What is Right or Wrong?

What comes to mind when being taught right and wrong? It can say we were taught well but is it the right way? It's different in every possible way of being taught from right and wrong. We have different kinds of environments that can reinforce us or influences us. But the backbone that reinforces us is our family. They introduced us to what they’ve learned and adapted in their life and it influences us. They are the starters of what we know from right and wrong. This is where it begins.

As we are born, we are introduced to “life”. The life that our parents gave to us, they’ve taken the responsibility to take care of us until we are capable of taking care of ourselves, and later on, take care of them. My parents didn't pressure me to withhold the responsibility of "utang na loob" towards them because they let me have that decision by myself which holds me greatly for them. As we age with the age of reason, we are taught with these so-called “values” it may depend from family to family what values they endure. Values are one of the most important that a person can hold in our hearts. It can be determined what kind of values a person can withhold whether it can be a norm or be deviant. The values of a person will differentiate what is important to them. From what strives them to be the person they are today. Will they forhold such values through society? The Philippines society has brought influence to people about social transformation. We must be true to ourselves not what other people think. It's important to have self-awareness towards self, you'd be able to grow as an individual.

The values of an individual endure firstly, respect. Respect is one of the fundamental values that must understand. Respect is traditionally embedded with people for example when we are on a jeep commuting with total strangers when they say "bayad po" people instinctively pass the stranger's money to the driver and pass the change again to her. We can say that it's an unspoken rule or tradition among other people. For our elders when a stranger usually sees them instinctively they help them in terms with the same situation in commuting. Respect can influence. Filipinos have this known value. Hospitality is one of the values that embed as Filipino. all around the world knows we have that value. Once we are faced with the challenges of owning up to the values we stand for, what's next? As we influence people with values, This can be a way to speak to people about changes that are happening in the Philippines. For example, people who want to normalize the LGBTQ community in the Philippines. It's one way to see how people will act upon this and their values whether it's good or bad. Upon people hating on the LGBTQ if you look it at this will determine how people will act depending on their values. I mean there's nothing wrong with their values not agreeing on their views. But times have changed they can hate and hate but nothing will change. because they endure their value. Time will tell if they accept it, people can change.

At the end of the day, we are still people who can't agree on everything, but we can just listen. compromise the first step of showing respect for other's values/views, In a perfect, it would be great. but we gotta start somewhere because change starts with us. We Filipinos are religious people who can't take that away from us. From the values of the church, we take it home we influence we are empowered. The church already influences the Filipino people with their values it showed how people/followers of God can influence other people. Change is inevitable from what was a norm to the older generation is becoming a deviant act towards others. The world will keep changing as we go through life.
