Everything Elena! The dynamic between her and Eve is amazing. That whole “how big are her breasts” convo was gold
I loved that Eve is kinda freaky
- All that screaming because she fell asleep on her arms
- When she let out a “cool” when Carolyn described how the Russian was killed and everybody was wtf
- When she punctured her own leg to ‘recreate’ the Russian’s death. Was she curious to see how hard you have to press to break the skin??
- Her elaborate plan to kill Niko and get away with it
And speaking of Niko, we’re probably supposed to think he’s boring with Eve repeating that he’s really well and nice and well, and Bill literally saying her husband is boring her, but I really liked him! and I usually don’t care about male characters. He’s just so supportive of her, sees through her, helps with her work, and he cooks and brings her drinks. And even when she’s being freaky he goes along with it “Smart, huh?” “Very.” “Sexy?” “Hugely!” Plus the “do you want to have sex?” thing and then obsessing about her work and him just going along with it.
Also, Sandra Oh’s facial expressions. Especially when she’s satisfied with herself: “she said Eeeeve!” & “oh yeah, no one could follow that!”
And it’s really the small moments that make the show so good and elevate it to another level. Like when Eve is trying to eat her croissant in the meeting and it’s awkward because the paper bag makes noise. So relatable. Eve and Bill swapping lunches at work like you would. That one nurse in the ‘fun’ scrubs because of course
Also:
- Sandra Oh saying “croissant”. She should speak more French.
- Elena being star struck by Carolyn Martens
- The music!!! It’s so good and really sets the mood
Now, let’s talk about Villanelle! My new fave.
She is so unique, does such unexpected things, and she’s just so damn cool! Rides a motorcycle, wears practical shoes, has many skills including climbing up pipes, hiding in suitcases, speaking French and Italian, which was super hot, and obviously killing people. She’s also kind of an asshole but an entertaining one. And I love how she just casually keeps her tampons, razors and gun in the same drawer. All the essentials in one place!
Also, she’s bisexual!!! So great. Thank you for challenging heteronormativity! And telling us by way of a threesome was superb.
Her dynamic with Konstantin is great. He is so serious, but he obviously cares about her. I loved when they both said “No I can’t, I’m sorry” and “You don’t mean that” about watching a movie. They’ve clearly known each other for a while and I cannot wait to learn more about them.
I liked the postcards as a way to identify the location and identity of the next target. It’s original.
So about her kill:
- The grandpa and grandkid were super cute.
- “You should really ask before you touch a person” I loved that! Yes to consensual touching! Could she have been in an abusive environment when she was younger? It seems probable in the criminal world.
- I was not expecting her to stab him in the eye. That was a little gory. When she went to get that pen I was scared she’d stab him with it in the other eye. Glad it didn’t happen.
I have a few questions though:
- The boy in the bathroom. What if he had come out sooner and seen her kill his grandpa? Would she also have killed him? And regardless, why didn’t she kill him too since he’d seen her face? I don’t think there had been a witness to her kills before, which is why she has to go kill the Russian’s girlfriend so nobody can identify her.
- Does the show draw a line at shoving ice cream on a kid and not killing them? Later on at the hospital it also seemed very convenient for Dom to have just left to get snacks. Does the show not want to cross the “unforgivable” line of killing a kid to keep her more sympathetic? Does she have her own moral code?
- If the kid didn’t describe her to the authorities, he at least did to his family, right? So now she probably has the Italian mafia after her? Or maybe he’ll keep a personal vendetta against her and go after her when he’s grown? Or he doesn’t care since he wanted to get back at his grandpa for the ice bath although murder seems extreme?
- And what was that weird dialogue with the kid “If you make a sound I will kill you too” “Will you eat me?” “Maybe just your head” … why would she tell him? He probably thought she was joking since he obviously didn’t expect his grandpa to be dead when he came out? Maybe he’ll keep quiet because he’s scared she’ll come back and ‘eat him’? Or he’s a kid and she doesn’t believe he’ll remember what she looks like?
- Also, does she get off on seeing her targets die???
I also liked the parallels between Eve and Villanelle being bored at work and going rogue. And OMGGG that hospital bathroom scene!!! I was not expecting them to meet so soon, but it was so good, although short! And what was up with her staring at Eve??Also, she didn’t even wash her hands. I’d be suspicious if I was Eve. Maybe she was too weirded out to notice.
So Villanelle killed the 2 guards, the fun scrubs nurse and the girlfriend. But how was the whole floor empty? There was at least a receptionist and a couple of people walking in the hallways earlier. Did they hear gunshots and leave? If so, how come Eve didn’t hear anything? How long did she spend in that bathroom? Did Villanelle tell the receptionist some bullshit excuse to make her and everyone else leave?
Also, re: Eve’s conversation with Elena about the female assassins in their database. Shouldn’t Eve already know that they only have 1 since she’s spent months compiling data and theorizing about a female assassin? Also, 1 seems awfully low, maybe there is some conspiration to keep all female assassins secret. Eve is probably right that “they’re” in on it, that someone is keeping this quiet.
Now, Frank is not wrong about Eve endangering a minor and conducting an illegal investigation, but he’s such an asshole for telling her she failed at her job when she did everything she should have and telling her she’s responsible for the death of 4 people. I was on the fence about Bill the whole episode but thumbs up for standing with Eve against Frank. Loved how she was pissed and just blurted out everything about the secret interview. “You’re a dick-swab” haha. I also liked that Eve was crying like anyone would in that situation. It felt realistic.
Carolyn Martens showing up at her doorstep was unexpected and lol at how she casually says she’s been married a few times. So now she’s going to recruit Eve, and of course Niko would assume she’s an agent before thinking she’s having an affair, Niko’s great!
“We think she’s been operating for 2 years” Who’s ‘we’? MI-6? I guess we’ll find out soon.
Thank you for reading! (If anyone made it to the end lol) I’ll post my reviews for the following episodes when I have time.
