i just heard a taylor swift lyric in the wild and at this point i am absolutely convinced that her fandom is playing a long-term prank. like this has to be a goncharov situation where everyone is kayfabeing it up because there’s no fucking way someone who wrote “sometimes I think everyone is a sexy baby and I’m a monster on a hill” is seriously being lauded as “one of the best songwriters” without some mild gaslighting.

I love when newspapers are like "why are people so pessimistic about the economy when stocks are up and inflation is slowing?" Maybe because stocks mean next to nothing to the average person? Maybe because inflation slowing down still leaves it astronomically high when wages haven't kept up pace? Maybe because rents and housing in general have increased far beyond normal inflation and people are only left with the choice to pay up or be homeless? Maybe because most people's lives are still a complete hellscape in the real world regardless of the theoretical numbers on your little spreadsheet????

Instead of telling men to repress their emotions to appear stronger we should encourage them to sing incredibly dramatic ballads to process their emotions like in fictional movies. Maybe the world would heal faster. And also it would be very funny.
